Finally, no errant handbag! Loving the reflections of the Dalek blasts and the jazzed up transmat. I appreciate all the innumerable little fixes to the wandering stones during the Cyberman battle. Nice ’old colour new realism’ chequer board zaps, and of the effects on the Tardis, it’s great how it begins behind Turlough, it makes more sense of his reaction. Fantastic!
The new Dalek laser effect is brilliant on this video. What you have done with this new video is amazing. I would love to see it used on a future release of the 5 Doctors on Season 20 of a Peter Davison Blu Ray box set.
These effects are truer to the spirit of the original, unlike the ‘Mr Whippy’ version of the time scoop from the 90s special edition, which just didn’t fit the era the show was made, and has also dated almost as badly as the original effects did.
Another fine piece of work. I love the way you solve better some of the things the original video effects producers couldn't quite get right (ie, when the fourth Doctor and Romana are taken from the punt the image is not from the punt but of them clearly on one of the sets from 'Shada.') And I love the final shot of them being placed back where they kidnapped and punting off down the river - gorgeous.
Looking at the new special edition for the collection, I very much prefer your edit of the Rastion Warrior robot. Just fixing the frame cuts and the slight blur make it so more effective, but keep the original spirit alive.
I don't know whether this had already been done or not, but assuming it hadn't, as simple and obvious idea as it is I really think you did us all a huge favour by having Tom Baker and Lalla Ward back in the punt where there were first encaptured, It seems such an obvious thing now I can't work how why or how nobody thought of it before.
Here is my version of The Five Doctors The Fifth Doctor, Adric and Nyssa, Tegan and Turlough are taking a break at the Eye of Orion, one of the most tranquil spots in the universe. In the TARDIS control room, the Doctor, Adric and Nyssa has just finished renovating the control console, which now has a more hi-tech look. Turlough is sketching. Tegan is enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. It's a change from their non-stop adventures that leave them no time to relax. The Doctor, Adric and Nyssa goes outside to join their friends and enjoy the peace and quiet. When Tegan wonders why it is so restful there, the Doctor explains that it is because of the bombardment of positive ions. Elsewhere, in a hidden chamber, a dark figure - who shall be referred to as the Player - manipulates the controls of a forbidden device called the Time Scoop and kidnaps the First Doctor, Ben Jackson and Polly Wright as they walks through a rose garden. The Player takes a figurine of the First Doctor, Ben and Polly from a window-shaped wall alcove and places it on one of five spots on a diorama, which lights up in response. Back on the Eye of Orion, the Fifth Doctor feels a pain in his chest but dismisses the thought that anything is wrong with him as Turlough and Tegan, nyssa and adric look worriedly at him. Elsewhen, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart is at a UNIT reunion. He talks to his replacement friend, Colonel John Benton , about their former scientific adviser, the Doctor; it seems that UNIT had been unable to track him down for the reunion. The Brigadier says, "Wonderful chap - all of them" Suddenly, the Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon and Zoe Heriot bursts through the door, having barged past the sergeant on duty, happy to see their old friend. They take a walk. As they walk and talk in the yard about their times together, the Second Doctor, tells the Brigadier and Jamie, Zoe that they must go as they is bending the Laws of Time. However, they are snatched up by the Time Scoop. Models of them appear in the wall alcove and the Player puts them in the spot next to the First Doctor, Ben and Polly. The Fifth Doctor feels another pain and collapses after reassuring Adric, Nyssa and Tegan, Turlough that everything's all right. Elsewhen, the Third Doctor is driving his vintage car, Bessie. He notices the Time Scoop coming towards him. He tries to evade it, but is taken anyway; a figure of him appears in the wall alcove and placed into the next spot on the diorama along side with Jo Grant and Steven Taylor, Bret Vyon. The Fifth Doctor tells his companions he must get back to the TARDIS. There is something definitely wrong with his past and he is in immediate danger. As he puts it, "A man is the sum of his memories, a Time Lord even more so". He is near the TARDIS when he collapses in pain as his third incarnation is snatched. He tells his companions he has to find "my other selves..." Sarah Jane Smith is about to leave home. K9 warns her not to. He senses there is danger and it somehow involves the Doctor. He suggests she take him with her. Unfortunately, her car is out of action and she has to take the bus. Believing K9 is overreacting, she dismisses his worry and heads off. Somewhen else, the Fourth Doctor and Romana II are enjoying a punt along the River Cam in Cambridge. They are Time Scooped by the Player as well, he can take figures of the Fourth Doctor and Romana from the wall alcove and placed into the next spot on the diorama. Waiting at the bus stop, Sarah is snatched by the Time Scoop, and her figurine placed in the diorama alongside the Harry Sullivan and Katarina, Sara Kingdom, Vicki Pallister and Dodo Chaplet. The Fifth Doctor and his companions have entered the TARDIS. After setting a destination on the console and starting the TARDIS off, with adric and nyssa help he collapses. He begins fading into the Time Stream, but Adric, Nyssa and Tegan, Turlough keep him in existence by encouraging him. The TARDIS lands, and the scanner shows a desolate, rocky landscape - the Death Zone on Gallifrey. Could you do a comparison between the original temporal fission, the special edition and your previous attempts and now this one, as it was a welcome sight on the many repeat rewatches I used to see when I had the video, in the time between '83, '90, '95 and when the 25th anniversary version DVD came out

I love where the Dalek is turning and fires it's blaster straight at the camera. It's literally the last thing you'd see before you died.
I loved the original Black 2D Time Scoop and now this is something I would loved to see as a Blu-Ray new effects option. WELL DONE ONCE AGAIN!!!
It was certainly much more distinctive than that transparent tornado effect they supplanted it with.
I hated the Hershey kiss effect they added in the special edition.

I will say the teleport effect from the transmat, beam is from the Scorpio ship in series 4 of Blakes Seven.
