I abhor reading ignorant comments that English speakers love to make about Asian singers and their pronunciation of English. Can you imagine what native German, Italian or French speakers think every time they hear anyone who is not absolutely fluent in their language? I grew up loving singers like Elisabeth Scwharzkopf (who when she sang in English, could never disguise the "sht" sound everytime she sang a word that had an "st" in it) and who could forget how unidiomatic Victoria de los Angeles and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau sounded singing Beethoven settings of Irish songs (e.g. "They bid me slight my Dermot dear"). But we loved their singing anyway and adored what they brought to the interpretation. Nobody complained about these singers so why pick on Asian singers?
This is such an equal partnership! Not a solo, but a duo of equal musicians. Both clearly loving it, the singer by his lovely expressive face and voice, and the rich equal piano. thank you!
I sing this, but haven't in years and I was looking online for someone to remind me.... I kept flipping them off one by one until I hit this. This is what I was looking for. My voice is mostly Celtic Tenor and he is Japanese but in him I find the same everything.
I love the fact that when the aria ends, they both leave, and then come back, the audience applauds one more time, the pianist prepares the music sheet, the singer breathes to release the notes and the video just ends.
Great Job!! I've heard this rec. and aria 100's of times, and you have connected with it in a powerful and unique way that clearly portrays it's majesty and your virtuosity. Thanks for posting.
This rendition of the aria is a little different but I really like it. The soloist is really articulate and has a lovely voice . I like to hear him do more music from the Messiah!
So easy to mock foreign pronunciation but wise to remember that what we hear as Italian in opera often horrifies the natives of Italy. So a cheap shot there!
His English pronunciation is very good especially his '"l's" which usually give Japanese a problem. I had to really work at mastering the Japanese "r".
I loved the tone of this guy's voice. It was so pleasant to the ear and unforced. It seemed to just soar into the stratosphere on the high notes. My only criticism would be that he distorted the vowel sounds when they were held for several beats or involved in runs.
Wow. That was the best I have ever heard that recitative sung! The pureness of your tone in your upper register is nothing short of remarkable. You produce a well supported, forward sound, without it ever sounded forced. The aria leaves a little to be wanted however. Your tone and technique are still perfection, yet I find myself wanting a little bit more of a "meaty" sound on the aria. I think recitative and art songs are your strength, and by God, what a strength it is. FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE!
What a spectacular voice. So effortless. Great phrasing and dynamics. I did have trouble with the alternating bright and dark color in the vowels. I prefer your darker color. It is rich and full. When the sound goes too bright it loses too much warmth.
unusually the ee vowel is very easy for him.. he has some other vowels that are unidiomatic, but it is a lovely voice and more to the point it is a very committed, generous and heart-felt performance and therefore extremely engaging. Pi anist pretty good too!
Very feminine sound. Not entirely unified. A sort of counter tenor/ tenorino blend. Anyway it is entertaining and charming with somewhat enough projection.
gorgeous voice but terrible English really. But who ever said English was an easy language to sing in?? most singers are awful at signing in English, its a definite art!
Voice of an angel and his delivery was truly one of exultation! I loved his smiles between phrases- so much joy in his singing!

Absolutely beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing this. Very talented performers.
What a piercing perfomance! I was moved by the talent and sensitivity of both pianist and tenor. Thank you!
so beautifully done and delivered
Best rendition

Your voice is one of the most beautiful tenor voices i have ever heard. I love your choice of embellishments. Keep up the great work.
Stunning performance! Both from the pianist and the singer! Wonderful voice!
Despite the accent, it is still the most artfully executed and the most beautiful rendition of this oratorio Aria that I have ever heard.

The accent doesn't bother me when the expression is so accurate for the text.
Wow! So beautifully done ! Bravo!👌🏻❤️💯
I would love to hear him sing Messiah with a full orchestra. Well done.
The orchestra will bury his voice..
So charming.
Oh wow, this is sung with such deep emotion, you really bring out the feeling in this piece perfectly!
"Comfort ye my people" was my call to the priesthood nine years ago at age age 65.
Bless you for feeding and tending Jesus sheep and lambs.
God bless you

A John Cage ending ?
A very charming performance! Beautiful voice!
This was so enjoyable to listen to. Lovely!!

Good job. I was really surprised. Great voice with great phrasing.
well done
i like this pianist too
This singer and Mister Handel , what more could wish for.
Comfort Ye My People. I did so enjoy that. Thank you for posting.
This made me weep. Thank you.
I enjoyed your rendition very much, well done. Hope to hear more from you in the future.

Wonderful. Thank you.
Maybe it’s not perfect but there is beauty in his voice and I like it

Almonzo Wilder voice is wonderful. I noticed the accent most on the " th" sounds.
Bravissimo !
Love it. Beautiful voice. It would be much better with a small chamber orchestra at least I agree, but that option is not always available.
me encanta, soy un diletante en musica, pero me encanta.
Lovely
Bravo !!!
love this

Muito bom!
grandios sotto voce - und ich weiß wovon ich rede - ich habe es selbst gesungen
King George world respect respected world wide empire
GOSU!!
com'port' croooked thuss sayess the lord diction. ornamentation at the end needs rethinking, in my opinion.
Very feminine sound. Not entirely unified. A sort of counter tenor/ tenorino blend. Anyway it is entertaining and charming with somewhat enough projection.
Resolves the piece with elegance, but cannot still needs some more practice. Haendel's repertoire is very, very demanding...
His breathing is too short..a tenor should be able to sing through the whole phrase in one single take. :)
Really you can't do this with piano... such a shame of an otherwise wonderful performance!
gorgeous voice but terrible English really. But who ever said English was an easy language to sing in?? most singers are awful at signing in English, its a definite art!
he has done an amazing job, Lets hear you sing in another language
The ornamentation at the end was the only good part!
