Kind of wish that Rob Lowe wouldn't have left the show on such bad terms. Like if he's going to leave as a regular cast member then you could've worked out a recurring role for him to where Sam won the election and shows up occasionally in his capacity as a Congressman.
Martin Sheen got a huge raise, the other cast members got together and managed to get a raise, but Rob Lowe was denied a raise (even though he was making more than pretty much everyone except Sheen) so he walked.
I actually liked that he left- work places don't stay the same for 8 years. Him getting burned out of politics for 4 years seemed a correct move for the character, to me.
When Sam's giving a speech, pauses to introduce Bartlett, and in the silence hears Bartlett shitting on the French in background, launches into Bartlett's intro

Not easy, but just not that hard. “I’m Toby Ziegler… I work at the White House. You have a minute to talk? We’d like to buy you a beer.”
