      I was about to say, are we not going to talk about that wizardry, the whole disc hit the outside basket under the rim. Looking forwards to a session with you if I can swing it next time your in Wisconsin!

      I got a screen shot of just how far below the top of the basket it was……that defied physics. Amazing composure to continue the video and not mention it 😂

      I was about to say...You intentionally were missing and hitting cage and it still went in? Bergs are just better or Scotts a wizard one of the two!

    I try to think of seeing the stamp as it flies. That helps keep my nose up on push putts. Good stuff.

    You explaining nose down and the disc being parallel to the body just clicked. I definitely do that and come up short constantly. Can’t wait to try this nose up and locked tomorrow!

    Exactly what I realised after checking clip of me putting last autumn. Have worked it beautifully since then and never had better putt in over 10 years. Great video again!

    Good information, and I'm surprised so many players dont know this. I practice putting push, spin, straddle, backhand, forehand, hyzer, anhyzer, nose up, nose down, upside down spin, pancake, hook thumb, tomahawk. Last week I threw in a blind scoober (the right kind, backhand grip off throwing shoulder) over bushes 15 feet tall and 10 feet deep into the basket. I wish I could have seen it go in, almost impossible shot. Anyway, practicing all ways to putt leads to understanding the "why" of disc flight and how to adjust based on the actual course conditions. Also, variety makes putting practice way more fun!

    Great stuff though Scott! Seems painfully obvious when you demonstrate it but I've been completely unaware that I'm getting the disc parallel to my body in the downswing. I've been needing this lesson!

    Gonna try this out. I have issues with this exact thing. Randomly I will have putts come out super nose down and come up so short the hit the lock at the bottom of the basket from 20’.

  • @caseysmith544

    Spin Putts can have nose down trust me, I have done this when a full spin putter at one point with bad wrist action. However, now I am doing a full push putt on a full spin putt for my putting style. Yes that is going full spin while doing a full push style put, with the push not being as deep low as some people go, down do the knees or more then 6 inches below waist in a strictly push putt.

    This video is gonna help my putting just based on the first 15 seconds

  • @charley420
    @charley420 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This helped me significantly after our clinic, but another thing that helped immenseley was to slow my motion down and focus on following through fully. I was jamming my putting motion too quickly and releasing low. Once I slowed down, I started being able to conciously release higher. For me personally, if I don't see my right hand even with the band after release, I haven't followed through enough and that's my reminder to not rush it low.

  • @tommyholmberg

    I tried these tips and it made my discs fly like a piece of wrinkled paper. All wobble, no power. This is what I learnt from spending two hours just practicing push putting.
    1. Your shoulder is the main hinge. That was the only accurate tip from this video.
    2. Do NOT lock your wrist. You get zero power if you do.
    3. Do NOT lock your elbow. Keep it loose but don't bend it.
    There's no chance to get any spin form your fingers alone. You need a little bit of wrist. Keep it relaxed. Don't worry if your putts come out with a little hyzer on them.

  • @caseysmith544
    @caseysmith544 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    An odd fix for push putts I have seen is still doing the bad putt parallel to the body but they release up near the eyes so the putt does this arc in the sky before getting to the exact spot they want when hitting the chains. Odd and works but is not really right for Then another is this shove putt people think is a push putt but is actually a shove putt often used with some straddle putt or feet together putt. A shove putt is a type of spin putt not done right and they are often using a lid type putter, a fix for them is to remove the lid and give person a putter with different edge to it. I know I was also a shove putter at one point after I was a spin putter.

    I have nose down issues when I'm trying to putt from distance. Ends badly of course. I always thought it was because I held on just a fraction too long trying to generate power but maybe it's the disc position at reach back. Hmm...Thanks Scott!

    This video was made for me. Going to have to try this tomorrow. I have thought about just becoming a spin putter but it feels so foreign to me. Hopefully this video will help.

  • @EvanCole
    @EvanCole 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting. I definitely had this issue for a long time. This was not how i fixed it though. Ricky says putt a bit like youre going under a table but then over another table. So its thr motion of the arm is forward and then up. I found that didnt work. The opposite i found to work. Bring disc up and then forward that way the disc has the up motion with the forward finish of a spin putt. I dont necessarily think about this still, but that significantly helped my nose issue

    This is great. Is there a distance that a push putt does not work any longer? Is there a specific type of putter that works better for push putting?

    • @ScottStokelyDG
      @ScottStokelyDG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Push Putt will stop work for everybody. The distance where that happens will vary based on the player and their skill level.

    If I'm locking my wrist and forearm how do I generate spin on the disc? Push putts still need to have spin right?

    • @ScottStokelyDG
      @ScottStokelyDG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With a push putt your arm and hand come to an abrupt stop. When the disc leaves your hand it pivots off your finger. Even though you don't spin the disc it will have spin.

    I feel like Kona Panis right now or a golfer that is constantly changing putters. I had a good straddle putt. Then I had a good spush putt. Then in order to get more distance with less effort (and because I like Simon Lizotte) I was messing with spin putting with P2s instead of my usual Warden. I like various aspects of all the different putting styles I've been messing with. But of course my percentage is way down as I vary my technique and experiment. But in response to one of the posts, I think the top pro putters are doing a sort of "spush". Close up it might be pure push. Near circle's edge there's more spin so it's more of a "spush". Beyond Circle 1 more spin gets added. Basically the further out you are you need more spin so the disc has more stability, especially in the wind.
