Amber, Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words. Subscribe if you'd like as I think I'm going to make more dove videos. Hope you have a Happy New Year!
Doves and pigeons are insanely smart, they might not be able to mimic words like parrots, but they’re one of very few birds that can recognize their reflection! She’s beautiful and I’m happy to see that she’s doing so well!
You have a good hearth and received a lot of love back. Pigeons don't deserve prosecution they get everywhere. They are smart and are good pets. I rescued few weeks old male pigeon in the city and now he lives with his mate on my balcony. He is totally free but comes back to me. What a reward. I noticed a round stick in your cage for perching. They can't perch well on sticks and prefer flat surfaces. I wish there were more good people like you on this earth.
I found an injured dove today. It has a messed up wing and it is limping. It was freezing outside so like you, I had the same choice in my head... end it's life quickly or help it. I choose to help. I was able to capture it, and now it's in a cage with food (raw sunflower seeds from Walmart) and water. I already ordered grit and dove/pigeon mix for the bird. Scheduling a vet appointment tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your story!
Awesome video, story and dove! I had a mourning dove for 21 years. He thought I was his mate. They are very devoted, loving, smart creatures. Mine liked to eat little crumbs of cheddar cheese for a treat. As you are learning, they can understand some words. I used to put powdered vitamins in the drinking water so he got plenty of nutrients. Good luck with your beautiful bird and thank you for saving her and making her part of your family.
I feel like thats how mine thinks as well. I hope to have her for a long time. You said it best with devoted, loving and smart creatures! She cheers me up when I get down for sure. I thank you for being here and the kind comment. Something different I thought I would share on the channel.
I like your comment about cheese. I have a Morning Dove and the cheese is her crack. My dog needs meds and so I put in cheese every morning and Peanut, my dove, is right there to get her share of cheese. It's so cute to watch her go nuts for her treat.
Thank you for sharing your experience....you are a really cool guy......I remember seeing that pigeons can recognise faces....your dove is obviously paying you back for saving her life.....she is beautiful.....thanks I will look forward to seeing more please.
This was actually a really cool video, no annoying sub/like animations or obnoxious attention seeking shenanigans. Just a dude talking about a bird he loves, much respect.
What a beautiful story about your female dove, she is so beautiful. Thank you for rescuing her! I have white pigeons myself and I just purchased a pair of German Owl Pigeons, they are soooo cute. They are great companions and will get very attached to their human keepers. I know cause I have a male king white pigeon (Hope) who would coo and do the mating dance whenever I would come around him. I finally got him a female white racing pigeon and I now have 2 more pigeons. I take away the hen's eggs because if I let them, I would have about 10 birds by now😳😳😳 So I have the 4 whites pigeons and the pair of owl pigeons that I really love. Thank you for sharing!🤗🤗-Yvonne
Yvonne that is awesome. Thank you for spending som e time here. I need to make a dove update video soon. She is probably the coolest pet that I've ever owned :-) Hope you are doing well!
Doves and pigeons are very misunderstood! They're actually pretty clean and very smart. I have a semi-tame wild pigeon "Pig" -coz he's a greedy git, who went from eating the seed I put outside our window, to popping in and exploring our flat. One day we had nothing out for him to eat so to our huge surprise he just flew in the window, jumped up on the sofa and onto my partners lap and now he'll ask for food, pop up on our arms and all sorts. He's only ever decided to stay the whole night once during awful weather, he's in no way ever been trapped inside. This is a lovely video. What a good deed! You can see she appreciates it. Well and truly imprinted.
@@NickPixelTV A lot of the best animal-human bonds seem to happen by chance like yours. When I started putting bird seed out it was for a family of jackdaws as I wanted to watch the baby growing up and see how they interacted- they buggered off and now I have a fat demanding pigeon literally poking me for attention!
Thank you for sharing your story Nick... I know this video was posted a year ago but I am getting ready to get a Classic Old Frill pigeon who is absolutely beautiful and I am so excited. These birds are very under-rated and misunderstood. People see them just as pestie wild birds that carry disease and are very stupid. But that is far from the truth, in which I am sure you would agree since having your Doveman... Thank you for saving this doves life and keep on sharing more videos. BTW, I think these videos are VERY MANLY!! Stay safe ✌
Thank you for watching and for your kind comment. I need to make an update video so many people asking. She “doveman” is a true joy in my life. I am going try to film another video soon. Many blessings to you and your new pigeon
Oh my goodness gracious, this is such a Great Video!! Your bond with Birdman is so precious. My husband and our dove are really close and cute together.. like 2 peas in a pod! Thank you for sharing this with us, it really helped me out a ton 🫶🕊️🙌
What a great story. I landed on this video from a youtube search. I have a similar situation, although our dove was not injured. I have a bird feeder in my front yard and tons of birds visit and eat there. I went outside one day and there was a white dove eating on the ground she seem weak and very hungry. She allow me to pick her up and i have had her ever since. She is a great pet bird. Like you i have owned many parakeets and cockatiels but i like her best. She is calm, friendly and just chills on her perch. I never knew that doves made such good pets. God Bless you sir and your beautiful dove!
