  • Not overly impressed with what my mk4 was hiding inside. Personally, I would have expected the electronic components to have some degree of protection, and never to see butchering of a Minelli stock to bodge fit a working part of the rifle.

hi mate, just watched your video, with regards your stock and it being tampered with, the only explanation i would give is as it was a demonstration rifle, they have put a mk4 IS in an older mk4 stock, they have chipped it out because the pressure sensor would not have fitted otherwise, a bit of a butchers job yes but it has been done because it was only a demonstration rifle, one of the daystate staff would of originally owned this and they have sold it on, i have just looked at my mk4 IS and the inletting is longer to allow for the pressure sensor, the original mk4 had a pressure gauge, i wouldnt worry about it as its internal anyway lol, they are superb rifles and very very accurate

I'm no longer a fan of daytate rifles although I still service and repair them for owners. My point was, (even if it has been a demonstrator rifle) this could have been done better. A lot better. It was poorly done. Having a lot more experience of the various models of Daystates, both mechanical & electrical / electronic, is that they lool nice on the outside. Their customer service leaves a nasty taste, and its simply better to get on with fixing them, than to consider how some poor soul had his wallet extracted while bent over.

The electronics are triple coated in a waterproof varnish. At a show they left an MCT action in a tank of water for 48 hours then took it out and fired it with no issues. It looks bare but it’s actually waterproofed

Yes, I understood this to be the case, yet I got readings from various places. I believe from the serial number, this was a 2011 demonstrator rifle, serviced by Daystate before sale.

Maybe that explains the woodwork mangling inside the stock

Are you saying they didn't do it in 2011?. I find that either unlikely, or extremely short sighted. Have you heard the response to the Red Laminate losing it's dye all over a customer? On the lines of 'Not our problem, we don't make the stock'. They clearly don't understand strict liability.

I meant that as it was a demonstration rifle they may have had to alter an early production stock to make it fit

Ah! with you now. Possibly, but the rifle was in production in 2009 wasn't it?

Long shot, that you are, and that you'll see this, but are you the guy that makes custom fill / pellet probes please?

I see the “published” date of video is March 2018. Is the gun used new or is it a few years old?

Sale date of gun was March 2017 on receipt (corrected by sales team from 2016 to 2017 on both sales receipt and the service receipt). I believe Daystate make a big deal of the electronics being dipped (4 times) in something that allows the electronics to be submerged in water (which they apparently used to do at shows) and still be fine. While doing the felt mod for the battery rattle, I saw no evidence of this. That and the battery connectors still appear exposed in any case. Someone got back to me with a date for the rifle from its serial number with a manufacture date of 15/11/11, which doesn't make sense, but is possible.

@@Erasmuspipebagger1 an early rifle then. have read they squeeze silicone into the electrical connectors, was thinking about getting one of these mk4 Daystate's but they seem to be only a£100 or so cheaper than new,I think I'd get new with the 3 or 4 year warranty.
