Hey mate, recently came across your channel. Great work, very inspiring. I'm in a similar position, at 35 years I've decided I want to take the plunge and pursue a career in carpentry.
Not sure if you've answered this elsewhere, but one thing I'm trying to get my head around that maybe you could help me with, is the whole Cert III vs Apprenticeship thing. As you yourself are doing an apprenticeship, is the Certificate III in Carpentry a part of that, or is it a separate thing?
I've read "do this fast tracked course and then you'll be fully qualified". Then I've read once the course is done then you can start your apprenticeship. Its all a bit confusing. Hopefully you can shed some light.
Sorry for the long winded comment, and keep up the great work

Hi mate, Thanks for the comment. Either way is an option for you. But here is my thoughts and understanding of it (could be wrong though).
At the end of my time, I would have completed Cert III in Carpentry. So, technically, I'm working to gain experience and completing the "Cert III modules" as I go and getting paid. You can do the Cert III before your apprenticeship which means you will get the modules signed off quickly through RPL. But you still rely on the qualified people around you to sign you off. Which will still take onsite time. I reckon you have a crack at trying to line up an apprenticeship. If after say 6 months you have nothing, head down the Cert III road. Shows how keen and committed you are which may get a foot in the door. Hope that helps mate. Someone may have something else to add. All the best with it mate.
      Build on legend.

@@midlifecarpentry thanks for the reply mate. Yeh what you're saying makes sense and is how I was hoping to approach it. Just wasn't exactly sure of the processes involved.
So for me, it's time to start getting in touch with some potential employers and get the ball rolling.
Keep up the great work Chris, thanks again

Hey man. Great job on the drawers. Do you know the measurement to the back doors to the opening of the sliding doors? Or what size you made the boxes? Picking my hiace up soon and want to pre plan everything.

@@midlifecarpentry yeah sweet thanks for the reply! One more thing to bust your chops, what plywood did you use? I’m opting for 12mm marine ply on mine.
