I just saw Richard Croft as Loge in the 2012 Met Das Rheingold. He was so terrific that I started looking him up and came first across this. Just wow. Glory guy.
One will be hard pressed to find, heat or re-create a better actor or singer accomplish Loge’s role any better or even match that performance to which you refer. Find Croft’s Handel Theodora performance at Glyndebourne DVD where appears w Dawn Upshaw & the late great Loraine Hunt (best mezzo). Unforgettable.
I was lucky enough to see Mr. Croft perform live in this, and also some years later as Idomeneo at Theater an der Wien. The best contemporary Mozart tenor, in my opinion.
