Nice review, thank you. Just test drove and ordered my new Aygo X Edge this afternoon. My local dealer said I'll have it in September, more likely the end of September. So that's 8 or 9 weeks max hopefully! This car is a beautiful car to drive, looks great and feels fabulous. I wanted an automatic originally, but they didn't have an auto for me to test, but I was so impressed by the manual box the way it drove and looked, I bought it anyway! This is not a fast car, doesn't need to be, but my 30 miles ride this aft gave me 50 mpg and I wasn't even trying to drive economically with the thing. As long as it gets me and the missus around town, and takes us to Scarborough or Yarmouth and back on hols reasonably comfy, speed and acceleration doesn't matter, but it's not bad anyway! This seems like a very fair review overall, and highlights the key points plus and minus quite nicely. If you have any interest in design etc. It might well appeal to you. And features / build quality / reliability will be very good, I am sure.

Hi Lynne, could you let me know how has it been driven so far? Some people say that lights are not strong enough on Pure and Edge models at night, and there is a water leaking at the back of the car.
It's actually a decent car we have had one for a few weeks now. Very smooth compared to the Aygo even though the engine needs a good thrash to get up hills it's giving 55 mpg and the height helps with curbs .

I have test driven this Aygo X Exclusive and was really impressed by its performance so I have ordered one and will be with me in September wherefore the Yaris has a twelve month wait
As a second car that could be for a new driver this makes perfect sense. A plug in hybrid or electric may give much better fuel economy but today when many households have more than one car I'm unsure how many would have a wall box or two. This is a fill up, switch on and go that as you mention should be cheap to insure and no worries if it doesn't get its turn at the wall box.

