I fell for the tab scam. This was around the time OSRS had no GE yet. I was flipping smoke battlestaffs (i believe they were between 8-13m at the time) it was addicting to flip without GE so I was south of west bank and it was around 3am when it happened. I was extremely tired... they pulled that exact scam. When he traded me the tab, i teled to falador and i couldnt find the guy he told me to meet. I tele back to varrock and find the dude that traded the tele and told him i couldn't find the dude he was reffering me to. He ignored me and then i finally looked at my inventory after 5 minutes and it hit me hard when I noticed what had happened. I just logged off and went to sleep. when i woke up, i felt extremely stupid for falling for such a simple scam like that.

If you're a fully maxed account with every single PvM gear in the game and billions of gp, you should be able to do the Inferno yourself. That's just sad they have to pay to get the cape when they've probably played the game for like 2,500+ hours.

That was me @8:02. I lost the cloak. I've never fallen for this before, and I know the scam and have declined previous attempts. My brain wasn't working and I was on mobile where my hand pretty much covered my side of the trade, which is why I knew what happened the moment I accepted and didn't have a 'ding' moment. I wouldn't have fallen for it if I was on my PC instead. It is what it is.

People should really just take the time to learn Inferno, even if you just try a few times a week you'll eventually get it down. I remember back in the day when I first did Zulrah I thought it was impossible but I eventually got it down and can do 2-3 kills in 1 inv. I know the inferno is 10 times harder than Zulrah but still, have confidence in yourself and never give up and you'll eventually get it.
@SirPugger do you think that adding a authenticator, like one you add to secure your account, to an unbalanced trade of 10m+ would prevent many of scams like these? Just curious about your thoughts on it
@@AuRowe sounds like an option to set on your account, so that any trade that has you 'losing' more than 10m (in this example) will negate the trade - and the trade is not possible until you authenticate with the authentication code

We just happen to only have proof they were buying a cape... they totally deserve to lose it all; hopefully quitting the game entirely and thus being 1 less person supporting bots.

"Tab scamming" has been around far before OSRS. I was remember back in like 08 someone tried scamming me for my whip by asking me to see it in a trade then asked if I needed food. I almost lost my whip this way because like those people in the video I was not paying attention.

I had someone at ge tell me to cone to the varrock castle and bring my gear. I did and he traded me and showed me 500m and a newsletter. Told me to drop my armor in a very specific square, trade him, and read the newspaper. The newspaper was now a teleport scroll. Luckily, I saw this and didn't do it.
I don't mind it to a degree, getting scammed on runescape can teach you a lot about life like; -if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is -the people willing to help you cheat the system aren't the kind of people you want to know at the end of the day it's just a game, what you lose in game is worth a lot less than the lessons you pick up along the way
So many fireworks, Pest Control, Entrana, Clan Wars, P mod scams in the past... also with those classic "drop party, follow me, let's teleother to location X" (and someone teleports you to Wilderness.) Yet the only scam I recall falling into was when someone swapped their black (g) item for a regular one... or when I bought loar remains for 30k as a "shade protection tool."
lost tbow and 27mill to a barbarian outpost scam, and i knew that scam, and most of you probably heard bots spamming "dont teleport to barbarian outpost in pvp world its not safe" but i fell for that scamm anyways because i was with friend on discord. as sirpugger said, never try to scam the scammer, its 99% of the time not worth it and you risk alot more in most cases. I was never scammed, never hacked since i started playing in 2005 and i fell for it mostly because guy was speaking my language, and for some reason unknown to me i subconciously decided to trust him. In any case, dont go in pvp worlds with your items, sell your stuff at ge, and dont click on anything, even in discord when it says its a picture. Just dont, trust me. Click nothing, go nowhere
The teamviewer scam happened to me when I tried to return to rs3 before osrs came out. I hate dungeoneering so I tried to buy a boost service that did the same thing - they would play and do my dungeoneering for me as efficiently as possible for a certain amount of hours. As soon as I logged in and entered my pin, he disabled my input and I watched him take a few hundred mil (my entire bank basically) in a matter of seconds. I even tried to alt f4 but it didn’t seem to work.
RSMAIN ( the website promoted by the OSRS clips channel) also does this. They offered everyone in their discord 3-5m to give them 5 star reviews before they launched their website and started promoting it on their channel.
Fun fact to avoid team viewer scam. Have a quick way to cut internet access. This is very easy for laptops as there's a built in button on the keyboard. Still pretty easy for desktops. You just need to make the hotkey.