Great story- thank you for sharing! I just caught a white pigeon yesterday (and stumbled upon your video looking for care instructions, etc.). She showed up in our yard over the weekend and returned the following day, literally hung out in the yard with us all day until I was able to catch her. I could tell she was domesticated. Fortunately I was able to catch her before a hawk did.
Wonderful story. Our 15-year old dove was badly injured by another bird but is now mostly healed a month later. I give a mix of seeds, and he does sort through them looking for favorites. I also give him a bit of scrambled egg each day. Sometimes a nibble of cornbread, a big favorite. Nice cage. Your bird is so tame. Thanks for sharing.
That’s super cute! My pigeon makes the same sorts of noises whenever her bowls are empty or she wants attention. Pigeons and doves are such underrated pets, I don’t know why more people don’t keep them.
Great story.....I watched it twice now...I have loved doves and pigeons,,,,,since I was a boy....and you saving dove man was a true act of kindness I’m sure the gods will think that,,,,lucky bird lucky man!!!!!
You are the best! I saved several pigeons too. 2 of them became my pet. One of them I still have in my apartment. They become so humanized, it is incredible.
I’ve just rescued an injured dove myself. Had it about a week now. Had to tape its wing up as it was injured and was hanging really low. Its wing is now in excellent shape and he’s mending really well. Found your video really cool. I plan on releasing him back into the wild, but the choice is his, if he wants to stay I’ll happily look after him long term. Cheers man.
Darn it Nick. Now you ruined Dove hunting for me. Now I will feel guilty for shooting them. Thanks for making me a better person. Lovey Dovey You the man buddy!!!
This is a domestic pigeon, not a dove. Doves sit more horizontal. This bird sits head and chest upright and is larger than a white dove. Find another and breed white pigeons for release at weddings. Pays well and they arrive home before you do.
This is how most of my pets came into my life. They need help. I do not like to buy pets when so many can just be saved. Win Win Thanks for sharing. Good stuff.
Ive have had pigeons all my life ,and after watching this video, Im inspired to achieve the same personal attachment you have so beautifully developed with this lovely pigeon
I love your beautiful pet dove💕It is amazing how the flight of a dove sounds totally recognizable. Your poor baby! So awesome you helped her out! She obviously loves you! So cool how birds survive and their special skills. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome video! There is so much to learn about birds, good job! Do more dove videos! Please!!💕
Actually, the way their wings whistle may be a kind of warning to each other, so I understand. (I think I learned this from a documentary, but it could also be the slapping sound of their wings touching when they get startled that that was about.) They can certainly fly without their wings whistling. I have no idea how they turn it off, that sound. I am friends with a couple of pigeons, not that different from being friends with human neighbours and I happen to have one that I rehabbed and is non-releasable. (Been with me for nearly 10 months now. Have had birds before, for years.) The more secure/familiar they feel, the less sound their wings make, is my impression.
Shes awesome, thanks for sharing the story, I had a rescued female crow for about 3 months but she left us on tuesday and went back to the wild. Absolutely heart broken that shes gone but she should be able to find her way home if she wants to :( 🤞 I'm really tempted to get a couple pigeons I never realised how loving they are and I've discovered birds can be amazing company
I raised a city pigeon from hatchling, she was cold and in the rain on the floor, I took her under my wing. She is now 1 year old and coos when she sees me. She cry’s when I go. PIGEON GANG ❤️
I had a smile from ear to ear because I can relate to your story of this beautiful white dove. I have two..Coconut (coco) and Casper. The joy these two have brought me has no end. So I know all to well the joy you are going through with Doveman..ops Dovelady. LOL
Thank you for sharing this. I raised homing pigeons in the past. (In a coop outside the house.) They are very messy birds. I'm at a new home now and I really miss my homers but not the mess. Someone told me to research doves. They said doves are clean and I can raise them in the house like pets. I read a lot. Doves sound like a perfect match for me. I was still just a little unsure. Then I seen your video. Wow! Doveman actually likes you. She interacts with you and her coo is very sweet. I am buying a dove!
I have a white rescue pigeon named Lovey that looks just like yours! White birds don’t have a very good survival rate in the wild; thank you for taking Dovey in!
