My favorite is the Bella Canvas 3413 but it's too expensive on Printful so I stick to Anvil 980, Bella Canvas 3001, and American Apparel for selling purposes and depending on which shirt has the best colors for my designs and which shirt has the best mockup model for my design. I base things off of that and mix things up for my brand.
Ok so I've tested several printful t-shirts and have had them over the course of the past 18-24 months. The Gildan 2000 arrived and the print was top notch but looked and felt like a pillow case. (Black and XL) Over the past 12 months it has shrunk but it actually held up really well. Feels like it has gotten softer over numerous washes. The Anvil 980 arrived 9/10 but didn't last the test of time, for me anyway. It has shrunk and the material is not nearly as soft as it once was. Bella+Canvas 3001 is lighter more form fitting and if you're looking to build a brand this is the perfect t-shirt. It's held up well and kept it's shape but just not a fan of the white as it's a little see through. Next Level 3600 is definitely my favourite. I use this for my athletic collection as it's more form fitting and tighter around the arms. Right amount of stretch, softness and is a little longer than the usual. Keep in mind that I am 6'3 and 255lb so the fit and length was perfect for someone my size. If you're going down the niche route I guess you could use any of these tees but if you're building a clothing brand and quality is paramount, I wouldn't go past Bella+Canvas and Next Level as they are the same quality and fit you'd find in a retail store.
I agree. I have been printing custom shirts for the past 4 years, and I have come to the same conclusion as you when it comes to tees for a clothing brand. Bella+Canvas and Next Level are almost exactly a like. They have some slight differences, so it comes down to personal preference. The only thing about the 3001 and 3600, is that depending on your customer base, these two models may be too thin. I know a lot of men who think they feel cheep because they are so thin, and prefer the 6.0oz like the Gildan Hammer or G200/G2000. Plus many streetwear brands use 5.5oz and up. Luckily Bella+Canvas has 2 heavyweight shirts, the 3091 that is a 5.5 oz, and the 3010 that is 5.7oz but is a little more of a relaxed fit. I assume Next Level has similar. Bella+Canvas and Next Level are the only brands that I have used, that are made with ringspun cotton but still do not shrink much. Anvil is the worst when it comes to shrinking, unless it is a cotton poly blend, like the heather colors.
That's what I use but printful charges so much. Bella starts at $3.50 and I end up charging up to 34.99 for tshirts which my customers buy with no problem
I did a test print for both my white and black t-shirts ( Bella + Canvas) The white print was great, the colors were bright and looked good. My dark shirt was dull in print for me...did many test prints thinking it was my file. Even asked if they printed a white base layer first on my tshirt. Followed the steps and colors provided for darks, and still was dull - looked washed out. I did a test print somewhere else - same file and same brand tshirt. It was night and day. I knew it wasn't my file. From the samples I see online...the dark color tshirts look great with one or two color prints. Thats why I played it safe to only use the white tshirts. If anyone has tips please share..
Nice evaluations! Men and women are built differently of course. When I tested Unisex T-shirts, most guys complained about tight sleeves. I wish you would offer more styles specifically made for men or ladies, but I realize it's an inventory issue.
just wanted to share my experience with Bella and Canvas: I like only form-fitting t shirts with small waist and larger at the hips and when I got my Bella Sample it immediately went in the "only wear it at home when nothing else is available" pile - it s clearly very good quality but not very form fitting for women I find. Also (even if for most people it s a good thing) it was on the thick side for me, I wouldn't wear it in the summer.
Hey, Sally, thanks for sharing! Yes, Bella Canvas 3001 is a unisex model, therefore, it will not have the shape like women's models. If you prefer lighter wear, choose t-shirts that weight less per square meter (look for gsm or oz.).

I am confused, in 2 videos i’ve watched, they said the Bella Canvas is thick, but in the negative comments in your website about this shirt, it says that is very thin.
Hey, Evelyn, the shirt thickness can vary by specific models within the same shirt brand and it also might be a subjective measure because to one it might seem as a thick fabric and to others not so much. The best way to check it is by ordering a sample. :)
I think Bella and Canvas 3001 is too thin; it does not wear well over time, tears easily, and makes the lumpiness in my torso stand out a lot. My customer is not a 30 year old city social person or a gym goer, does not map to any of the 4 individuals here. Interesting the Bella and Canvas has a weight of 4.2 oz, which makes it on the light and thin end. But it's interesting to hear these reactions.
I don't understand. This video is saying GILDAN as tighter than other t-shirts , but then on your sizes chart in the web page, Gildan is the one with a wider and looser fit. ???
Hey there! Fit is something that is highly subjective, as most people have very different body builds and there is no true "average" person. The way a fit feels on you can be based on many different things, like choosing the right size, for example. Some of the people in this video felt that Gildan was a tighter fit than Anvil, but most said that Bella + Canvas 3001 was the tightest shirt of them all. We recommend ordering samples and testing the products yourself before putting them on your store to make sure you know exactly what your customers are buying.
Great video! Very helpful in making a decision on what to buy. I ended up going with the Gildan 64000 and love it! I ordered it from Printful with the inside label being printed which was great, with one exception. The Gildan tag that was removed had little pieces still visible. Not exactly sure how my customers would feel about that. Which makes me wonder if there is a possibility of Printful ordering shirts from Gildan or any other of the brands that Printful offers without the label being sewn in, in the first place. Given that inside label printing is an option that Printful offers I would think that having tagless versions on hand would be a time saver. Not to mention a better looking product and happier customers. Just a thought. :)

Again, not sure if these suggestions are even feasible for the amount of volume done by Printful.

I ordered a 64000 Gildan but I was sent a Delta Pro Weight brand. Printful, how does that happen? I'm glad it didn't make it to a customer because it's inferior looking in material and color. And I got an Anvil when I ordered the 64000.

Can you get more hoodies for tall and skinny people? I'm 6' and 130lbs. The Large Gildan hoodie is tiny and the XL is way to big. Also, the Gildan hoodie print quality is absolutely terrible. You really shouldn't even offer it, it's a joke lol. The Bella Canvas Large hoodie seems like it's made for people who are way too fat, there's way too much extra room.

The cut and sew all over sweatshirts are awful!!! They LOOK homemade for one, and then the cuffs are sewn the wrong way to make them tight and with absolutely NO GIVE. The print was great. No tags....so unprofessional. Sad, as I was all ready to upload to my shop.

Gildan fades in time and becomes limp around the neck. Darker colors bleach easily in the sun in the summer. For everyday use though

yes, I pretty much detest the unisex shirts. Softer feel but horrible fit.
Gildan 2000 can be softened with a softener. It works great. Great for summers. They dry more quickly

Im having hard time choosing between Anvil and Gildan, taking in consideration of the prices as well. I really like Anvil
Why is there so much difference between the quality of the printing and the brightness of the colours?
I guess the quality of the cotton / cloth? How they absorb the colors?