Please for the love of god do an in-depth analysis type video on the demand for RS gp. What sites are popular? How is it being traded? What financial tools? What are the rates? Brief history of gold selling sites? What has Jagex done to limit these transactions? Interview people who buy the gold that create the demand. The more I watch your videos the more I've come to realize that gold farmers/sellers are less than 50% of the problem. The buyers create the market, not the other way around.

Hey SirPugger, I'm quite new to your channel but I'm enjoying these bot farm videos a lot and I want to ask you something. So, I found a bot farm in F2P worlds in runescape 3 that mines luminite in the dwarven mine, and I don't know if you're aware but luminite does go for a hefty amount in RS3 and since it's in the dwarven mine the bots stay relatively unharmed. I haven't checked if they're in PVP worlds but who knows maybe they are. Anyways, best of luck and looking forward for more content.
I would warn others about the other scam very similar to this in which they are buying item limit of some rarely traded item, stating that they already bought the item limit and need more. They sell that item on the GE at crazy high prices and then hops world when someone buys the item for them.

I've been seeing that "Buying [insert expensive item here] for [insert ridiculously overpriced offer here] a lot recently. Someone almost fell for it, but a lot of people piped up at the GE and said it was a scam. Hell, I even went to Camelot to see if the trader's main was there... They were not. As an RS3 player, I have to say it's crazy how deep some of the scams in OSRS go. Nothing against the game though. I don't know why we all hate on each other so much. In the end we're all still playing Runescape.
i remember about like 12 years ago when i was a youngin, scamming people by selling rune scimmys in note form and then quickly switching to an iron scimmy in note form and hoping they wouldnt realise, it worked like half the time hahaha

There's a scam or bot I'm not sure which but he pretends to be an UIM dropping loot in the wilderness right on the edge of multi above the ability shortcut to the grand exchange. He will only drop the armor if a high leveled player with expensive gear shows up. My friend logged in underneath him and picked up the things he was dropping but it was definitely a bait. My friend saw the main in ancestral and an arcane waiting.
the second scam you showed with the trade screen was also done years and years ago back in 2007-2008 at duel arena the scammer would ask people with lots of gp on their character if he could try to see his max hit the scammer would then say to take off all armour and untradables so that he can trade the victim food then the scammer would put full inventory of food in trade screen and then tell the victim to show inventory so that he can take out the right amount of food after the victim does this they would seem to forget they put all their items into trade screeen and voila
Ive seen scammers do this "telleother tab" scam. The scammer asks his victim to use a "telleother tablet" to deep wildy (usually an Annakarl tab) on them. Then trades the victim a "telleother tab". But heres the trick. Telleother tabs DO NOT EXIST, that they really trade you is normal teleport tab hoping you wont notice. Then the victim uses it, and BAM there in deep wildy surrounded by KPers.
Part of the demand for buying OSRS GP is likely because it's the cheapest way to pay for membership (at the moment at least). At $0.75/m, it only costs about $3/bond, which is $6/month membership.
Its plenty of level 3s in world 308 who is drop trading their cash stack in wildy all the time. Got two of them for 14m and 9m ea. When they see players near the ditch they start fighting eachother or hop world. Their location is right over ge castle level 2 wildy ditch.
Honestly 90% of the people I know in rs bot, and buy gp. They say the punishment for botting let’s say agility to 70 is only a ban that lasts a few days. As well as combat botting at crabs or dragons to make money is a minimal punishment to enjoy the account that botted to stats you want. Most people I know that but rs gp do it to fill their gambling needs at the duel arena. With Bonds being sellable or usable on other players means RS basically encourages buying gold, as long as it’s from them. The game has fallen far from what it was :( They also say there is no punishment for buying rs gold because no one I know has ever been caught
I felt ones in 2007 for the 'show your inventory for food' scam lol. They asked you to show inventory so they knew how many sharks to give... Man I lost my saradomin for some swordfish :(
I actually fell for this tele tab scam, luckily I didn’t loose what these other players lost, but I lost like 90m. The guy that scammed me even told me he would give it back and then asked me to help him scam others using my account, ya fooled me once but not twice.
i got scammed once along time ago from then I studied counter scamming and i ended up counter scamming for 10000x what I lost. They messaged me asking if i wanted to scam with them saying I was good at it. I said I wasn’t scamming you I was testing you and you failed. Later that month I caught him red handed recorded everything and he ended up getting arrested for it.
Those bots at the ge doing the tab scam also have pmod detection and will stop autotyping the second a pmod comes into render distance... Allowing them to stay longer without getting muted since the pmods have no evidence.
You say nobody deserves to have this happen in regards to maxed mains losing their shit for breaking the rules, but I think that's exactly what they deserve? It's not like there's any ambiguity in these cases, the people just straight up sought out and did something against the game's rules and lost nearly everything. That's the ideal situation.

