I tried with potato and it did work and it was crispy depending on how much water I put. More water more crispy, and less water less crispy. With more water the potatoe becomes soggy before becoming crispy so I figured next time I will cut them bigger. I think it's best with yam.

Just make sure to strain any yam particles with a sieve before you use the oil again.
