From outsiders like Tyrone Green, Jean Luc DuPreez and Siya Masuku - Rassie Eramus has a dossier on every potential Springbok. From his track record no one can argue he does not know what he is doing - until the Boks start failing, Erasmus rules.
He doesn't need to explain himself to anyone at this stage. Win or lose. He doesn't owe anyone. If he dicided to not use Masuku,as you have noted, it's an informed and collective decision. Everyone is an expert according to Internet.
He already knows his SA people’s questions and is so emotionally and intellectually intelligent that he has no need to explain more than what is on his mind (and pours out of his mouth!). The greatest rugby… and man-mind I have ever seen. Honesty, integrity and blatant manliness. There is so much in this man’s mindset that makes him a superior man. Rassie… my age companion… when you are tired of making okes run good lines, tackle to the law, scrum to a refs preference, think like an accountable man and be a leader in your own oxygen-consumption space… we need you to run for SA president. We would all follow you.
Rassie's explanation of "form" vs playing a specific team vs doing the fundamentals right .... this is genius! He is spoilt for choice and has the room to be versatile with his selections. Looking forward to the next RWC.
Brilliant stuff. I was particularly impressed with his explanation of Masuku’s status, given how loud the voices have been for his inclusion. It’s clear that Rassie has him on his radar and does not see him as someone who won’t fit into the unit. It’s just a matter of time.
Unless he gets a run during the Autumn series. At FB we have Willie, Willemse and Fassi really raised his hand for being a solid FB. So Green would get a shot in Autumn, but he must be thinking that he has an uphill battle to secure a long term spot in the bok team.
I think he should grab the English Call, the talent at wing in SA as well as the fact local players have the benefit of Bok coaches regularly visiting the franchises ... brilliant player though
These Journalists really need to up their game with the questions being asked. Rassie is way ahead of them and already has the exact answer they want to hear (even thoagh behind closed doors his answer might be different). He basically confirmed there are players in the system who would get preferrential treatment when selecting the squad due to being on a list and being funded even if someone might be better in form currently who is not on the list/funded and no one askes a followup question regarding it as that seems a bit unfair. And with that also being the case cant see that his comment about the best squad being selected is true. Still a very strong squad though and we are spoiled for choice.
I think he was clear that those guys are there because they have done the job time and time again until they don’t do the job they will have the inside line which makes sense but he is building depth and there are players to cover those positions. He was frank about the fact that some positions might have a lot of depth but quickly 2-3 “first choicers” are out for various reasons so the 4-6 get a chance.
@@BogartAus That has absolutely nothing to do with my point the players who did the job that you are referring to. It is not making sense and he is really smart easily convincing most and the people/journalsts eat it up not thinking and asking more insightful questions. Saying nr 4-6 is also a overreaction on his part and yours as that also does not add up. But it is exactly on who is next in line that he mentioned some players get preferrential treatment and more should have been asked about that as that would not seem to be fair and then he cant say the best squad has been chosen because of this. He also talked about form and then used Bhuthelezi as an example but the way he explained form and then uses him as an example does not add up as he mostly performed in the cup games against teams that are the worse URC and European teams and not as good as players performing in the Champions cup as well as the URC. So going on how he explained if looking at who he faced it does not make sense him being ahead of other players who have constantly performed against better teams. Various of the fringe players can be looked at in the same way and debated that they are included because of being on the popi list even thoagh there might be a player who performed better but is not on the popi list. But Rassie has been smart and he is levels above certain people who he can run circles around as they do not think further and as long as he gets the results it will stay that way as people will be happy. But the press should be identifying and asking questions regarding these areas as it is their job to do it and not just be there asking generic questions time and time again as they do with Rassie and various other coaches as well. Rassie is the type who will answer you straight but also blow smoke up you're arse if you allow him to and that is part of why he is so successful and right now its allot more of the letter as Rassie knows he can get away with answering allot of questions because people don't ask the right questions and he can just give enough to keep them happy and prepare for it accordingly. I'd say he's 3 steps ahead but he isn't even playing the same game.
