    It's NEVER as easy as you think or watch in other videos. I was remvoing my hydroboost system and in every video I watched you undid the 4 bolts and it popped right out. I had to use a prybar on mine 🙄. Turns out one of the bolts was bent, making it impossible to gently slide it out like in every other video.

Let me know there is more to it and tackle it during the day instead of jumping into it tonight. Great Job! BTW...I'm thinking you had trouble unbolting the driveshaft, cause' Ford uses green loctite the on driveshaft bolts. A torch is almost always needed! If you order the yoke bolts from a Ford dealer, they come with a strip of hardened loctite on the threads, which makes them just as hard to go on as they are to come off! $ .02 ;-)

    • @SandraBegotka

    • @SandraBegotka
      @SandraBegotka  หลายเดือนก่อน

      We didn't have the correct Puller....so we rigged 2 (too small) we had together. That wasn't ideal & it wasn't easy, but we finally got it. You can acquire a puller tool that works (is the right size). Here's a link to a picture of such a tool: www.peachparts.com/diy/w123driveshaftsupportbearing/10.jpg
      I've also heard some people cut the old one off using a cutting wheel/grinder.
      I'm sorry I don't remember the size of the pipe & I'm not where I can access it to measure. We went to Home Depot & found a short length that worked.

      Dave grew up in Two Rivers, Wisconsin....he knows all about vehicle cancer! He recalls when he was young, some of his vehicles had holes in the floor board and it was drafty in winter. There are houses for sale in TX like oats. Price varies wildly depending on where. Really economical in some parts of the state....the hot spots like around Austin...Waco...Dallas....much more $$ & prop. tax. But relatively a lot less than I saw up north. For instance: We owned a house in Wisconsin that was on a lot barely big enough for the 1920s house and our taxes in 1999 were higher than our property tax today for our 2011 built house on 6 acres. But like everywhere: it's always going up.

    • @SandraBegotka

      We used a bunch of cobbled together things. I think what we used was some Harbor Freight puller parts...not intended for this job & we went to Home Depot & got a short length of pipe the right diameter paired with a hammer to drive it back in. We do a lot of Macgivering I guess you could say.

    • @SandraBegotka
      @SandraBegotka  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well.....the drive shaft can be damaged...bent, etc. But, yes..... most of the time it is simply a matter of worn out bearings or joint.

    Having some trouble separating the two halves of the driveshaft. How did you do it?

    • @SandraBegotka
      @SandraBegotka  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're talking about the splines, ours just came apart. Make sure there's no clamp.....ours was already broken and spinning loose around the drive shaft. Sometimes gunk can build up enough to stop it coming apart. Make sure it's cleaned off....then put it in a vise and start pulling it back and forth SLOW. Make sure you put a mark on it so you get it clocked right when you put it back together!!!

      Gotta love Ford's designers liberal use of out of the ordinary sized and types of fasteners...like a goddam torx bit holding the rear u-joint onto the yoke. Oh well, hey at least I finally get to knock the dust off my 16 and 18 mm sockets.....so I got that going for me, along with a brand new T-45 torx bit socket!

He broke his back in 1999....after several surgeries and lots of different "treatments", the problems associated with that injury have steadily increased. He has chronic pain and even light exertion brings exaggerated fatigue. There are always breaks during the work he does that you don't see in the videos....he has to go sit down and rest a lot.
