      Do you go thru the entire carb when you know its the metering diaphragm or do you just install gaskets like I did?

    Not that its a 2 stroke but i just got a used wood splitter and I'm not kidding the carb was the worst ive ever seen with the white crusty hard crust from water! I threw it in a jar and in the ultrasonic using super clean and it actually did the trick! I changed the bowl on bottom of carb though it was just easiest to do! Good stuff see ya next time! Oh wood splitter works great!

      I've heard that Super Clean works well. I might have to try it myself. I don't clean many carbs that way but I do use the ultrasonic a lot for other parts. Thanks.

    Scott, fuel mix came past the decompression fitting and I wonder if that might also allow air leak. Do saws that size really do not need decomp fittings for most useres.

    • @TheGreasyShopRag

      The fuel came past because the button was pushed in but yes they can leak and allow air in. I've done warranty claims on just that. No, they are not needed and Husqvarna has eliminated them from many models.

      My old 353 saw had an air leak on the de comp valve, so I deleted it. Went with a plug and she starts just fine.

      @@daphlavor Thats not an uncommon story. I'm starting to think that if you need a decomp to start it maybe a battery saw is a better option.

  • @williamemerson1799

    This might be a dumb question (my specialty) but if the gas is flowing from the tank enough to flood the saw, why did it not show up on the pressure test? 👍🍺

    • @TheGreasyShopRag

      I think what happens is that the first pump of air travels past the open needle and into the chamber where it pops the diaphragm up, thus closing the needle.

    Why did the pressure test hold when the metering diaphragm had the needle valve open

    • @TheGreasyShopRag

      Because with the needle open the pressure was pushing directly on the diaphragm and it moved to a position where the needle would then close.
