At the great request of the makers, I designed the Razor Crest, which appears in the Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian, as a print-in-place for 3D printing.
I tried to reproduce almost all the moving parts.
The air brake of the engine, the hangar at the back, and the door on the side embody the movement.
However, some were expressed in a detachable way. Telescopic gate parts or landing gear on the side are implemented as removable.
The process of printing and creating is very simple, but there are a few caveats.
    1. It is recommended that rear doors and windows be printed using brim.
    2. Window parts can be confusing, so try to match them before attaching them.
    3. It is convenient to put the back door first.
We are designing a display stand that can store these extra parts separately. Please look forward to this display stand!
There are many production requests from you, but due to circumstances, we cannot produce all of them. However, Fab365 always listens to your opinions and requests, and if circumstances allow, we are trying to respond to your requests.
We hope you enjoy printing this item designed at your request!
    1 : 100 scale
    Largest part in printing, size = X 96mm, Y 86mm, Z 85mm, After full assembly size= X 208mm, Y 280mm, Z 103mm
    Total Build Time : 61h 37m / Plastic Weight : 308g

This shows why a 3D printer is a fantastic tool for modelbuilding, as a hobby. I think this is a really good design because of how the parts were made to fit together so easily. The surface detail, connection/attachment strategy is really user-friendly and the scale is perfect, in my opinion. I think this is one of the best 3D models I've seen on TH-cam in terms of a science fiction theme. I didn't like the Razorcrest at first when I saw it in the TV series, but it eventually grew on me and I admired the design. I don't know if Doug Chiang designed the ship itself but I wouldn't be surprised if he did. I bought one of his design books that showcased his conceptual work around robots in the Star Wars universe. This was before I learned who he was within the LucasArts production world. I see his name in the post-credits of nearly every Mandalorian episode. Anyway, thanks for this video--great execution of a new, iconic Star Wars spacecraft.

This is absolutely amazing! If I could make one humble suggestion: For the bi-folding pieces (weapon pods and landing gear), include a pin and hole system to ensure that the parts are aligning correctly. I can see someone trying to use clamps to hold those parts together for gluing and having them slide out of alignment at the very edges.
Otherwise, this makes me want to get a 3D printer and get into the hobby!

That the parts turn out that crisp and clean. With NO supports. I had an Ender 3, tossed it in the trash as nothing worked after awhile. Originally it was pretty cool. Not sure if a bearing went or the build plate was warped, or it was just me not understanding settings. So when I see great models turn out so crisp and clean, I am still boggled and amazed by it.

Very impressed. If you are ever looking for Ideas what to do next - a nice nostromo and the suit from "underwater" would be something.
I know its a scale thing, but I am wondering, why these models are so cheap. If you buy a decent injection model of something not too mainstream, you easily end up paying 80+ dollar. Considering all the work that goes in there, even that is very good value. Yes, you need to print it by yourself but hey, people who do this have the printer already, so that does not count.

Your models get better and better, How long did it take you to design this?

  • @Etherdave
    @Etherdave ปีที่แล้ว

Well, as someone relatively new to 3D printing I only have a few questions: What are those interesting sheets used as printing platforms, and do they work better than the masking tape I have been using up to now? What are the settings typically used for this type of printing, and what is the temperature setting for the medium (is it PLA?) used, relative to its manufacturer's specs? How many attempts did it take to successfully complete each component (I suppose I could ask 'How heavily edited is this video?')? What was the average build time of each component? How much cleanup is required of each component before it all snaps magically together? And lastly, how is surface detail rendered on this model, and how did it actually turn out? You see, if you are going to present this project as a 'first time right' kind of deal, you might let people know how you did it, in case anyone wants to give a similar project a crack. But thanks for posting.
