    Sir im a pigeon racer here in the Philippines. Unfortunately due to busy and hectic schedule on my school i am forced to stop my hobby. And by this video you remind me how i built my loft by my self alone. But not that kind of big loft. I really miss mg birds. When i graduate in college and have a career ill promise my self to go back to my beloved hobby

    What I like most about your videos is you do everything without extra hands. That’s really cool and motivational. Sometimes an extra set of hands can really help, but after seeing most of your videos I really think you don’t need a set.

    Good morning Sean, with the help and info from you and the mainland I think I've learned some things. But I think I need to learn more on the health part. With vaccinations, vitamin supplements, minerals and feed. And the season on molting. Yes young bird season is tough to do. I think it's the band being delivered to late in Dec. that holds up early breeding. Thanks for the invite I'll try and contact Brian to see if we can come by together. Take care and thanks again.

    Good morning Sean, love the saying that goes like this. Build it and they will come. Based on old timers saying train birds hard and they will find there way home. Since long distance training here is limited. I agree to what you were saying. On race day hopefully birds will fly in a flock as they fly there GPS is on remembering there path. As they reach Makapuu point they'll know how to come home. And this would be there long distance toss. Hopefully this will build in there memory.

    What a brilliant video and superb loft, you really are giving pigeon racing your best shot.
    If I had to give you some advice it would be to invest in some top pigeons. Go to 3 local fanciers who are at the top of the results and get youngsters off their very best birds, late breds are a good bet as they are more likely to give you these or even get eggs off them.
    Cross these birds don't keep them pure....I did and until I crossed them we had no success. This along with your brilliant loft and husbandry will surely bring you success. Look forward to your next post. All the best from a very chilly West Cumbria England

    Good morning Sean, in theory toss training from 3 release points on Oahu. Kahala 17 miles, HawIi Kai 21 miles, and Makapuu 23 miles. Which I call Bay zone, Central zone and Mountain zone. With the Skyleader GPS one can track the flying path. After 3 zone tosses one can see if birds will fly straight home or detour some where within the zones. As you do more of your toss training one would have a better idea where birds path are flying.
    Theory flying races from Big Island or Maui. With limited toss miles on Oahu. I agree what you were saying. Staying with a large flock ( 1000 + birds ) and flying together is good. This will educate birds and they will learn there way home. The more they fly the more they learn. I believe when they reach Makapuu they should know there way home.
    Are you going to use your GPS device on race day. On toss train are you using GPS device and timer.

    • @alohapigeons9440
      @alohapigeons9440  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably just use the GPS during training tosses but we will see.

    sean if your having trouble with electric wires you should be able to contact the electric company and ask them to come out and put colored marker balls on the wires so they are easier for the birds to see that's what we do in Ireland anyway and they have no problem doing it. love the videos by the way.

    • @alohapigeons9440
      @alohapigeons9440  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I will be sure to include more info about lighting in the future. But briefly, as soon as the birds go in the flying loft I make sure they have about 20 hours of light. They will drop their flights. Then about halfway through April I will cut about half an inch off the tips of the 9th and 10th flights. I then pull the 9th and 10th flights and stop using the lights on May 1st. With the normal daylight hour they then drop their body feathers. The birds start to loft fly again when the 9th and 10th flight grow back in the early part of June.

    Great upgrade on the loft ! Love the design 😁🙂 lol man the extra feet up in the air is great more air vent 🙂. Unm, breed early is always good because you have a better chance of having winners or breeding winners 😊! Try not to use too much medication but whatever works do it for your birds and do so as you observe your birds everyday. Settling your birds unm I would just wait until there a month and half old. More light is way better 🙂 birds need that vitamin ✓ ! 🙂 Would also say let them take a bath every weekend or on your schedule. Keep the long videos coming & like the video you took from the roof of your house because it helps your bird to not have bad habits like landing on your roof or your neighbor etc

    Hi Sean, was viewing some of the older videos you made. Must say Brain has a lot of experiences to share. On Molokai tosses no birds lost. Maui lost a few. Now, in prepping for a race off Maui or Big Island. Does your club participates in a combined toss training from these islands. If club does how often is this. If they do it often than bird losses would be very minimal.

    • @alohapigeons9440
      @alohapigeons9440  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian has lots of experience and is a great resource. No one I know does Maui training tosses before the first young bird race. I do know that a few flyers did a Maui training toss before the old bird season this year since all of the races are from the Big Island. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to lose young birds on the first Maui race.
