Liberty is a core value to me, the ability to move about and learn according to my nature. Purpose, things to do for others and for my future. Health through good food, exercise, and hydration. Leisure to contemplate and integrate the first three when I get thirsty. Morality is more of a shell to protect my rights to pursue happiness on the four wheels laid out. I can get by on two but you asked for five so. Onward.

      2. Freedom

      4. Creativity
      5. Having control over my time
I really needed to pray about it and ask God and search my heart.

I’ve retired from two different career fields and I see business owners STRESSED O U T managing their businesses and while some are happy, most are slaves to their jobs and seldom take vacations, travel or other hobbies let alone take time for self care.
As someone said, and I agree:
    1. Your health should be your number one priority because w/out health you have nothing
    2. Freedom to do what you want, even if it’s basic like fishing, swimming, travel, volunteering or anything that makes you happy
    3. Love & family or people who love and care about you and you love & care about them is important but not always necessary for everyone, especially if you’re pretty much a loner and enjoy your own company and lifestyle choices.
    Wishing everyone the best!
Thank you for this excellent post!

What's most important is being able to live life on my own terms, and not have to care what anyone thinks or have to appeal to anyone.
I retired well short of the usual retirement age, just walked out of my job and moved to a warmer, lower cost country, to be close to nature and enjoy life in the slow lane.
There are three things you need before you can even consider yourself happy:
    1. Good health. Without it, you have nothing.
    2. Enough money to live on. But you don't need to be rich.
    3. Plenty of free time to savour the pleasant moments.
I don't know anyone who has all three! Most people in developed countries are poles apart from the three points above, living life in a mad rush, chasing money and status, and trying to impress friends and family. A rushed life cannot possibly be an enjoyable one.

I like your take on the 3 important things.
What l see in my country with its new found oil bonanza is more poverty, more busyness, more family fragmentation, more corruption... it stinks.
Not saying this as if l am all set financially , so l can look at others from my pedestal.
      So sad. Really.

We are going through a change in America right now. The old American values of success and material gain are becoming harder to obtain. Many people are upset and unhappy with this change. Once they embrace their true inner core values instead of our learned values, the move towards a simpler life will seem natural and welcome. Life always changes. Even values change. Solid core values can be like a rock to anchor yourself to in uncertain times.

Values are interesting, but understanding what virtues are core to you will simplify every choice and path in your life. They tell you if your values (what you want) and actions (what you do) align with your understanding of the world.
My core virtues are Earnestness, Trustworthiness, inquisitivity, and Commitment.

    • @abrokemillionaire
      @abrokemillionaire  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@GaryMalcolm Your values can be virtues that you find to be partucularly important to you but they dont have to be. Family can be a value but that isnt a virtue in and of itself. Your values are what is important to you...as in your understanding of what is important to you in the world. But lets not nitpick each other. The important thing is that you have them and they provide you with a foundation for your choicesin life. Well done Sir!

Obtaining & maintaining your values is the only blueprint to achieve true happiness. Yet, I would go further as to say you should split your values into two categories being: spiritual values & material values, and ranking them in level of importance. This will greatly enhance the clarity of your decisions when having to face adversity or make crucial choices. Top 5 Spiritual values would be: Reason/Logic, Pride, Honesty, Integrity and Productiveness. Top 5 Material values would be: Physical Health/Attractiveness, Family/Friends, Art/Craftsmanship, Good Food and Sex.
