Nice to see the extension to Wolverhampton railway station now completed. Perhaps the West Midlands Metro tram could perhaps extend to serve Merry Hill shopping centre and Dudley. And also to extend to Birmingham International Airport and NEC.
They're building the branch to Dudley, although there are doubts that the Merry Hill branch will be funded. Hopefully trams to Dudley will be running in the next few years...
The extension to Dudley hopefully to Brierley Hill has already started using part of the old tracked between Walsall and Dudley, Also the extension to Digbeth and onto Curzon Street to connect to HS2 is currently being built as well.
Interesting vlog, Simon! Good to see the extension joining up the railway station to the tram network. £50 million does seem a lot but hopefully the increased number of passengers will make it worth it!
Thanks barrowc. I have been back on it today as I was with a friend. The one thing I have noticed on Sunday and Today is that everyone gets off at Pipers Row and the tram is almost empty to Wolverhampton Station but this is during the late morning, cannot say if it more busier during the peak times. It also the same from Wolverhampton Station but more people getting on at Pipers Row.
Brilliant video of the West Midlands Metro extension to Wolverhampton station Cyber, it's nice to see it now open. Wow! 50 billion is quite a lot of money on such a small section.
Amazing video Simon and nice to see the West Midlands Metro being extended to connect to the railway station. Look forward to see what other extensions lie ahead in the not too distant future
The one i really care about is the Wednesbury to Dudley bit. Waited years for that one which stops very close to one of the offices i visit quite regularly.
That would be good being honest. I know Willienhall will be getting a new railway station, I could see the trams going to Walsall in the future using the line from Walsall to Dudley (which part of that line is being used between Wednesbury and Dudley) The only problem would be is crossing the Motorway and the railway. around the Bescot area.
@@ET-hm8do The original plan was to have some terminate at St George's and the other at Wolverhampton Railway Station but as far as I know it's planned to stay open but those plans have change and has a uncertain future. For know as far as I'm aware it to stay open and could be used for services to Dudley in the future which is only a guess or if something happens around Wolverhampton Railway Station then it could be use to terminate trams quickly, but there no official plans to close it
I went for a ride on the West Midlands Metro extension in Wolverhampton today I enjoyed it. Please feel free to check my videos at the new West Midland Metro Stations?
Great video Simon and great to see the opening of a new tram extension, no matter how short. The entrance to Wolverhampton station looks fab!
Only took them 4 years to open this extension!! Still glad it's open and damn them buses
Thanks Tico... yep don't film next to a bus station lol

Sounds good 👍

That’s two new extensions of the midland metro line now open
The one i really care about is the Wednesbury to Dudley bit. Waited years for that one which stops very close to one of the offices i visit quite regularly.
great video the extension should be towards Dudley and Brierley Hill
Thank you, that is one of the extension but they also heading towards Digbeth as well. So it can connect with HS2 at Curzon Street.
They should have proceeded plans for 5 W route, Wolverhampton Wednesfield Willienhall Walsall link, would be well used

Hi Simon which day are you doing the seven valley railway
I was there Yesterday and the day before, there no plans sadly to be at the Severn Valley Railway now
Will Wolverhampton St George’s still have a service?
Yes, in the future trams will be using both tram stop but for now, every tram going to Wolverhampton Station
What will happen to St George's? Will it close?
Staying open
But there's going to be no trams?
