American men players are doing so well because of the college tennis programs. Lucky he has parents who played tennis as well as his dad being a really good college tennis coach. This is his first trip outside the US. How awesome! Congratulations Ben. Just very proud of you. Great well rounded game. Oh and he began playing tennis at the age of 12. He's down with the haters. A champion's mindset.

Shelton just put Alcaraz on notice IMO. If that’s his usual level of play he is a generational talent; a bone fide genius.

The Aussie crowd is getting as bad as the French. It’s not a good look and patently isn’t helping our players either. But if this kid plays at this level consistently Alcaraz is on notice, a world beating performance against our young Popyrin. Honestly one of the most brilliant performances from a young player I’ve seen since Tomic burst onto the scene: he just looks way ahead of his time the way Bernard did before he imploded. The future of the game just might be in the hands of this young, creative and powerful talent. Hearty congratulations!

    • @jeffvanderwerf3391

He is certainly better-grounded than Tomic, which will obviously serve him well. You can see he comes from a strong support network and is well-educated.
