Great session as usual. Can we see a little more of you using them during trail runs? The snippet in this video helped me to understand their practical application a bit more.
I once flipped my Specialized Hardrock over me. Somehow I landed on my feet. I grabbed too much brake in the rain that day and I pretty much stopped riding after that.
Many years later, I have just gotten confidence to use my front brake more. I sit back, feather the rear and engage the front more fully. I rode 30 miles around the city doing so with increased confidence by the day's end.
I wonder where I learned that?😉 It's amazing how understanding the mechanics of a maneuver can improve confidence and performance. Well, that and practice.

10:58 Some little detail i noticed you doing is utilizing another contact point by "grabbing" the *top tube* with your knees - not tightly, _just_ enough to help you gage and thereby manage the tilt of the bike!
(A thing i like to do with my _inner_ knee when cornering fast on flat ground as i lean the bike over.)
Nice session - thank you for sharing! 🙏🏻

Touching the frame when doing trackstand makes them so much easier. I can basically stand still with no corrections (it feels like anyway) when holding my leg against the top tube

Girl, Guy, I'm just a french MTB rider who loves riding everywhere (XC, Enduro) and now trying to get more skills on my bike control and agility (manual, wheelie, stoppie..) before my son (he's 4 years' old and already riding a lot :-) ).
I honnestly watch lot of videos, many of them were good, but I really appreciate yours more than any others. Your both style is perfect, I have the feeling to be part of your day and able to catch so many details I missed previously.
April is crazy learning so quickly (I'm jealous :-) ) even if I understood she's not a real beginner, but that's crazy and you are a so great teacher.
You could really train lot of people around the world to become good teachers on their own discipline.

    Hi Peoples,
I just came across your videos recently - Great Job you 2! Seriously, you describe what's going on really well and I love how you don't rush things and often mention the necessary time commitment even/especially when it's off-camera. But I think the best part is just seeing you have fun while learning some kinda/pretty scary skills (I'm thinking more about the drops video now, but the whole endo site-picture is really scary - especially if you've gone over hard and bad a few times - my face can attest).
I wish I'd found your clips earlier, all the best and success to you and, thanks again!

I subscribed to this channel because y'all produce really good training vids for riders of all ages. You take the time to explain the skill you're teaching, the steps/processes needed to achieve the goal(s) and, most importantly, the things that could happen if we mess up and ways to get around them. I don't have any hills where I live, but the various hike and bike trails do have some changes in elevation so I can at least practice a few things. [April reminds me of one of my good work friends - always smiling, positive attitude and a heart made of gold.] Thanks for the tips and keep 'em coming!!

The advice at 8:53 about brake timing is the single most relevant I’ve ever seen on a stoppie youtube tutorial. I was struggling and that detail alone changed my game in 5 minutes! Thanks to both of you...

Another excellent video both of you and congrats April on master both these parking lot skills in such a short space of time. I like that way you mention how long April has been trying between final runs, helps the user understand it isn't just an hour on a basket ball court.

Another excellent video! When I rode sports motorbikes I used to practice stoppies not just to amuse the public but also to improve my brake control - you wont find anyone that has poor brake control thats good at stoppies. Although an impressive car park trick, there is real benefit out on the trails too.

    • @AprilRideMTB
      @AprilRideMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

For sure. Wheelies, stoppies, bunny hops are impressive parking lot tricks, but are still useful on the trail!