Great video, when she pecks at your ear its a sign of affection, when you pet the back of her neck she will bend down because she wants you to mount her because she considers you her mate. its what the female and males do, I bred pigeons when I was young, I miss my pigeons, yours is a pigeon not a dove.
Great watching this. She is gorgeous and love how you came together. ❤ I just got 4 Doves. But they are outside. However seems only one come back yesterday and 3 have not come back. So thought I'd come on youtube to see why? Came across your video. Loved watching. Thanks.
I had them in their pen for 5 weeks locked in. Just set them free 7 days ago. I could only see 1 yesterday morning and she came back last night. So hoping the other 3 come back. I'm wandering if the 3 went back to their last place 5kms away. I'm envious of your relationship..very special. She is very loving and love how she's cleaning your ear. I'd like to learn more from your knowledge and see you do more videos♡
That's an awesome story and what a bond you two have! I rescued a fledgling a couple of weeks ago and have been hand feeding it. He has quickly become part of the family and is so affectionate and sociable that I don't know if I want to release him or keep him (or her) now.
I absolutely love this! She's completely bonded to you. The way she was preening you as you spoke was precious. I saw this on another guy's channel (Peter Caine) has a pet pigeon and raven and he says his pigeon thinks he's her husband. I recently lost my African Grey and have been devastated. 1 day I might get a pigeon, they're so sweet.
Doves love ears..eggs= happy dove!.. you have heard cooing, have you heard the excited purring? Pigeons & doves are are so vocally expressive..& affectionate🕊 My Peanut was a rescue, taught me a lot more about Columbiformes.. she would proudly fly up &down stairs/ her pen/kitchen while I'd do dishes, would stand on one leg then switch, all fluffed up in a certain way.. you learn to recognize body and movement expressions, vocal soft or sharpness, percussive calls to emphasize context.. (like saying, "YADA YADA YADA, NOW!!!") LOL🤣 WONDERFUL, gentle, quiet, low maintenance cost birds.. smugglers too as you read, watch a movie, nap..lol Totally respect these birds, have a Rocky now after Peanut passed away.. found out Rocky was a happy girl when the eggs arrived!😉
I really enjoyed the story about how you saved her. I can tell she loves you! One question... how do you deal with the poop issue when she is flying around the house?
I love this video. I had rescued a mourning dove when she was a baby. I raised her and decided to keep her. She was my first ever bird and like you I researched like crazy. Her name was Kevin (like in the movie Up, where Russell named the colorful bird because he thought it was a boy) because we thought she was a boy until, like you, she laid an egg! I kept the name as she would come to that name and react as well. Unfortunately she passed away last April at the age of 8 yrs. she was my buddy like yours is to you. They are so gentle and quite! She as well cooed and had a personality. Seeing your beauty makes me miss her so much. I would love to get another Dove as they are just a great pet but I have too many cats at the moment. She free flew in the house and sat with me while we watched tv together. I sure do miss having her around. I really miss kissing her chest under her fluff. Enjoy her as a I see you do. They are great birds to have. Thanks for sharing and making my day 😊.
Aww what a heartfelt story. I couldn’t imagine a day without her now. I hope at some point you will be able to get another. Thank you for sharing your story with me. Ill have another video on her soon ;)
@@NickPixelTV yes you will definitely feel her love every day. She is so beautiful. Make sure to research and research about what things you can’t do around her such as no Teflon fumes (pans, hairdryers etc.) and perfumes, colognes air fresheners, candles. They have very sensitive lungs. A room humidifier/filter to collect all her dust. I think my Kevin had lung issues. I did all that but maybe it was just not enough. She was on antibiotics but it just didn’t work. Give your buddy a hug from me. I will imagine the fluffiness feeling of that hug. And yes please post tons of videos of her 😊
Greetings! We rescued a white dove that we believe was either attacked by dogs or a hawk. Had bite marks and feathers gone and no tail feathers at all. Good to see your video. One question, do you bathe the bird? I want to at least mist the closed wounds/scabs with warm water, but unsure. She/he is docile and so quiet compared to our Amazon parrot & African Gray Parrot! Please pass on any suggestions you may have. Thx much.

Looks like mine. I’ve been told by a pigeon breeder these are Logan pigeons. They’re quite resilient. Looks like a female too but you can only figure that once they start laying eggs.
Is she a white rock dove? A white feral pigeon essentially??? What a cute story. Dovey seems very loving. You two have a beautiful friendship. 🙂 and you saved her life!
