Hi PB, a simple thing to try would be to disconnect the negative on your battery, wait 30mins - this will allow any capacitors to fully discharge for the ECU (as it sound like the interior weird errors you’re getting are all ECU /interior CAN related). Plug her back in and try. Worst case you’ll have to retune your radio. Probably caused by the ECU having a strop when it charged, possible voltage spike, but as it started after your detailing spray quite possible something shorted around the dashboard and spiked the ECU.

Have you tried hooking up an OBDII scanner to see what codes/errors are being generated? Take a note of them - clear them - drive for a while and scan again to see what codes come back up.

Great job on the pin hole repair - Shows the importance of protecting copper pipe running through or even touching concrete/brickwork.

Just to say my lad had a similar problem on a polo gti and when they took the dash out it was the washer bottle pipe split , this is all wrapped together with the wiring loom so it had corroded the loom which caused a similar problem to what you have vw did the work under warranty even though it was just out hope that helps good luck and great content 👍🏻

Check battery voltage first thing in the morning, You want over 12.6 volts. Batteries on modern vehicles have to be spot on, otherwise you get allsorts of issues. Get a decent scan tool and clear any codes

With regards to the van go to a garage where the bloke has a computer and ask if he can plug it in. It’ll come up with the faults and that then try to recent the ECU. That should reset all electronics with the van thus clearing the beeping and the Christmas tree on your dash. Quality video mate 👍🏻

As always a great video to watch and learn from. Most garages have the OBD scanner and may help you out but it may be a coincidence with the age of the battery. One comment mentioned about dehumidifier that could help as this time of year is awful with clearing moisture from vehicles

    1 you cleaned your van
2 radio came on causing flat battery
3 after charging battery lots of strange faults
So either you have dislodged something or maybe static from cleaning and polishing has damaged electronics. I suggest unplugging and reconnecting any connections in the cabin.
    Maybe disconnect the radio.
Alternatively put tape over the buzzer.

  • @paulthompson5416
    @paulthompson5416 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Pete there’s a switch down in behind the handbrake disconnect it and blow it out with an air line, there’s potentially dash spray shortening out the terminals, or the actual switch could be shorting out. Try driving with the switch disconnected it should solve your issue.
As for the levels I don’t know but with vehicle electrics today you’ll probably find they’re connected in some shape or form.
Worth a rattle rather than blowing £1700 on it for them to tell you it needs another £3k

Hi Pete excellent repair on the leaking pipe as regards to the van I would try and get a dehumidifier in the cab of the van this weekend as I think you have a problem with water ingress ,detailing spray aside ,which I don’t think it is the recent heavy Downpours caused no end of problems with cars it certainly sounds like you have an earthing problem and that £1700 control unit will not fix it. There are several earthing points under and around the dashboard only takes one bad joint and things will randomly trigger themselves on an off

Little tip on the stepper motor for the worcester, I have found the plug for the motor pushed in the wrong position causing the boiler to fire for heating when hot water is being used. Someone hand fisted had made a repair to the hot water flow turbine and then plugged the motor in wrong, the same person then quoted for a repipe because of reverse circulation lol.

Interior module! It’s like a central unit that all your controls go to then it gets distributed wherever needed.
Transit custom did similar thing no lights, van (engine) wouldn’t turn off when the key was taken out the ignition it had had a full melt darn, ps transit customs are proper headaches, turns out some damp had got into and fried it.
    Yours sounds similar thing.

Had the same issue on our company issued Transporter, in the end the mechanic deleted the fault using VCDS and it never returned. Must of gotten itself in a fizz and needed to be reset. Avoid main dealers as they charge a packed for diagnosis or a simple fault delete. Try and find a local VAG garage as the rates are more reasonable.

Hi Pete regarding your van troubles, I used to be a mechanic so know a little about cars. There’s a company called BBA Reman, they specialise in automotive electronic repairs. i am having problems with my van. engine ,anagment light service now, then limp mode. had it serviced, had some sensor changed, glow plugs changed as it was firing on one glow plug. egr valve last week went. spent about 1200 and its going back in on wends and thurs. 4 weeks of 1 to 2 days of not working. vans only 0 yr old.
vans and sensors just blow my mind. all it takes is one sensor to start to fail and it will bring engine managment lights or warning notices.

Pete if you're over Coventry way I've got vcds and will gladly plug in for you.
From the fault you have said its the CCM or BCM.
Its going to be a network issue as you have so many circuits affected but first is to start identifying the issue.
...you can open up the CCM and BCM and clean them out with IPA.

Another great problem solving video Pete. As for your van beeping, I can't offer any solutions but, will say thank goodness I don't have a modern "computer car" ....there are so many imponderables with regard to these - from what I hear, read and see - that it's a simple way of making money at the expense of drivers/owners. Mos things needs a digital check instead of a mechanical check nowadays. Not all change is progress !

    @Tigger81762 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The wire connections may be corroded on the inside and sending off bad signals so underneath the dash you should have multiple plug-ins and wire harness connections that plug into each other pull one of them apart one at a time check and make sure that there’s no green corrosive if there is clean it out that’s part of the issue I only know this because I had the same issue with my car telling me that my ABS wasn’t working and other things and what it was is that some cleaning staff got into the wire harness connecting to the one that goes to the body module and it was just corrosion it wasn’t getting a good signal so try that

Do a Google for the location of the Bcm /Uch module on your van. I had one where on a Vivaro a can of coke had been spilled by the instrument cluster and had dripped down onto the Bcm causing the indicators to flash and the lights coming on . Might be in a similar position. Might be just a case of removing and getting out the hair dryer like on boiler Pcb's .

old expired batteries can cause this sort of problems, it happened to my Mazda, power surge would rest anything with a computer in it, climate control unit would rest and sometimes would lockup for days, car battery started going flat. Iv got a similar problem with my vw crafter- oil pressure light other warning lights coming on speedometer reads engine speed and rev counter reads vehicle speed ! Iv had/done exhaustive diagnostics all sensors wiring etc checked everything is order including all the canbus wiring! Came to conclusion it is the instrument cluster thats been damaged after the van was jump started, spoke to a company who repair instrument clusters and they agreed cluster has been corrupted and would need replaced and coded to the van,
Sounds like yours may have shorted something with the cleaning spray which has in turn damaged the cluster or a module you need to find somebody
    That understands canbus network and
Maybe speak to someone that repairs instrument clusters.
I hate to say dont think VWs quote
Of £1700 prob isnt far off🤦🏻 thats what the cluster repair company told me to expect !

M8. Have you swapped the battery given it's gone totally flat plus the dealer mentions it?
Reason I ask... we had one of our newer vans go Pete Tong earlier in the year. Did all sorts of weird s#it before refusing to work at all. AA chap rocks up, tests the battery... that comes back OK, hooked up his OBD port and gets 39 fault codes. All warning ones from engine management, Air bags, seat adjustment etc...
Does his head in, so gives up and dumps it at the dealership as still under warranty. They scratch their plumbs for a day then as a last resort stick a new fully charged battery on it and hey presto... every code 'does one'! So whilst the old battery tested OK there was something the testers just could not report on.
BTW, they initially wanted around two hundred nicker plus for the battery alone (not a warranty item) but as it had them stumped and was a new on them they got the manufacturer to sort it foc.
So you never know... could just be a simple battery issue?
Great video BTW. Keep them coming 👍
