    What an enjoyable video to watch. Thank you for showing your beautiful plants.
    For those who don’t dig moss poles, plants like the ones you shared are great options.
    Another great option is to provide support without using moss poles.
    I say it a lot but I think too many people feel that have to put climbers on moss poles in order meet their needs and size them up. There are trade offs going different routes but for some people, they can achieve the results they want without the extra work.

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Yes what you say is so true, unfortunately we have been almost brain washed by this moss pole idea, but it is also hard to find other support for climbers I find. What do you use for your climbers that are not on a moss pole?

    • @aplantprocess

      @@TheLecaQueen - I love using clear rods.
      I use glass rods I buy in a set of assorted sizes for my small climbers. I like the price and look and because they’re small, the glass isn’t a problem in terms of strength.
      I use acrylic rods for larger plants.
      Most plants can take standard sizes that are readily available but custom sizes are easy enough to order. They never degrade and they’re easy to switch out and store.
      I find clear zipties to be ideal for securing things.
      I’ve grown a chiapense from 1 foot to 6 on an acrylic rod. I eventually took it back to cuttings after the leaves sized up comically large and the whole plant started looking out-of-scale.
      I’ve been using clear rods for years and in most cases, they’re barely noticeable. I like that my foliage takes center stage. I probably have 100 rods with around 60 in use at any one time. I switch out a few a week and it only takes a few minutes per plant. I’ve been using them for years.

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is amazing. Where do you get long acrylic rods? This has been my problem 😪

    Instead of a rabbit's foot fern, I have a huge Kangaroo paw fern. Same care, same furry feet. I have a baby G. Orbifolia and can't wait for it to grow up. You didn't mention one of my all time favorite plants that don't need a moss pole, the P. Ring of Fire. It is a stunning plant especially with high varigation, like mine. Thank you for this video, I enjoyed watching it.

    I grew up in San Diego, CA and we had several Bird of Paradise in our yard. I adore the blooms so much. However, living in an apartment in WA and the fact that it is toxic to cats, this plant does not work for me. So I resist the temptation. I adore my Raven ZZ and keep it up out of my cats' reach.I love hoyas! And have several varieties (a small fraction of what is available) and they are some of my favorites. Same with Snake plants, I have five different varieties and would hate to do without them

    I love your moss pole plants, they are stunning so I did grow a monkey mask on one that took off beautifully but I have to admit I prefer plants that don't need them. My two favourite in this video is the FLF, ZZ and lets pick another, the orbifolia

      Moss poles are very involving I find, so I tend to gravitate to plants that don't need them more and more these days! I would love to see your Monkey Mask, they grow really well on a moss pole.

    I adore my BOP! I resisted but finally decided I had a sunny enough spot for him. Scindapsus are great, but need constant pruning. I just got an orbifolia in February. Very pretty and has settled in nicely. I am not a fan of the fiddle leaf fig. Their appearance just doesn't grab me. Birkin is meh. I love my philodendron Brasil! She's beautiful and very easy. My peace lilies are gorgeous as well.

    i got so burned out on mosspoles. yes they produce big plants but all of the drawbacks i think are simply not worth it for me anymore. i am just a simple person, i like plants and its a hobby not a job. i want my plants to be as low maintenance as possible so i can just enjoy having plants in my home.
    i am also shifting away slowly from plants that might want poles too.
    i have seen a very interesting video a while ago about a big greenhouse in asia and owner talked about plant species and why certain species are there and he came up with a pretty interesting point i have never thought about too much about local differences. the western regions and especially NA, people are obsessed with mosspoles and big plants quite often, and that might also be part of because people in the us usually live in a big house and they have space for that. in comparison he said, most people in asian regions actually prefer smaller plants because they live in smaller apartments and they simply dont want their plants to go up 2m tall because of space issues, wich due to his observations is a very real reason why alot of his customers down there in asia prefer plants like alocasias for example over climbing philodendrons. the plants grow patterns are just more compact and suitable for apartments. and the living situation kind of translates to where i live in the eu aswell. most people live in smaller apartments and i think based on that alone i also actually prefer smaller plants that you can put around your house without too much issues.
    when you put a big mosspole into a pot, that plant is already taking up a lot of space now, especially with how you plan the lighting situation. lets take a simple monstera adansonii as an example. if you stuff a bunch of them into a pot and just let her trail or grow however she wants its super easy to just put the pot somewhere give her some light and whatnot. but putting that same plant on a pole, that pot will most likely not even fit into the same locations anymore due to height and requires a complete rebuild of a setup on how to give it propper lighting.

    I've got an oxalis triangularis green! I want a purple though but haven't seen them locally. I've been considering ordering the bulbs on Amazon BC it's the only place I can find them but they don't have the greatest reviews, but then again many ppl consider themselves black thumbs so it could be user error...
    You reminded me to water my two fiddle bambinos and my regular one 🤣
    I water my ZZ when I water my Jade which is about every two weeks. However, I just fill it's saucer rather than giving it a top drink so it only gets about a cup of water every 2 weeks. It's grown a lot since I started wearing it when the Jade needs it so I'm happy with that. My ZZ zenzi hasn't grown yet but it hasn't died at all either. It's in a 4 inch pot and is in a cooler spot so I'm thinking it will be happy when it's truly warmed up and it can sit in the window (little plants get the window sill in warm months! Lol)
    It will always be calathea orbifolia to me! At least until the be name becomes the common name lol 😂 it's love of my wishlist plants but I've been dead broke this spring with the dog having ear infections and my son needing a flight home from uni... Right now I just need to make sure I've got a miticide and substrate 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I find my ZZ Zenzi to be the slowest growing. I split mine up and gave half to a friend and I think the plant has never forgiven me for that. Has not grown significantly for the last 2 or 3 years since!
