  • I spent hours troubleshooting poor engine performance while using the KIPA carb. I removed the carburator and rebuilt it no less than 7 times. Checked compression, emptied gas take to make sure the fuel wasn't stale, replaced the petcock to make sure it wasn't being starved of fuel... in the end the KIPA carb was just a piece of junk. Ordered another one (everyone has a bad day every now and then) and it was junk too. Finally cleaned my original Mikuni carb and it purrs like a kitten.

    Always spend the money on a rebuild kit with mikuni...

    You don’t need the o choke for the kipa and you could’ve rejetted the kipa and would’ve run right

    Mine won’t idle. I ordered a mikuni carb rebuild kit off eBay, they sent me the wrong kit, I needed one for the yfm225 and they sent one for the 350. Some days it refuses to start, then the next day it’ll fire right up. Strange. Might order a new ignition coil to see if that helps

    Not brass. It's grade 8 steel

    Kipa needs to be jetted properly as in you need to change the jets to get it running properly

    I have a kipa vm18 or vm28 I don't know because the description on Amazon is terrible I had problems getting jets for mine I asked the community on Amazon and was told that mikuni vm18 would work so I ordered a 36$ kit and guess what didn't fit im not to pleased with kipa carburetor's but live and learn just buy the mikuni

    End of that vid it looks like a 85 pet coco on there… and where does that clear line from under carb to moon go

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an 86, good eye. The clear line goes down and clips to the side of the engine to allow excess gas in the float bowl to drain out onto the ground (the EPA would have a field day in 2022)

    Does anyone know the part number for the mikuni carb?

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's 59V-14101-00-00 but it is 300 bucks. I ended up cleaning mine (original mikuni) and it's been doing great for years now. Didn't replace anything just took it apart and blew out the jets with an air hose... Don't do it over grass like I did lol. Good luck.

      @@striker1211 do you know if the 225 carb and the 250 carb are the same?

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brandondewitte6056 I do not, I don't have experience with the 250, I've never seen one. Partzilla has good diagrams for older quad but usually I just get the part number and order it elsewhere for cheaper.