Really pleased with my exclusive. The safety features are very impressive for a city car. Yet to do a motorway trip but think once its up to speed will be fine. Thumbs up.
Had a courtesy car one of these. More Yaris than aygo comparing old ones. Did m says no problem and average 60mpg. Compared to competition best out these imo. Those 1krfe engines can do150k miles and very easy to maintain/repair. Very comfy and quiet. These 1.0 are 69bhp not lacking in any way at all. Very torquey as well as long geared. This car is built for a purpose and it does it superbly
Good informative video but to me a small car should be just that, a small preferably 3 door car... not a jacked up 5 door SUV lookalike with hardly any more room then its predecessor...
It is still a small car with a taxi like turning circle. But the extra height and width makes it so much more comfortable and easier to drive in traffic
We recently traded our 2017 Aygo X-claim Limited Edition for an ex-demo Aygo Cross Limited Edition and absolutely love it ! The new Yaris felt too big for my wife from her Mark2 Yaris - but the chunky Aygo Cross is about the same size as the old Yaris and gives her added drive height as she is petite. The styling is fun and quirky and it comes pretty much loaded with the same safety features as my RAV4 Dynamic Premium - not least with the heated front seats for the winter commute to join the electric fun roof for the summer - perfect combo of nippy city car and cabriolet tourer for the myriad of single track roads here in Scotland😊
Other reviews have stated that it's underpowered, our 108 struggles on hills. The lack of centre vents is a noticeable thing. I only hope that persistent boot leaks have finally been resolved. We'll probably go for an i10 or Picanto next, especially regarding the price.
I had a 2019 previous model Aygo. Absolutely brilliant little thing. I too wondered about the lack of centre vents when I first got it. Absolutely no problem at all, quite forgot the fact. The ventilation and aircon was superb, worked better in fact than on some larger cars I've had/got. The biggest surprise for me though was the 'low power' engine. It was great fun. One of those cars that felt 'quick' even though it wasn't, if that makes sense. (Great for the health of the licence) Loved to be revved and 'driven', very go-kart like. Quite ok on the motorway too at cruising speeds. The 3 cylinder engine sound actually became quite addictive, encouraged you to drive it hard whilst still returning good fuel consumption figures. Put me in mind of the traditional small engined Italian models of a few years ago. With one big difference though to the old Italian car; in 4 years of ownership I didn't get a single problem with it, not even teething troubles. That's the other big Toyota bonus it seems. I wouldn't buy one of these though. Why? Because the car WITHOUT the black section on the back end - which looks like a replacement panel after a bit of damage and hasn't yet been painted - is only available on the base model. Mid/top spec and you're stuck with it. Nothing to do with Toyota other than as a satisfied customer.
@@rob5944 it’s so much bigger inside than the old one, it’s very noticeable. Not on,y that, but it feels like a well made product, the old one was a flimsy tin can,
We picked up a new one a few days ago and the one thing that absolutely gets on my nerves is the incessant speed warning! 🤣 I hate systems that reset themselves when you turn a car off and the over speed warning is one of those that comes back on once the car is turned off and on again!
Great review, but words fail me. We're at an all-time low with car design - all manufacturers seem to do is take what they've done before, jack it up a bit, add some bigger wheels and plastic over the arches and instead of calling it an SUV, call it a crossover (which is really an SUV). This is the laziest form of creating a 'new' car. SUV's are no safer either - it's an illusion. Infact, due to higher center of gravity, are more prone to rolling.
its just a cheap way to up the price. Tack on some plastic, just up the suspension and call it an "activelifexcross" car. Hey, presto! - it's no longer a 15 grand hatchback, no no no. It's now a 20k "SUV Class" car. despite the lack of 4x4 or actually anything that would make it more expensive to make than the predecessor. It's all hogwash. Good if you have a bad back and can't get into lower cars, though.
Good informative review. I’ve got the newer regular Aygo and find the acceleration pretty dismal and at times dangerous. It’s a reliable little car but I wouldn’t have another. Now the Yaris on the other hand is a much better package.
we have the same engine raymond in our peugeot 108 and it’s not bad to be it’s been on the motorway at 70 with 4 people and whilst i agree with hills with a load on it’s great with two or no luggage if you work the gears it’s fine it’s meant for going around town and probably short journeys