Thank you for video. i save a very small pigeon almost 1 year ago and she doesn't go anymore from here . i didn't understood why she dose so noise when i am talking (i am working from home) but you make me understand she want attention :) First i named Dovy then i realized is a she and i call her Diva :). The amazing part is then she adapted very well with 9 cats and 1 dog :).

A man loving his pet dove and not caring who knows it... that is actually quite manly.
She's so much like our pigeon. She coos when there's no human in sight 😆. She doesn't want to be alone.

Simplemente es una hermosa compañía, es más que una mascota, te entiende y sabe demostrar su amor con su cercanía.

Thank you!!
Great watching this. She is gorgeous and love how you came together. ❤ I just got 4 Doves. But they are outside. However seems only one come back yesterday and 3 have not come back. So thought I'd come on youtube to see why? Came across your video. Loved watching. Thanks.
Thank you so much for stopping in. Dove’s know home once they lock it in. They may be back. Many blessings to you
I had them in their pen for 5 weeks locked in.
So adorable 👍
Thank you!
That's an awesome story and what a bond you two have! I rescued a fledgling a couple of weeks ago and have been hand feeding it. He has quickly become part of the family and is so affectionate and sociable that I don't know if I want to release him or keep him (or her) now.
If it was a fledgling, the bird may think it is a human now? Imprinting. If so, then you can't release it.
Thank you for making this video friend your bird is beautiful 🥰👌
I love doves ....so cute and lovable birds
Thank you!
Cute dove
Thank you
i do have a dove a male.... like your video...nice that you save her life....

Mary, Thanks for stopping by. Working on another dovey update. She wants to make another video
I rescued a dove this week too!! She’s such a good lil friend
I love the sound when they fly.
Mee too!!
I used to have pet doves there the best!!!
I agree 🕊
Doves love ears..eggs= happy dove!.. you have heard cooing, have you heard the excited purring?
Pigeons & doves are are so vocally expressive..& affectionate🕊
My Peanut was a rescue, taught me a lot more about Columbiformes.. she would proudly fly up &down stairs/ her pen/kitchen while I'd do dishes, would stand on one leg then switch, all fluffed up in a certain way.. you learn to recognize body and movement expressions, vocal soft or sharpness, percussive calls to emphasize context.. (like saying, "YADA YADA YADA, NOW!!!") LOL🤣
WONDERFUL, gentle, quiet, low maintenance cost birds.. smugglers too as you read, watch a movie, nap..lol
Totally respect these birds, have a Rocky now after Peanut passed away.. found out Rocky was a happy girl when the eggs arrived!😉
I used to have doves. Incredible pets
this is the best video on youtube, so wholesome
Thank you! I appreciate that Steve
I never knew people had doves as pets, I have a Black Headed Conure and a sun conure
I have 30 uncaged pigeons on my terrace! They're the most loyal birds on earth!
I just started caring for my new pet pigeon. He's still scared of me tho
@@flyingfeathers_ can I have one I’ll take care of it. I’ll love and feed and cuddle him.

Thank you 🤗
@@NickPixelTV and thank you too for showing us the cute white birb :D
that was heartwarming and nice too watch!
That was such a blessing for her great pet thanks for sharing ❤️
Hi buddy, thanks for rescuing this homing pigeon. Pigeons are smarter than doves but both are great, IMHO. Congrats. Has this pigeon ever laid eggs?
We have had 2 eggs so far one day apart. Thank you
@@NickPixelTV Cool, so she's a girl.
I got 5 pairs , same kind (racing pigeons) keep them in my shed. Love them, so much fun!!!!👍👍👍❤️
I really enjoyed the story about how you saved her. I can tell she loves you! One question... how do you deal with the poop issue when she is flying around the house?
Molly sorry im just seeing this. She isnt too bad we just clean it up right away but really after a while i think she knows but maybe we are lucky
What a good birb
Thank you she is a blessing
And yes please post tons of videos of her 😊
Lovely 🕊️
Many thanks
I love this!!!
Thank you! I should make another one :-)
i had this idea to search ''owning a pet dove'' this is so awesome, and you nick have a very good energy, you two got this!
🙂 and you saved her life!
yep looks like Columbia Livia to me!
Might be getting a dove very excited
You wont regret it ;)
Lovely story, well done
Thank you for video. i save a very small pigeon almost 1 year ago and she doesn't go anymore from here . i didn't understood why she dose so noise when i am talking (i am working from home) but you make me understand she want attention :) First i named Dovy then i realized is a she and i call her Diva :). The amazing part is then she adapted very well with 9 cats and 1 dog :).
Thank you so much for this comment :-) enjoy your pigeon they are a blessing
You have a friend for life .i love my little pigeon squeak.p.s you can see your smitten.