Although trying to buy an Infernal cape IS against the rules, there's no malicious intent between all parties, the buyer gets their cape they want, the seller gets the money they want, everyone wins, but stealing their shit is NOT a win/win situation. Yes it's against the rules, but there's no malicious intent inherently in wanting to buy an infernal cape, so I don't see this anywhere close to justifiable.

Here is a tip from a Former Botter That used Dream Bot and Powerbot anyone doing anything and instant removing Random Event NPC's before they appear are bots. The Scripts can read that there is an NPC spawning and instant decline them. What you see is the puff of smoke from the NPC leaving yet they never showed up. These People are botting.

Not long ago one guy tried to scam me on rs3, asked me to buy him 1k invention potions, because he was on limit, told me that he will pay me 50m + price of potions. As soon as I tried to buy 1,they were not buying, he said I should try for 150k each, tried to buy 1,and ofcourse they were buying, he gave me 150k gp for trying to buy that potion for him. 4k gp potion for 150k ea, 1k needed and he could easily making 150mil. Dont be stupid people 😇
As sad as it is if you are paying 300 bucks to bypass inferno, losing your bank is a light punishment. Don't cheat and actually play and it will never be an issue.

That was me @8:02. I lost the cloak. I've never fallen for this before, and I know the scam and have declined previous attempts. My brain wasn't working and I was on mobile where my hand pretty much covered my side of the trade, which is why I knew what happened the moment I accepted and didn't have a 'ding' moment. I wouldn't have fallen for it if I was on my PC instead. It is what it is.

People should really just take the time to learn Inferno, even if you just try a few times a week you'll eventually get it down. I remember back in the day when I first did Zulrah I thought it was impossible but I eventually got it down and can do 2-3 kills in 1 inv. I know the inferno is 10 times harder than Zulrah but still, have confidence in yourself and never give up and you'll eventually get it.

That is pretty smart, even the bank PIN would work to be honest. I would do it as percentage instead though. Maybe 10% from higher of the values.

@@AuRowe sounds like an option to set on your account, so that any trade that has you 'losing' more than 10m (in this example) will negate the trade - and the trade is not possible until you authenticate with the authentication code

We just happen to only have proof they were buying a cape... they totally deserve to lose it all; hopefully quitting the game entirely and thus being 1 less person supporting bots.

"Tab scamming" has been around far before OSRS. I was remember back in like 08 someone tried scamming me for my whip by asking me to see it in a trade then asked if I needed food. I almost lost my whip this way because like those people in the video I was not paying attention.

I had someone at ge tell me to cone to the varrock castle and bring my gear. I did and he traded me and showed me 500m and a newsletter. Told me to drop my armor in a very specific square, trade him, and read the newspaper. The newspaper was now a teleport scroll. Luckily, I saw this and didn't do it.

