I just unboxed a new Microsoft Surface that I wanted to keep clean and simple, and the first thing OneDrive did was splatter dozens of files from my desktop computer onto the desktop of my Surface. When I turned off the Desktop backup option as you described, presto, they all magically disappeared from my Surface (but not my desktop computer)! Made my day!
I really appreciate this. Office 365 has been incredibly confusing, and customer support for a lot of the programs, services, and devices associated with the computer and internet services seems to be increasingly staffed by people who use jargon that only a computer programmer would know. This cut right to the heart of one of the problems I've been having. Thank you.

Da qualche tempo ho un problema sul mio portatile con Windows 11, mi si sono visualizzate delle fastidiosi quadratini verdi con delle spunte (V) e quadratini celesti con delle freccette (>>), questi quadratini sono presenti su tutti file Office, PDF e Immagini. Ho cercato a lungo sul WEB e su TH-cam per capire come risolvere il problema, ma non ho trovato nulla, l'unico video che ne parla attribuisce il problema a OneDrive, ma io avevo da tempo disinstallato OneDrive perchè non l'ho mai utilizzato. I use 2 different devices, a laptop and a desktop (mostly for gaming). I have been looking for a video that helps me have a different desktop on each device because every time I download something to the desktop on my Desktop (like a game) it shows up on my work laptop. Do these steps fix that issue?
I made the mistake of uninstalling one drive rather than unlinking it. Win11 kept the files linked. I attempted to delete them from one drive but it deleted all file from my laptop. What a mess. Fortunately had backed up files before installing Win11, but had to reload 68gig of files. I am now reinstalling onedrive. and will just unlink the dekstop per your instructions.

thanks i accidentley backed up my desktop onto my school onedrive this hellped a lot now to move it all

I uninstall onedrive and windows still save my files in this folder, if I delete those files also it deletes on the original location.

You have to unsync them. You can also use separate different login Id for each.
