      What is tagging?

    • @cathywhite5628
      @cathywhite5628 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@joke5735 A tag is the last, climactic end part of a barbershop song. There tend to be a lot of held notes and cool chord progressions that resolve satisfyingly. In this song, I'd say it starts around 3:20. Another barbershop term is a "post" which is a single held note that stays constant throughout all or part of the tag. The tenor has a really long post on this song.

      Finally. FINALLY SOMEONE IS LISTENING!!!!! Thank you WIlliam Warren for recognizing the best kept "secret" this group of 4 ridiculously talented individuals has to offer!Jonny Moroni is without a doubt the best Bari I have ever heard. Just tune everything else and listen to him. Look, I do realize it is not easy to make such a statement among these 4 guys. They are all 'over the top' excellent and my favorites of the more modern groups, saying that with Dealers Choice as Number 1 of all time.Jonny, is just flawless among four flawless ones. Ok he's 101 percent flawless with 3 running at 100 percent flawless.How else can it be said?!That is the highest compliment to the 3 and a Gold Star added for Mr. Moroni. Now don't you 3 go pouting you hear? You are still unmatched this side of DC/Innsiders timeframe. Please note, that is from a looooooong time ago - I have the LP's and saw them both live. Let me tell you, seeing DC "live" is surreal. You cannot believe what you are hearing.Ok ok. If this doesn't make you cry, then this will: th-cam.com/video/qKdJsCUwulw/w-d-xo.html It's "How Could I Ever Know," sung again by Instant Classic.)
      th-cam.com/video/tqwkJGMOEbs/w-d-xo.html Lunch Break (a very famous comedy quartet who sadly never won), Old Macdonald Had a Deformed Farm (This is both hilarious and iconic.)

    • @Paul_K_
      @Paul_K_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean that's just because the tenor of Vocal Spectrum is the quartet member who posts. It could just as easily be a lead post with bari and tenor above lead at the end, which isn't inherently unusual.

      @DreadPirateRobbo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the baritone, they're the filling that makes the 4 part harmony. Much of the time their job is to not stand out and to make everybody else sound better. Their baritone is quite good at his job.

      Alot? the bari is the power of the chords. 3:12 to the end he arguably has the most important part.
      Sometimes the most important things in songs are things you dont even necessarily hear, but feel.
      This is why when trying to sing this back to someone its easiest to find and sing the melody or highest note.
      Doesnt mean the other ones dont need to exist, there is a reason he is furthest from the mic.
      The best quartet ever practices the resonance between bari and bass and imo thats why they the best

      Yup! When they perform it live it starts in B and modulates to C, whereas the album version starts in C and goes to C#.

      +Michael Bang barbershop harmonies also require different arrangements for the same reason. If it were in the original key it may well have been unsingable for at least one member.

    Is it just me or is the bass REALLY nasal?

    • @NikoPorter
      @NikoPorter 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Tim James - he has an extremely forward placement, but not nasal. Nasal goes beyond that, by a lot. Chris has a bright and forward tone with tons of depth. He has one of the best ranges on a bass that I’ve ever seen. He goes down to B1 in one of their songs. And as you can see in this tag he sings very high. But again, his placement is extremely forward, but not nasal

      @NikoPorter When does chris do this if you dont mind me asking? I know chris is definitely an underrated bass, but i didn't know he was a monster bass.
