Yeah she is a badass! she is good on a dirtbike, surfboard, and can figure out pretty much anything she puts her mind too! I feel super lucky. Thanks for the nice comment!
I’m a new Mtb‘er At 37 and my daughter at 8 years old. After watching your video we were manualing down our street and wheelie-ing back up in 20 minutes. Thanks awesome video, Australia.
I'm very impressed with her eagerness to learn. A lot of us fail to progress because we aren't humble enough to leave our comfort zone and be vulnerable. Nice work you two!
I’ve watched a million how to manual videos, and have to say this is the best because it pauses to describe what not to do. Most other ones talk about doing an L shape and all that, but if you’re doing it wrong you won’t know what to fix. And I practically ripped the arm out of my shoulder once trying to figure it out, and after seeing this the lightbulb has gone off. I’ve been stretching my legs completely out causing my torso to lean forward.... thank you Kyle!!!
I just want to drop by and say how great is it to see someone who had a really painful and pretty nasty fall who is still beginner not quit and come back and ACE it! big ups
Thank you so much! Yeah that was a scary one and it was before I had ever had any coaching. It helps so much being a little more confident in using the right technique!

You guys have great chemistry for the camera. Also great attitudes. After watching a few of your tutorials, I can't watch anyone else! Keep up the great content 😊
The two of you are perfect in demonstrating a technique and then watching April as she incrementally gets to the point she does it is the best tutor for me. Many videos show a pro (Kyle) doing it four or five times and then some brief, incomplete explanation. Many times others forget to cover foot position and other key information. Thanks to you both for your great videos and other pros should watch them to understand how to teach better.
I just discovered these videos. I can't wait to practice what you are teaching. It is so helpful to see someone else learning, rather than perfect run after perfect run. Please keep them up!
Kyle, I have been a pretty advanced mtb rider for a while now. I have been a licensed coach for a couple years. Your videos have made me a better coach this summer. Many expert athletes cannot break down fundamentals and understand the struggles of beginners. You are a gifted teacher.
Kyle, you are such a great teacher, excellent explanations, sensitive to April's pace and very supportive and encouraging. April, you are such a determined student, a fast learner and a brave person, not just for trying new things, but for putting it on film. I started watching these videos in the winter, so I won't likely get a chance to practice for a few months, but I'm looking forward to it. Thank you both.
Such good basic explanation without over talking. I appreciate this. Having April is the perfect person (Note, you are really good at making one feel at ease.) Cheers
I have been trying to manual for a while now, and I still can't get it. I think I have good form, and I know that I'm not pulling up with my arms. I was wondering if my frame shape has to do with it, since it is low and long, (30 LBS) and 26" wheels. I am also under 100 LBS so was wondering if that has to do with it. Thanks!
It is hard to know without seeing. Try filming yourself and comparing it to Kyle when he does a good manual in this video. I know that common problems I have are looking down, not squatting enough (in this video I usually had my legs too straight and you can see how much bend Kyle gets) and another thing is not getting my hips back enough. -April
My wife is very new to mountain biking and last week she was practicing just getting the front end off the ground to go over small rocks etc. She was so excited, but was sore the next day from pulling up and back so much. This video is great, so she can see to just get the hips back. Nice job to you both. Thank you!
Nice work, one of the better manual tutorials out there and I've watched them all (including the ones in different languages with no subtitles). You nail the subtleties that make a huge difference (heels down and looking straight ahead) and are easy to forget about. Love to see you put out a thorough J-hop tutorial in the future! Thanks for sharing.
I am a new rider and just started learning the manual this week. In my opinion, this is a great video seeing ab actual new person learning. (I literally said "yes!" on her second attempt over the rollers). Thanks for the lesson!
thank you Kyle and April, the technical aspect of Kyle's explanation plus the learner's hesitation by April (which is how my son and feel) make it so real, relatable and easy to understand the steps to go into doing a MANUAL correctly. thank you so much again Kyle and April! you guys are awesome!
I think I’ve watched all your how to videos today (slow work day haha). These are soooo good man. I’m a mid 30s guy trying to figure this stuff out and you make it seem easy. Can’t wait to get home and try figuring this stuff out. Going to subscribe to your channel so I don’t miss anything

Kyle, I have been a pretty advanced mtb rider for a while now. I have been a licensed coach for a couple years. Your videos have made me a better coach this summer.
Many expert athletes cannot break down fundamentals and understand the struggles of beginners. You are a gifted teacher.
That is awesome! Thank you so much!
April shreds 🤘🏼Great Video. Head down tip is 💰
Thanks Patrick! Yeah I hope it can help you guys out!
Your like a younger version of Toby from the office
Such good basic explanation without over talking. I appreciate this. Having April is the perfect person (Note, you are really good at making one feel at ease.) Cheers
my checks hurt if i smile as much and as long as they do
You got skills bro this channel needs sharing asap you explain things the simplest way possible and it's very understandable.
-April
@@AprilRideMTB ok👍 I'll try.
My wife is very new to mountain biking and last week she was practicing just getting the front end off the ground to go over small rocks etc. She was so excited, but was sore the next day from pulling up and back so much. This video is great, so she can see to just get the hips back. Nice job to you both. Thank you!
Darin White that’s so awesome! Thank you for the nice comment! Hope that this helps her get the concept down!
10:13 was i the only one that Heard wow hes fast
Nice work, one of the better manual tutorials out there and I've watched them all (including the ones in different languages with no subtitles). You nail the subtleties that make a huge difference (heels down and looking straight ahead) and are easy to forget about. Love to see you put out a thorough J-hop tutorial in the future! Thanks for sharing.
yeah bunny hop will be next week!
She's better than me LOL
When she hit those rollers I got so excited haha. Such a confidence booster to motivate you. Love how you teach through these videos
Thank you so much Zach!
0:31 "And today I'm going use my girlfriend." I thought he referred his bike as his girlfriend...
I don’t even have a bike....I don’t know why I’m watching this video....good job , thumbs up
I thought he called his bike as his girlfriend
I love the way they can't look at each other without smiling.
You guys are amazing! Inspiring (from a 61-year-old mountain biker in Cyprus)!
Wow, thanks! im glad you are liking the videos!
I am a new rider and just started learning the manual this week. In my opinion, this is a great video seeing ab actual new person learning. (I literally said "yes!" on her second attempt over the rollers). Thanks for the lesson!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much for watching Blair!
Kyle and April- Thank you so much for captioning your videos. Your tutorials are great!
No problem! We hope to do a little better job soon too and add some new languages!
@@AprilRideMTB Thank you for that!
Very fast learning. i've been struggling with the same trick for a long time. thumbs up April!
one of the best feelings in the world when you manual your first rollers
I hereby declare Kyle & April to be the best mountain biking tutorial channel. THANK YOU!!
Wow, thanks! :)
thank you Kyle and April, the technical aspect of Kyle's explanation plus the learner's hesitation by April (which is how my son and feel) make it so real, relatable and easy to understand the steps to go into doing a MANUAL correctly. thank you so much again Kyle and April! you guys are awesome!
Happy to help!
Thank you David, glad you like them! We hope to put out a lot more valuable videos again this year 😊
