@Tatum Blaine I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
bc Vocal Spectrum's version has a power they are lacking since they werent singing this in a barbershop sytle. They still did great, it's just not the same
Not often comment on youtube, but for this i have to make an exception. Been watching this channel for a while and it just goes from strength to strength! Keep up the great work! Sensational singing!
Having done this arrangement before, the nostalgia was so wonderful. I must congratulate the lead for his post. It's not easy when other famous groups have ridiculous breath control, but kudos.
This song is one of my all time favorites and y’all did amazing. I had to rewind a couple times because I couldn’t believe Phillip held the note for that long. I was awestruck. Such phenomenal talent. The tone, the harmonies, the voices together...superb. Will definitely have this on repeat.
No disrespect, as this performance was absolutely fantastic, especially for being live, but the immediate thing that jumped out at me was that the Vocal Spectrum recording has better phrasing and breath control between phrases - an aspect sought after in the barbershop style, sometimes called the "wall of sound." Some of the lines seemed to end a bit suddenly in this recording, and it's probably party caused by the nature of it being a live performance (and I would love to hear a studio version from these guys where they can take all the time they need to record!).
This is the first time I've liked this arrangement. (I've listened to many arrangements and recordings of this song). You guys made me like this version. Thanks!
omg! Just fantastic! Everything.....from the clever interludes, to the melodic tempo changes...to that sustained note at the end!!! Just wow. Well done, guys. Very well done!
Aaron dale arranges for many barbershops groups as he is a vet of the Barbershop society which is where this comes from. This arrangement is actually written specifically for Vocal Spectrum (Tim Waurick is the lead in Vocal Spectrum).
OK, Melodores. I took your advice and listened to more of your stuff. While listening to this one, I got chillbumps. Told my wife that, and she said she did too. Need I say more? Beautiful tone, guys. Beautifully sung. I will subscribe. Do you guys compete barbershop? If not, you should. Some of them are REALLY good, too, but you guys would DEFINITELY have a shot. Was there ANY autotune involved? If not, exquisite pitches, to my ear, really on top of them all the way through. I'm no expert, but I heard NOTHING wrong. Pretty much Kings Singers kind of pitch control. Tell me this was studio overdubbed sound. I ask because the reverb sounds pretty realistic. If not, whoever did the sound system, room, and sound work for the concert deserve some SERIOUS praise, too. Pretty much unbelievable. AND that 17 second last note! Have you heard any of this guys stuff? Totally opposite, super post processed, exceedingly overdubbed, but a really cool final output...another take on this same piece, have a listen: th-cam.com/video/0ROfR39TRBQ/w-d-xo.html
@@wyattstevens8574 I'll take your word for it, it has been too long to remember. I wouldn't remember it if I'd said it four days ago, never mind four YEARS. :-) I probably didn't have a stopwatch and settled for the 1 Mississippi mode, or more likely yet, just took a shot at it. If I pointed it out it must have been impressive, though.
This is probably the cleanest performance of this arrangement as far as intonation goes so amazing Job! My one complaint about this performance is that starting around the 2:45 mark, at the end of phrases, the lead bari and bass should have held their notes until the tenor starts the next phrase, that way the chord progressions sound a bit more complete, but again this is such a fantastic performance of this arrangement and probably the cleanest of its kind so still a superb job

Liked for the 22 second note ;-)
Sound Arguments Podcast we are still trying to comprehend it...
HOLY COW you are not kidding! That was incredible!
36!
That last note. How on earth did he sustain that? Wow!
Check the tim waurick one, he held it for 3 more bars
@@lukekul297 I just timed that one....36.6 seconds on a single breath (including the pickups) with no loss of power.....holy mother of God!
@@samsignorelli indeed
Very clean, boys! I love this
The bass guy sounds awesome as well as whole choir!
Octave pedal but yes he is very good
Phillip Kim is one of the most gifted singers I’ve ever hear
Vocal Spectrum would be proud, wonderful job guys!
That is legitimately the best version of this arrangement I've heard yet. Very nicely done!
Squirrelly Joe 🙌😊
I agree. Best version!
It’s live-mixed so it has a huge advantage over basically every other non-studio performance on YT
Acapella arrangers : how long can you hold one note?
Choir homeboy : "yes."
tim warucik held it for 3 mroe bars
Dang. Nice. Good levels on the mics too, normally live performances are rubbish for audio.
GizEdwards Thanks, yeah our sound guy Shane is one of a kind!
I don't think people realize how on point this is woww
Phillip better hold that note! Yessss
Wow!!! Amazing! The length of that final note was insane....
vandygrad97 believe it or not, he can keep going...
You should check out the original Vocal Spectrum, Tim Waurick goes 32 seconds. It pretty crazy. These guys did a good job as well :)
Barbershop, baby. =D
@@VanderbiltMelodores Have you ever performed this and had Philip at least match Tim's post at the end?

Dude held that final note for 26 seconds holy hell. And awesome sounds overall
I’m pretty sure all of the views are from me watching this the past three years. Still give me chills ❤️
No words 🌟
Bro that was heaven sent. God was on your side in that performance
This is the only thing i want from life: to perform with a group who LOVES acapella as much as i do

The absolute insane pitch accuracy of the bass. WOW!

damn that was great, pitch, tone and balance all spot on!
So in tune!
Real
1:46 omg the tenor's hand motions, SAME. interestingly enough it does actually make the tenor part sound clearer in a weird way
The baritone's voice is like butter.
Best of the best.Nothing can beat this
Best quartet go the distance I've ever heard!! Literally so perfect!
Listen to Vocal Spectrum
Logan's right: Vocal Spectrum recorded this first!
Just listened to vocal Spectum's version and it's not better at all. Plus, "First to do it" doesn't equal better

I love how they swap the Lead (Schmid) and Tenor (Kim) part smoothly in the middle until the end of the song.
That’s actually the same thing that vocal spectrum does because of that last note that the lead has
Oml I love disney!! And u guys, of course!

Omg boys! Great cover! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
about 21 seconds... madness. Good job guys
I heard a bit of Tim Waurick's rendition from earlier in the year towards the end
I wonder if these guys were the ones that made this arrangement
its arranged by arron dale, and he sells his arrangements ig

For just a few minutes I forgot all my problems. Thank you!
I have often dreamed of a far off place
Where a great warm welcome would be waiting for me
Where the crowds would cheer, when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be
I'll be there someday, I can go the distance
I will find my way if I can be strong
I know every mile would be worth my while
When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong
Down an unknown road to embrace my fate
Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you
And a thousand years would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime but somehow I'll see it through
And I won't look back, I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track, no I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope
But I won't loose hope, 'till I go the distance
And my journey is complete, oh yeah
But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart, oh
Like a shooting star, I will go the distance
I will search the world, I will face its harms
I don't care how far, I can go the distance
'Till I find my hero's welcome waiting in your arms
I will search the world, I will face its harms
'Till I find my hero's welcome waiting in your arms

jesus that jump of the bass and his mouth shape is just absurd
Great job...I still prefer the original lyrics "...I will please my gods..."
Me too. I rationalize the use of the singular by thinking it's Hercules referring to Zeus.
I honestly think this is better than vocal spectrum
2nd from the left looks like a young Todd Chrisley
This is a barbershop quartet arrangement
It sure is!
You guys nailed it - Vocal Spectrum would be proud of you. Excellent, you guys need to enter the Collegiate Contest
Why does every group change "I will please the gods" to "I will please my god"?