-if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is
-the people willing to help you cheat the system aren't the kind of people you want to know
at the end of the day it's just a game, what you lose in game is worth a lot less than the lessons you pick up along the way
So many fireworks, Pest Control, Entrana, Clan Wars, P mod scams in the past... also with those classic "drop party, follow me, let's teleother to location X" (and someone teleports you to Wilderness.) Yet the only scam I recall falling into was when someone swapped their black (g) item for a regular one... or when I bought loar remains for 30k as a "shade protection tool."

lost tbow and 27mill to a barbarian outpost scam, and i knew that scam, and most of you probably heard bots spamming "dont teleport to barbarian outpost in pvp world its not safe" but i fell for that scamm anyways because i was with friend on discord.
as sirpugger said, never try to scam the scammer, its 99% of the time not worth it and you risk alot more in most cases.
I was never scammed, never hacked since i started playing in 2005 and i fell for it mostly because guy was speaking my language, and for some reason unknown to me i subconciously decided to trust him.
In any case, dont go in pvp worlds with your items, sell your stuff at ge, and dont click on anything, even in discord when it says its a picture.

The teamviewer scam happened to me when I tried to return to rs3 before osrs came out. I hate dungeoneering so I tried to buy a boost service that did the same thing - they would play and do my dungeoneering for me as efficiently as possible for a certain amount of hours. As soon as I logged in and entered my pin, he disabled my input and I watched him take a few hundred mil (my entire bank basically) in a matter of seconds. I even tried to alt f4 but it didn’t seem to work.
You know, I'd love to see a collab with SirPugger and Jim Browning to go against some of these RS hackers lol but that'll never happen
At first when i saw the bots in ge. I thought it was tricking people to instant buy items that the bots got for way cheaper.
RSMAIN ( the website promoted by the OSRS clips channel) also does this. They offered everyone in their discord 3-5m to give them 5 star reviews before they launched their website and started promoting it on their channel.
Fun fact to avoid team viewer scam. Have a quick way to cut internet access. This is very easy for laptops as there's a built in button on the keyboard. Still pretty easy for desktops. You just need to make the hotkey.

The worst part is pugger probably cash apped the person 10$ so they could buy McNuggets.
It cost a 20 piece nugget, large French fries, a drink, and one sir pugger to fund this video.

Please for the love of god do an in-depth analysis type video on the demand for RS gp. What sites are popular? How is it being traded? What financial tools? What are the rates? Brief history of gold selling sites? What has Jagex done to limit these transactions? Interview people who buy the gold that create the demand.
The more I watch your videos the more I've come to realize that gold farmers/sellers are less than 50% of the problem. The buyers create the market, not the other way around.

Hey SirPugger, I'm quite new to your channel but I'm enjoying these bot farm videos a lot and I want to ask you something. So, I found a bot farm in F2P worlds in runescape 3 that mines luminite in the dwarven mine, and I don't know if you're aware but luminite does go for a hefty amount in RS3 and since it's in the dwarven mine the bots stay relatively unharmed. I haven't checked if they're in PVP worlds but who knows maybe they are. Anyways, best of luck and looking forward for more content.
I would warn others about the other scam very similar to this in which they are buying item limit of some rarely traded item, stating that they already bought the item limit and need more. They sell that item on the GE at crazy high prices and then hops world when someone buys the item for them.

I've been seeing that "Buying [insert expensive item here] for [insert ridiculously overpriced offer here] a lot recently.
Someone almost fell for it, but a lot of people piped up at the GE and said it was a scam. Hell, I even went to Camelot to see if the trader's main was there... They were not.

