  • In this video, Walker Reynolds shares a side-by-side comparison of an Industry 3.0 project vs and Industry 4.0 project to show how much more efficient you can be by leveraging Industry 4.0, IIoT, and underlying technologies like MQTT. Especially when dealing with many remote sites under constrained bandwidth.

Thank you for the detail! Complete hosted solutions are the need and the future. That you're willing to work with multi-vendor legacy devices, existing assets to transition customers is no doubt a key to your success.

I'm loving how detailed you can get with the new lightboard setup. Your train of thought keeps going longer

This was an excellent comparison especially that you got into the architecture details from in a very practical real world way. This was super helpful. 400,000 tags ... 1 sec update. That is really really powerful! Thanks once again.

For your project B type transmitter edge devices you should talk to Tatsoft - they have added a MQTT broker in addition to the client, and Sparkplug B, and have flexible embedded device licensing and can talk to Siemens etc as well.

Currently writing a sparkplug b client/edge of network node in python and it is a lot of fun. Sparkplug B on MQTT has limitless applications and that is exciting. This channel has been a godsend and has skyrocketed my knowledge in the month or so I've been watching, so a huge thank you for putting this content out there!

I completely agree abou thte useless boolean thing you said in the end of the video. It is almost like driving a vehicle with manual trasmission and lets say if you are sticking to 2nd gear, shift in 2nd gear, turn it off, then shift it again into 2nd gear and repeat that every second for example (I hope I got it right :D )

OPC vs. MQTT... The argument is about control. If I have a topic I can secure it but only on the broker - how to you guarantee security on the client/edge device? Are you doing this on the PLC? From what I have learned, this is viewed as a huge security issue of who can write to a topic, specifically when considering MQTT. I'm a smart guy though, and I know that you are smarter than that and probably have a solution for this.... Walker - could you explain security best practices in your I4.0 architecture in a future video? If one already exists, please point me to it.

Sorry we missed this comment! I personally asked Walker right now in the Discord. We may have to shoot a topic on Security for MQTT.
