    Thank you for this video. This has helped me get organized with my Wensleydale quilt. I stopped because I was overwhelmed choosing fabrics. Thank you again.

    This is sew Genius! I have sewn and quilted for 40 years! I can coordinate fabric perfectly. This quilt to me is what I call "ugly" BEAUTIFUL ! Why is because a lot of the fabrics in Jen kingwell's quilt do not match. I'm attracted to it because my grandmother made quilts like this from shirts, any kind of fabric she could get her hands on. This is very emotionally beautiful to me!
    Your video is sew flawless on how to go against my matching methods!! I just found u because Jen Kingwall was on Lisa Bonjean channel. Thank you sew very much for this. I will be doing this today ! Subscribe to your channel 😊❤❤❤

      Thank you So So much. I have always had a hard time trying to make stuff scrappy. When we did our first bundle it almost took half the fabrics we had! We still try and find a selection that coordinates but several aren't matchy matchy. Have fun! I hope you have a blast

    Thank you so much for this video. It gave me the courage to actually begin this quilt. I bought the book, made handmade templates and created one scrappy block. Not bad but not great either. After watching this video, i created a paper guide like your fabric one for the different sections. Next, i reviewed videos on foundation paper piecing. i purchased the papers and today made my first sample block. Beautiful! I just needed help with planning this project . Thank you again!

    ABSOLUTELY loved this video. I made a 'map' on a paper that shows the layout of the 6.25" strip. Awesome, have made 28 blocks, and I still refer to it piecing each block.
    However, I went one step further. On my Cutting table (60" x 40") I lay out masking tape on the cutting mat so that I can lay SEVERAL WOF strips, cutting each section, each of the sub-sections.
    I don't worry about the smaller sizes. (yeah, my first block is way oversized, but doesn't matter when trimming). Then I sort in to groups, stack, then do the sub-cutting along with my paper piecing.
    TOTALLY worth purchasing the pre-printed papers.

    • @quiltedchicken
      @quiltedchicken  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That sounds like a great idea. Unless you do miniature quilts, the excess you cut off for the first piece is probably waste anyways so smart thinking!

    • @BettyBaker411
      @BettyBaker411 หลายเดือนก่อน

      IMO, the book was totally useless. I would never have made the quilt with her instructions.
      Also working on her Diamond quilt. Had a bundle of fat eights that are awesome. Using her templates on that one.

      @BettyBaker411 I know she prefers the templates and uses a lot of scraps, but I really enjoyed the inspiration from all the quilts in the book. We'll be doing another math breakdown soon for the Shooting Star papers.
