i loved the new wolfpack marauder (and i do hope that signals more sets that include this wonderful faction) but i must say that the tax collector is my favourite. it's just so detailed and, as you said, matches the story behind him so well
The upgraded version, while a bit different, seriously looks way more like a rogue / bandit indeed. The tax collector is almost perfect as is. It is a bit strange to me, that they went all out on those 2 characters by adding cloaks, while they were clearly the best and most interesting figures already.
I think the Tax collector fig would actually be great to army build and make into a faction. Not a full kingdom in my eyes, but more of a noble house that has sworn fealty to the Lion Knights, but they would still have their own goals and aspirations. I think the torso and legs would look fantastic with some simple flat silver armor pieces to denote guards, men-at-arms, etc.
Yes! Purple and silver is such a great combo. I always said if lego was to make a brand new faction i'd wanna see a purple and silver themed griffon faction
@@Goldfyre A griffin is a great sigil for a medieval faction! I think, assuming the parts are on pick-a-brick, I’m going to get maybe 8-12 of the torsos and legs to outfit in different armors. Maybe one to be the lord of the house, and this tax collector would be his son. Kind of House Lannister vibes. Loyal but also a bit mischievous. The arrogant expression in the tax collector, plus purple being historically seen as a royal color, lends well to the house having a high standing/outlook on themselves
I like how you use normal parts that your average collector would have not anything crazy and unobtainable to the normal viewer makes me think “ I have a bunch of those I wonder how I could improve mine” Good video keep it up
Not to nitpick too much but the wolfpack maurader might as well get a musket because pants pockets werent really a thing until the 17th century. Great vid as always!
Lore for the Town Square (Based on the Mini-figures): The Town Square is actually part of a Lion Knight village. Like most buildings in Lion Kingdom, it is built using the quality lumber from the Queenswood. It’s actually built near the Black Falcon border, hence the Wolfpack activity.
I think the Goat Herd could be the Cheese maker as the Cheese maker's daughter is in the set but not him. Also he comes with another goat and goat Cheese so it makes sense that he is the cheese maker
Lovely ideas! I especially love the reuse of the goatherd legs. But am I the only one who likes the new hood better? Just wish there was a good way to get it in black, red, blue, tan in quantities.
@@Goldfyre I am not saying I hate the old one, I like it - but it feels to me like an odd peasant hood or some such - as opposed to evil stalker / criminal / traveler / ranger hood.
The tax collector and the Wolfpack are the best in the set! But the other figs are still good, even if you don’t like them they are still good for parts.
I think the gray legs on the Wolfpack fig were chosen because the OG gray legs Wolfpack variant appeared in the most sets. While I agree printed or dual molded legs are a big improvement, I don't think they have to be black/brown.
Thoghts on the tax collector: use the legs on a viking lamellar torso with either purple or light blue gray arms and black, brown, or light blue gray hands (lbg only if you use purple arms). Add black or lbg armor accessories. Now you have an alternate medieval Roman soldier to compliment or to oppose the dark red version (gotta love civil wars). The torsos can be used for light troops or as a bambakion (gambeson) under a breastplate for extra heavy elites.
very nice! It has been fun playing around with some of the new CMF 25 minis and doing swaps... the barbarian with the bat helmet... ooo I liek this..... then use goar herders head with the purple hair on the bat knight. I deceided they are going to be vegetarians... fruit bats... and throw a wrench in the expectations list. A scary but peaceful loving group.
I'm looking forward to picking up the new wolfpack mini, though I prefer the original as it's blankness gives a lot more customization options. My annoyance with the belt is that a lot of nice printed legs have belts ON them, so we're "forced" to double belt a bit. I wonder what a grey cape or the grey hood would look like with that grey fur collar.
The hood of that red dress lady is one of the best pieces. I'm glad Lego is bringing back head covers for females (also different one in lion knights castle), which were almost mandatory in medieval times. It would be great to see some head covers for male figures as well, but fot the ladies it's way better than random weird hair pieces.
I like the headress’ son soem figures ( inn keeper is a good example ) but I think I personally just prefer hairpieces ( as long as their nothing too fancy ). But to each their own!.
Goldfyre, I'm not sure if you know this already, but the helm with nasal piece fits with a bandanna. I have used it in a few custom figs, I think it could look really cool for a soldier in cold weather or a bandit.
Some nice work, weird though how you said the shield painter was your least favourite and then you never upgraded her haha. There’s even a perfect set of legs with paint drips on them
Always cool with new unique figs. We got dealth a heavy blow this month by Lego when it comes to armybuilding though as the prices has increased quite a bit.
Very. I also feel it's unacceptable that they didn't announce that anywhere. I figure it was a sneaky way to A: get more money and B: to decrease the amount of PAB orders that flood in to mitigate strain on workers.
@@arbitrary2868 The lack of information ticks me off too, we had no way to prep for it. When I emailed them about it I only got this answer (and mind you it was only the torsos that went up in price not the legs). "Like many businesses, we’ve continued to see increased raw material and operating costs. For some time now, we absorbed this impact in an effort to keep our pricing stable and consistent. However, in recent months these costs have rapidly increased, so we have made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) and wholesale prices across some of our global portfolio of products. Finding the right price for a product isn’t easy and depends on a lot of factors. When deciding a price for each region, other factors come into play, such as statistical data about a region's population, transportation costs, currency exchange rates, local laws and taxes and the prices of other toys.".
The adventurer girl is great, I need that BTS hair piece. I'm sad that her torso print has yellow because I use realistic skin tones, buuuut this body works for my tieflings that use the horns from the Faun CMF
If I ever decide to buy this set, the Tax collector will be the Emperor of the Castle land. With some custom loros (tunic, robe) it will look a lot like a Byzantine Emperor.
The only thing I don't like is that you gave the wolf pack dude legs with pockets (There is a reason why medieval people used belts with bags, pockets on pants weren't invented yet)
Despite the price increases on Minifig torsos for PAB, I also plan on getting a ton of them from this set. Absolutely plan on making a small Wolfpack gang as well, probably 10-12 guys. I'm still very torn between this and the A-Frame to get for my b-day.
I had actually expected a review of the village, and part of me still wants you to do one. My least favourite of the customs is the tapestry maker, for some reason I just think the mando legs didn’t work too well, but I think the rest turned out great!. Have a good day man😌
