The idea that this is down to "social acceptability" isn't supported by the evidence; for example, women are much more likely to declare bi-curiosity in anonymous surveys, a proportion of straight females will get off on lesbian porn in private, they may fantasise about sleeping with their best friend (again, according to anonymous surveys), but you won't find that with males. The evidence points toward a biological/evolutionary influence rather than social.