As an RS3 player, I have to say it's crazy how deep some of the scams in OSRS go. Nothing against the game though. I don't know why we all hate on each other so much. In the end we're all still playing Runescape.
i remember about like 12 years ago when i was a youngin, scamming people by selling rune scimmys in note form and then quickly switching to an iron scimmy in note form and hoping they wouldnt realise, it worked like half the time hahaha

I got people to drop items in my house the day construction was released, by bringing them through these elaborate steps and then ending it with, "Put the item you want to dupe on the table in the kitchen", as soon as they did I kicked them out and locked my door >:D

There's a scam or bot I'm not sure which but he pretends to be an UIM dropping loot in the wilderness right on the edge of multi above the ability shortcut to the grand exchange. He will only drop the armor if a high leveled player with expensive gear shows up. My friend logged in underneath him and picked up the things he was dropping but it was definitely a bait. My friend saw the main in ancestral and an arcane waiting.
the second scam you showed with the trade screen was also done years and years ago back in 2007-2008 at duel arena the scammer would ask people with lots of gp on their character if he could try to see his max hit the scammer would then say to take off all armour and untradables so that he can trade the victim food then the scammer would put full inventory of food in trade screen and then tell the victim to show inventory so that he can take out the right amount of food after the victim does this they would seem to forget they put all their items into trade screeen and voila
Ive seen scammers do this "telleother tab" scam. The scammer asks his victim to use a "telleother tablet" to deep wildy (usually an Annakarl tab) on them. Then trades the victim a "telleother tab". But heres the trick. Telleother tabs DO NOT EXIST, that they really trade you is normal teleport tab hoping you wont notice. Then the victim uses it, and BAM there in deep wildy surrounded by KPers.

Its plenty of level 3s in world 308 who is drop trading their cash stack in wildy all the time. Got two of them for 14m and 9m ea. When they see players near the ditch they start fighting eachother or hop world. Their location is right over ge castle level 2 wildy ditch.

Honestly 90% of the people I know in rs bot, and buy gp. They say the punishment for botting let’s say agility to 70 is only a ban that lasts a few days. As well as combat botting at crabs or dragons to make money is a minimal punishment to enjoy the account that botted to stats you want. Most people I know that but rs gp do it to fill their gambling needs at the duel arena. With Bonds being sellable or usable on other players means RS basically encourages buying gold, as long as it’s from them. The game has fallen far from what it was :(
They also say there is no punishment for buying rs gold because no one I know has ever been caught
I felt ones in 2007 for the 'show your inventory for food' scam lol. They asked you to show inventory so they knew how many sharks to give... Man I lost my saradomin for some swordfish :(

i got scammed once along time ago from then I studied counter scamming and i ended up counter scamming for 10000x what I lost. They messaged me asking if i wanted to scam with them saying I was good at it. I said I wasn’t scamming you I was testing you and you failed. Later that month I caught him red handed recorded everything and he ended up getting arrested for it.
Those bots at the ge doing the tab scam also have pmod detection and will stop autotyping the second a pmod comes into render distance... Allowing them to stay longer without getting muted since the pmods have no evidence.

There is also a scam where they try to sell you an item that is rarely traded, so the game says it is worth a lot more than you can actually manage to sell it for on the GE, so you pay more than what it is worth. Fell for this one once
Although trying to buy an Infernal cape IS against the rules, there's no malicious intent between all parties, the buyer gets their cape they want, the seller gets the money they want, everyone wins, but stealing their shit is NOT a win/win situation. Yes it's against the rules, but there's no malicious intent inherently in wanting to buy an infernal cape, so I don't see this anywhere close to justifiable.
I was baffled when i realized that Runescape only continues to exist because its a platform for gambling. Thats why GP is worth so much. People buy gold to stake, people sell gold when they win.

I know the main of the guy who does this bournos scam. This because his main was used in a duel arena scam along with another account that afterwards started doing that whole bournos thing. First account I saw doing that also. The main is called Infernal Bee
Here is a tip from a Former Botter That used Dream Bot and Powerbot anyone doing anything and instant removing Random Event NPC's before they appear are bots. The Scripts can read that there is an NPC spawning and instant decline them. What you see is the puff of smoke from the NPC leaving yet they never showed up. These People are botting.

Not long ago one guy tried to scam me on rs3, asked me to buy him 1k invention potions, because he was on limit, told me that he will pay me 50m + price of potions. As soon as I tried to buy 1,they were not buying, he said I should try for 150k each, tried to buy 1,and ofcourse they were buying, he gave me 150k gp for trying to buy that potion for him.
4k gp potion for 150k ea, 1k needed and he could easily making 150mil.
