- For those of you looking to visit and for things to do in the mountains of West Jefferson, Lansing, and Ashe County, NC outside of Boone (30 mins from Appalachian State) - this video is for you.
In this video, my family and I explore this area's outdoor activities, restaurants, breweries, shops, parks, creeks, rivers, mountains, and more attractions on a Mahindra Roxor SXS from Unseen Pass, located on 2nd Street in West Jefferson.
You'll get to see New River Brewing, Hole Lotta Doughnuts, Mountain Outfitters, Pie on the Mountain, Grayson Highlands Park, Bluff Mountain View, the New River, Pond Mountain, Helton Creek, WhiteTop Mountain, and much more on the back side of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Use this video as a reference guide to plan your trip. West Jefferson is only a 2 hr drive from Charlotte and a 3 hr drive from Raleigh, NC. Come explore Western North Carolina (WNC) and this quick get away. Do something different outside of the norm, like tubing or kayaking on the river, and rent a Roxor from Unseen Pass.

I've camped out at Grayson Highlands Park and that's some beautiful country. I think it's also the last time I was somewhere with absolutely no cell phone signal which was great as well. Must have been 5 years ago.

One of my all time favorite towns in NC, Pond Mountain is assume, spend a lot of time on the New River every Year.

Brian, great trip and great views a great way to vacation getting away less people and in town and back out into nature. One needs a break from the long hours in the fields and a chance to spend with family, great memories forever.

Y'all are close to me now. I'm in giles county Virginia. My wife and I sold eggs on the honor system, we were losing money and my wife and I decided we needed to buy more chickens to make up for it. I'm glad y'all had a nice time here in the mountains. Thanks for sharing your vacation.

when we were living in Atlanta, we would head for the mountains every chance we got and just take a road or trail and see where it brought us. You would be surprised at what we found but, sometimes, it would have been nice to have it mapped out for us, like you did.
Ya-all, come back now. Another nice place out that is Brison City, take a train ride through the mountains. Lots of nice places to stay, but come back with just you and your wife, she'll love it.
You need to bring your family to Oregon those are little mountains here Brian!

Leadville CO 10,151.... beautiful place to live.
I think the highest peak is 6600 in the eastern half of the country but what’s your low points. In ohio we are typically always around 6-700 feet so a 1500 foot hill sticks out some
@@BriansFarmingVideos 3315 on the Arikaree River is the lowest elevation. I moved from Leadville (10,000 ft.) to Denver (5280 ft.) so now living a mile high. In leadville i could look out my window to see Mount Elbert Peak (14000) close enough i could almost reach out and touch it.
I'm from PA and hiked the 3 highest peaks in NY. The mountains out here make the east coast mountains look like childs play.
I lived in Boone and wilkesboro and had a lot of friends in Jefferson

We try to visit Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area annually but, like you said, it's gotten so congested and the traffic irritates us. You may have found the ideal vacation spot. Thanks for the video.
Cool vacation, Brian. That is something I would go for . My wife went with a neighbor gal to Gatlinburg. I sat out and you know why. I go for the places where there's not a sea of humanity, like this. And, nice of you guys to host a seed day ON my birthday. I ll probably not hike over , there's some a lot closer to me.But thanks anyway.

There is trees out west in the mountains. Aspen, pines buck brush, willow along the creeks. Lots of cool places to see and most of it over six thousand feet you know like Teton and Yellowstone and glacier national park then you go south and see. Zion and arches and the Grand Canyon go east to Durango androckymoutain state park. Just way too many things to see need years to see it all

Down our way I see, we’re up near Blacksburg Va. (Max Meadows actually but only locals know where it is, small very small)
Next time down this way here go over to WV, the steps (Near Bluefield WV) or head to Pilot Mtn NC which isn’t that far from where you’re at.
We farm in Pond Mountain. Y'all probably come through our area. You think the jeep is hairy, imagine hauling 16ft to 20ft farm trailers loaded with hay, or livestock, or feed on them roads. Gotta rely on your neighbors if you get stuck! If you get hurt they gotta fly you outta here in a helicopter rather than an ambulance. The law is 30mins to an hour away usually, so your neighbor is your 911.
Winter brings snow drifts of 6ft to 40ft. Yes, that's not a typo. In the winter of 1960 the drifts fully covered grown locust trees. Winter starts in November and ends in mid-may. In the winter the wind whips off the top of Pond and downslopes into the eastern "valleys" at 3500ft. 40 to 60mph gusts are very common. Can't overwinter much out here.

Brian I know a cattle farmer who lives very near where this is , he keeps around 500 head through the corse of one year , if I had known you were gonna be here I would have hooked you up with him.
NC :"Boone" area is great, where you were at. Next time, take a beach vacation and head to the Outer Banks to top 5 beaches in the US. Give you a different perspective to NC from Top to the Bottom.
There are plenty of camp grounds close to the beach for your new RV as well.

Ash county is beautiful! I've always wanted to live in the gorge . the idea of the jeep rental business is brilliant! Pigeon forge and Gatlinburg are overrated. The river rafting is a cheap sight to behold! Maybe next time!!
