What to do in Winter Hokkaido Part 3 | Japanese Whiskey Distillery Tour with FREE Tasting!

Free guided tours at Nikka Whiskey Distillery that ALSO come with free whiskey tastings? We knew we had to sign up! Most people visit Otaru when they visit Hokkaido but overlook this gem which is just slightly further to the west of the city and is pretty convenient to get to - only 1.5 hours by the local train at ¥1920 or top up a little more at ¥2,130 and get there in an hour! Situated in a quaint town of Yoichi that is especially beautiful in winter, there are some delicious seafood restaurants and cafes too! If you're into Japanese whiskey and is looking for a nice chill daytrip, this is a no brainer! Cheers! 🥃

The JR Pass would work on the train ride?

So to get to Nikka Distillery. the route looks like this: Sapporo > Otaru > Yoichi. As far as we know, JR Pass only works as far as getting you from Sapporo to Otaru. You will still need a separate train ticket to get from Otaru to Yoichi, which is purchasable from Sapporo train station. Hope this helps!
