I remember the rush of feelings coming to me when I heard this for the first time, first new proper Ghost song since Prequelle and I was so excited, lets just say it was my number 2 most played song in 2021 even though it only came out in late 21 :D
I saw Ghost and had to click play! It's cool you started with this one, as this was the one that compelled me to go through their back catalogue. I was only ever vaguely aware of Ghost before - Spotify Discover Weekly had suggested Square Hammer to me a while back, which is a killer song, but I never looked further. A little while later it gave me Cirice which I enjoyed, but again didn't dig any further. The two tracks just sat there on my "Liked Songs" list occasionally making an appearance on a shuffled play. Fast forward to Oct 2021 and my horror film obsessed wife really wanted to go see Halloween Kills at the cinema. Like you, I wasn't overly keen on the franchise, but thought it would be nice for her. Got to the end credits and Hunters Moon starts playing. I'm *really* enjoying it and then it twigs - is that...Ghost? Sat through the credits to see the soundtrack bit and had it confirmed. Couldn't get the song out of my head for a few days, so next opportunity I got looked into their back catalogue of music videos on TH-cam and songs on Spotify. I was hooked! Not just with the songs, which are verified ear-worms, but the lore and the history of the Papas - those "chapters" on their official channel are fabulous. The humour in the ones featuirng Cardinal Copia is just perfect. Because this was what spurred me on, this is by far my most favourite of their songs. It also seems kinda extra special as it's the first time we see Cardinal Copia in the Papa facepaint. First time viewing this I had no idea of the significance of that - but after digging into the lore it now gives me goosebumps whenever I see it! Thank you for this reaction - I'm looking forward to working my way through all the rest! :D
I had a similar experience of getting into them! I got songs recommended to me via Spotify Discover Weekly but while I really enjoyed them I didn’t look deeper into the artist. Also some of the songs were listed under Ghost, and some under Ghost BC, so I didn’t realise they were the same band. Then eventually TH-cam recommended me a Ghost Explained video, which went into all the lore of the band. That prompted me to actively go through their song catalog, and from that point I was hooked.
@@lyxandrast0ttr0n1x8 That sounds like a useful video to watch! Did you catch the recent one they put on their channel - Metal Myths Pt2? That also covers the history of the lore in a really creative way! :)