Judging from the comments, it seems some of us are not happy as this car does not tick all the boxes. As the owner of a 2016 model and first time owner, I feel like an Aygo is for a certain class of people, and designed for first time car owners, or city car, that you only use it for transport as an individual, from point A to point B your self or with your partner and 1 or 2 kids, 2 adults in front and 2 kids at the back without luggage's, or only 1 or 2 hand bags. If you want an Aygo for longer trips, power, performance, off road and other sophisticated applications, then you need to get another better car or a luxury SUV. That is my opinion. The new design gives you a bit of confidence and better boot space, the engine does not seem interesting since is the same old version, but if you want to save, you wont be complaining...hahaha!!! For longer trips, you just have to know what to do and what not to do, for example: do not overload the car, do not carry more than 1 adult as a passenger, understand your gears on a flat road, hill climb or downhill for fuel economy and better performance. One thing I can guarantee you is that if you abuse the clutch, you gonna have issues with clutch, and that will cost you more money replacing it. Talking from experience. I drove 760 km in one day from one state to another and that took me about 12 hours on the road with one refreshment stop, this thing out performed other good looking cars on road as long as it is in good condition, good service and not being overloaded, especially for long trips. I never had a breakdown even though I bought it in 2019 with 42 000 km on the clock as second hand, now it has 108 000 km being driven daily. I am sure this shows how good it is and it saves fuel.
Yes, I think the crossover SUV trend has gone nuts. And because of that trend, it’s killing off a lot of hatchbacks, sedans and station wagons. Not a fan of them. Another thing: the Toyota Aygo X is a European exclusive. South Africa used to get the Aygo, but it’s now replaced by the Ayga there. The Aygo was never sold in Japan, and the Aygo X isn’t gonna be sold in Japan.
What does it have to do with being sold in Africa or Japan or not? City bug sales have been through the roof compared to other cars, and the Aygo X still does very good in selling so apparently their doing something right.
@@raymondk2202 I just wanna talk about vehicles sold in other markets. Nothing wrong with that. Plus, the sales of A-segment vehicles are still high in Europe. Last year, Toyota sold over 86,000 Aygos, but I’m not a fan of the jacked up versions. I would instead get a used Aygo MK2.
I'm 5'9 and I fit in the back okay - just, with an inch knee room, and only about an inch or so head room. It's alright for kids and young teens, but I wouldn't want to be going far in it as an adult at the back. Just bought one if these today though, the front seating and drive postn is really nice.
Stood next to this today in my local Toyota dealer. It's just a car, looks nice. But it isn't a crossover, and definitely isn't a mini! As for the power trains, I'd have to say they are deal breakers, unless you really do live somewhere where you don't have to go up any hills and won't be going over 40 mph. That drone of a lethargic engine really does begin to grind after a while. For twenty grand, it's just too much for what it is. If I decided to buy one, it would only be if I was prepared to do something to that engine and maybe even see if it's possible to fix AWD into it (GR Yaris-style). But what's the point? Might as well just go for one of the rivals mentioned.
Can't understand why these manufacturers are putting piano black paintwork on external areas that are prone to getting lots of road dirt..after a few months of cleaning, they all go dull from rubbing away the road dirt..Just think of it like rubbing your TV screen with sandpaper..it craaaaaaazy.....love the presentation as always👍👍👍
How does it compare length and width-wise to a VW Golf or Polo? Its too small to sell in the US where it is not offered. A pity because I think these will be great city commuter cars over here.
well done Tish a brilliant review as ever we actually saw a aygo x in that colour earlier in town and looked lovely as we have the peugeot 108 which is similar to the old aygo and my wife loved it we think toyota will pick up sales from people who had the peugeot and citroen as they aren’t made now we are interested in them and the car appeals to us as a second car as our main car is a t roc lovely to see you in bromsgrove i recognised much of the scenery as i worked there and we live in halesowen just up the road!
such a small world! yes it’s a very good looking car and sometimes victoria wishes she had bought the toyota as the same car with longer warranty but she was swayed with the green metallic on the peugeot and green seats i can see her going for one next year when her pcp is up
I'm nearing buying a used one! My 17 yo Citroen C1 is on its last legs. I'm so nervous buying one as a lone female, but will have to. I'm going to a proper Toyota dealer 😵. I wonder if the Aygo Cross is pricier to run than my C1. I only pay £20 a year road tax too.

