    I'm glad you talked about Pipers Row, as that intermediate station is technically more important that Wolverhampton Station, as it gives (as you noticed) genuine Bus/Tram interchange.
    My only quibble with the extension is that Wolverhampton Station Station (shades of Battersea Power Station...) doesn't feel "connected" to the Railway Station: yes, there is signage, but the platform doesn't look like it's part of the whole - maybe if they'd put an awning above the pavement between the two, so the connection was under cover, it would feel more integrated.
    Still, really glad it's finally open, will ride it in the week.

    • @konadesu
      @konadesu ปีที่แล้ว

      I always assumed it would be integrated into the station, I swear there's room before platform 5 starts or taking over platform 6 which I've seen a train use once

    • @MidlandMark
      @MidlandMark ปีที่แล้ว

      @konadesu It would have been quite easy to create a more "integrated" feel to the station, I think TfWM and Network Rail should have worked more closely.
      Platform 5 - the space is actually more limited than you think, plus there would be safety issues with trains & trams on the same track.
      Platform 6 - reasonable. However, the curve to get off the road may be beyond even the capability of a tram.

    I was referred expecting the tram stop serving Wolverhampton Station to be, like, actually inside the station, or st least have a covered walkway to it. Instead, we have a bus stop !

    Well done Nick. Saw you at Wolverhampton station. I didn't get chance to upload my contribution until I got home to Blackpool this afternoon but it will be up by 4pm.
    Loved watching your version.
    Hopefully bump into you when they, FINALLY, open North Pier to Blackpool North railway station, supposedly Easter 2024 but it has now definitely beaten Wolverhampton in the time it takes to lay, and then operate, a few hundred metres of track.

    Nice to see the West Midlands Metro tram extended to Wolverhampton railway station. West Midlands Trains should start introducing the new Class 730 Aventras hopefully before the end of this year.
    Also I do think that the tram system should extend to Dudley and Merry Hill shopping centre and to Birmingham International Airport and NEC.

    I cam here after seeing Jen's video. You should have mentioned the old Wolverhampton station building that was converted into the Bus ticket hall and that Pipers Row is infamous for the car park that collapsed. Fortunately this collapse happened in the early hours of Monday otherwise it would have killed lots of people. The reason for collapse was the corroded support struts the same reason that caused the collapse of the Surfside Florida condo. My Great Grandfather was landlord of the pub there as well.

    • @AngelWedge
      @AngelWedge ปีที่แล้ว

      @@InkItOut It's currently uncertain whether it will clash with one of my upcoming dentist visits (apparently replacing a broken tooth takes a lot of visits… I'm currently being paranoid when I post videos, wondering whether the gap is too obvious).
      Everything I've seen so far says we don't know when the Westbound side of HBL will open.
      If they open on the same day, I am going to get the first train in, and then do a pointless journey starting with the first train out, before heading home. This is certain.
      If it's only the Eastbound (Northern) side, I'm undecided whether it takes priority over other life events. Might happen, might not. In that case, the plan will be the first train in (from MCV I believe), the first train out, and stick with that until the end of the line, before an experiment to find the route home from there including the minimum possible number of minutes on Northern.

      No, because the tram is managed by Transport for West Midlands which is a private company, not managed by the council. The only reason why they are associated with the council is because they work with the council to help cater the needs of the community

Last time I went on the 529 that way it was still being done There doing all the work overnight so it slows it down
