yeah she's most likely referencing her family in china, but the song title is not her name. both are written the same way in english but are pronounced tonally different. literally the song title means 'deep winter' while the first character in her name ironically is short for korea and the second character means east. she probably did this out of 'self love' and wanting to get more references of her name out lol.

I think I remember Sua saying that No dot is a song about a toxic relationship and a love that has turned into obsession. A relationship where you know it's toxic but you don't want to let go of it(?) that kind of feeling. I'm so excited fo your reaction to other Albums and "This is" series. (insomnicsy's videos are all honestly so good and fun to watch!) Also I wanted to recommend you react to Gidle. as an army and an insomnia myself I think you would really like their style aswell. their latest album "I never die" was really good and they're one of the very few self made kpop girl groups where they write and produce almost all of their songs! Dreamcatcher is their own genre😉 all of the solos are perfect but if I have to pick one i would pick Dami cause that song brings back so much memories. Grew up listening to alternative rock and I miss those kinda sound. Even the band I like don't make music like that anymore ☹️ so this is extra special coming from Dami.

All these solos bring me to different era, different feels, hell even different dimension (especially Entrancing). it is just awesome how every track convey their own sound and personality (I mean they wrote, compose and help with the production). It's certainly hard for me to pick a fave for solo. And my fave b sides (no solo) are Starlight and Always.
I feel like Sua and Dami got THE songs for the solos but all of them created such amazing and unique solo songs. I loved getting to truly appreciate everyone's vocal for an entire song.

Yay thanks so much for doing the solos! Hope you’re feeling better lately :) It’s SO hard to choose a favorite because they’re all so different. I listen to Siyeon’s, Sua’s, Handong’s, and Dami’s *all the time*. Less so the other three because I’m not as much into the bright and bubbly pop and Yoohyeon’s song has such a specific sound, but they’re all really great nonetheless. I think they definitely speak to all the members’ personalities and their stage vibes! And I feel the same way-somehow even with all the different genres they cover in the solos, this whole album feels SO cohesive in a way their first one didn’t. Jiu-charisma leader, literal sunshine, always loving and upbeat. City pop really suits her aesthetic and is very similar to other songs she’s written or just favored from their past discography like 4Memory and Airplane. Sua-very intense and kinda wild, definitely the one in the group who does the most sexy concepts. No Dot is literally talking about the period at the end of the sentence, so she’s saying her story with the subject has no end. Even if they say she’s crazy, they’re gonna love her. The theme of the song is similar to BEcause, but her photo concept gives me Mysterious Mansion vibes (a great photoshoot and mini movie to check out from them). It also reminds me a lot of Blackpink’s How You Like That. Siyeon-kinda mysterious and quite elegant, it’s a traditional Korean ballad and has such a mystical feel, and after her solo song Paradise it’s different than what I expected but also fits right in. Handong-quintessential calm vibes. Her voice is so soothing, like velvet. She’s always been known as Dreamcatcher’s “ice princess,” because she’s always appeared kind of aloof, mostly just because she’s introverted but especially in the early days because her Korean wasn’t as good so she was very quiet. And her name actually does mean Winter in Chinese, so this song suits her perfectly. It’s so sweet yet solemn. Someone said her songs and whole aesthetic remind them of Renaissance paintings and I get it. Her Chinese solo debut, First Light of Dawn, is much more pop-y but also has similar motifs, as do a lot of covers she does. Yoohyeon-you were right, she did write this for Insomnia! So it being in English is 1) a flex on her part because she’s the group’s best English speaker, but 2) probably a choice she made with the international fans in mind. It also might be because just this style music is very Western. Dami-she is serving pure Anime Avril Lavigne vibes and I’m in LOVE. She’s definitely the “cool” one of the group, at least on stage. In reality she’s such a little goofball, but still very reserved, and I love seeing her break out of that. Every single performance and interview I see with her, it’s so obvious that she’s feeling more comfortable with herself these days. Even just the fact that she sang so much on this album! And her solo is the biggest expression of that. I’m so happy for her. Gahyeon-what a sweetie!!! I *kinda* wish she’d done something else with hers just because this song is very similar to covers we’ve seen her do before, and we know she has more to her than this cutesy maknae vibe. But I also can’t fault her for wanting to do it this way. She’s the youngest of the group but even she’s growing up and life is changing, and the song seems really personal even if it’s disguised under the happy vibes.

Listening to winter for the first time made me so confused whether the song was in chinese or korean. Its like you listened to the song in korean but when you reach the last part you completely forgot that the song starts off with korean. Its like the song is fully in chinese 😂😂. And yeah the ending is very heartwarming 💕. I love all of their solo songs I can't choose a fav since each have their own charm 😚

I was instantly in love with Beauty Full, No Dot, and Cherry (in that order), but as I went along my day, I would get glimpses of Playground and For and keep coming back to them. Side note: probably not your genre, but dang is Rolling Quartz Helena cover amazing.
My favorite solo is Beauty Full, it totally brought me back to the music I listened heavily to in high school. I almost have that rap down. I also love Siyeon’s Entrancing. It totally needs to be used in a period piece OST. I love that Han Dong sings in Chinese at the end and that it’s just her voice with no music. And that in Chinese, Dong means Winter, I believe . No Dot.. SuA came for prisoners.. that rap.. and the beat. Cherry makes me smile.. JiU wrote a song about her dog and it’s just JiU in a song. Cherry and Pie, Yoohyeon’s dog, are the unofficial 8th and 9th members. There are so many videos of the members with them. Playground is a nice way to end things. For, I love that Yoohyeon did a song in English, I wish it was a bit more jazzy though. I love that For was written with her love and missing of Insomina. Dreamcatcher need more English songs on their albums. I rank them via my preferences- Beauty Full, Entrancing, No Dot, Winter,For, Cherry, Playground. I love that all of the solos were written, arranged and/or composed by the respective member. Dami and Siyeon wrote, arranged and compost their songs. This was Gahyeon’s first go at writing a song as all the other members already had experience in this field. Jiu, Gahyeon and Dami have all released their solo song Special Clips. Now I just need SuA, Siyeon,Han Dong and Yoohyeon.