If they could knock off 2k I don't think there would be any competitor in the class they'd just sell sell sell... Especially if they added a 2k turbo option with 90 HP manual or 120HP auto
I wonder if we will see the Aygo X here in Australia, quite a lot of our cars are RHD Euro spec. The tiny back doors and the small window which doesn't open properly would make it very claustrophobic, a ride in the back seat would feel horrible, in my opinion.
Top spec Aygo comes close to entry level Yaris hybrid which is much better car, therefore highly recommended to all potential Aygo buyers especially those who are thinking abound automatic car. 👌👍
Unfortunately I think with the way the world is, more young people are considering financed vehicles as their first cars. I’m not saying that is correct but it’s definitely happening

Really pleased with my exclusive. The safety features are very impressive for a city car. Yet to do a motorway trip but think once its up to speed will be fine. Thumbs up.
That’s so great to hear Alan!
Yes I do think you have a point, although 5 doors is always better to me
It is still a small car with a taxi like turning circle. But the extra height and width makes it so much more comfortable and easier to drive in traffic
I have an Aygo x for work and a large seat Tarraco for carrying family . The Aygo is perfect for driving around city and getting in small spaces.
I have a question, I want to buy one for my son, is it better to have a manual or automatic transmission? I would be grateful for your advice
@@martimarti3403 I went for an auto and it is very good.
@@alunhoskins4513 glad your pleased, they're a good drive 👍
The tailgate is not actually glass anymore, like the VW Up it’s actually a conventional metal tailgate with a glass cover. It shouldn’t leak.
@@oliverstemp9132 fair enough. However the cockpit doesn't look any roomier, despite it being larger.
@@rob5944 it’s so much bigger inside than the old one, it’s very noticeable. Not on,y that, but it feels like a well made product, the old one was a flimsy tin can,
What an iconic voice crack at the beginning? “ Do YOOOOooou remember a time….”
We picked up a new one a few days ago and the one thing that absolutely gets on my nerves is the incessant speed warning! 🤣 I hate systems that reset themselves when you turn a car off and the over speed warning is one of those that comes back on once the car is turned off and on again!
Ford Ka had an exceptional aerodynamics, we once drove across whole town without even realizing the rear tailgate was left opened.
Hahah brilliant
A little masterwork ..... desing look's very ,very nice...!!!
I love your accent!
What part of Essex are you ftom?
I was born in Rochford.
Good informative review. I’ve got the newer regular Aygo and find the acceleration pretty dismal and at times dangerous. It’s a reliable little car but I wouldn’t have another. Now the Yaris on the other hand is a much better package.
Personally I like the CVT especially in uphills
Had an Aygo in 2015 and couldn't get on with the weedy 69 bhp engine, 7 years on and it still has it!
Hopeless up hills.
My 59bhp Skoda Citigo is powerful enough for me and my driving school.
we have the same engine raymond in our peugeot 108 and it’s not bad to be it’s been on the motorway at 70 with 4 people and whilst i agree with hills with a load on it’s great with two or no luggage if you work the gears it’s fine
it’s meant for going around town and probably short journeys
It does completely depend where you are, In flat Essex, it is absolutely fine!
The tall gearing doesn't help. Perhaps a turbocharger would be an idea for the X?
I thought fuel prices would end the madness but it seems to be having no impact sadly.
@@gravemind6536 I see. Crossover SUVs are less fuel efficient than hatchbacks, sedans or station wagons, and yet so many people buy them.
Just bought this car and love it!
Great to hear!
I have a question, I want to buy one for my son, is it better to have a manual or automatic transmission? I would be grateful for your advice
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. I like the Exterior the best. Not enough room In the back though
Yes, it is a little tight back there!
I'm 5'9 and I fit in the back okay - just, with an inch knee room, and only about an inch or so head room. It's alright for kids and young teens, but I wouldn't want to be going far in it as an adult at the back. Just bought one if these today though, the front seating and drive postn is really nice.
I had one as a courtesy car whilst my Rav 4 was serviced. It was fun to drive
I love Her accent!!!!
I just ordered mine in Ginger Beige with the sliding roof...
I love it!!!
Sounds great!! What a colour name!!
I don't get why the world has gone mad on SUV's, give me a nice little hot hatch any day!
Yes I love a little hatch but then I do see the appeal in SUVs
Also that car being reviewed isn’t the Edge it’s the Exclusive
Yes, Sorry about that. I only realised after when I spotted that chrome bar at the bottom
Would be interesting to see if the increased fuel economy of the Yaris would pay for the difference in price between the two.
Yes that is a great point!
I got 72mph in the Yaris in the light nights in the dark 58mph less battery power so far I'm averaging 48 in the AygoX
Nice review ✅
I like the car..
Thank you for watching
I don't get the SUV thing in Britain it's silly unless you take bikes in the back.
Definitely a fashion statement
It's a nice simple car, car have become ridiculously expensive so it's nice to see something small and affordable.
It's a cool little thing!
I like these but for practicality and performance the Suzuki Ignis is better.
They've been out a while but I need to get one on the channel!
James Bond in a Suzuki Ignis ?? !!!🤣
This Toyota is so much better built than the Suzuki
Can you do a review on the seat arona FR? I’ve seen loads of the top end models but none of the lower spec.
I think it would look pretty good if you lowered the suspension and colour coded the arch extensions. It's like a new IQ
YES AGREE!!
14mm ride height gives a superior view? The Ignis has 18mm and has much more room inside.
Fear it's on expensive side. Did consider at one point.
Everything going that way unfortunately
Can't understand why these manufacturers are putting piano black paintwork on external areas that are prone to getting lots of road dirt..after a few months of cleaning, they all go dull from rubbing away the road dirt..Just think of it like rubbing your TV screen with sandpaper..it craaaaaaazy.....love the presentation as always👍👍👍
How does it compare length and width-wise to a VW Golf or Polo? Its too small to sell in the US where it is not offered. A pity because I think these will be great city commuter cars over here.
well done Tish a brilliant review as ever we actually saw a aygo x in that colour earlier in town and looked lovely as we have the peugeot 108 which is similar to the old aygo and my wife loved it we think toyota will pick up sales from people who had the peugeot and citroen as they aren’t made now we are interested in them and the car appeals to us as a second car as our main car is a t roc
lovely to see you in bromsgrove i recognised much of the scenery as i worked there and we live in halesowen just up the road!
I think you're absolutely right! My partner lives out this way, so hopefully going to do some more with Bromsgrove!
such a small world! yes it’s a very good looking car and sometimes victoria wishes she had bought the toyota as the same car with longer warranty but she was swayed with the green metallic on the peugeot and green seats i can see her going for one next year when her pcp is up

It brings nothing new, if they offered all wheel drive it might sell better. The original fiat panda in the 1980’s did a decent small 4x4.
Shame because it would be so good but I just don't think it could be made affordable

Unfortunately I think with the way the world is, more young people are considering financed vehicles as their first cars. I’m not saying that is correct but it’s definitely happening
@@AutoSocialUK I've been on finance with Toyota for 9 years now, and just ordered the Edge Aygo X model. Its one of the more affordable ways to own a car. Yes I have to pay a monthly fee, but I get at least three years of worry free motoring with a warranty and only one MOT test to do each time.

Hate to be hyper critical but her dress is covered in stains! did no one bring a lint roller? Good host though ✌🏻, I am getting my new Aygo today. Not happy it's got bigger. We shall see.
The review reaches pretty hard to not criticise this car. Playing down the price tag. Making out the exposed metal bodywork in the interior isn't cost costing and cheapens the car and saying the engine is "still well suited to the car". If I said these things it'd be because Toyota gave me a thicc (with two cs) envelope. 😅
Bloody hell I wish 🥲 it’s just because I appreciate little cars like this, I drive an UP! GTi myself, so it’s familiar territory

This car represents the same market as the traditional juke targets. Buyers who overlook or are plain ignorant to the extensive list of shortcomings but buy only on the looks.
