For all the "old rock fans" out there who hate Miley Cyrus, YES, she was invited to perform. Miley and Taylor Hawkins were neighbors in LA, they were FRIENDS. Taylor sent her a voice text saying that he wanted Miley to sing "photograph" because he thought it would sound amazing with her voice. Taylor also passed away when Miley was touring the same festivals in South America as Foo Fighters. So yeah, she belonged at that tribute concert.
Any "old rock fan" that hates Miley Cyrus simply hasn't been paying attention the last several years. She's been doing her damnedest to bring rock to a generation of kids that wouldn't know good music if it slapped them in the face. That includes originals as well as covers. She's doing The Lord's work and doing it well. All while being on fire she's so frikkin' hot.

The shows and their lineups are a testament to him as both a person and an artist. He was a music fan at his core and was never not a fan.
She sounds great. Was never a big fan of hers but she has a fantastic voice. She's fun to look at. The thing I have started to really like her is how she embraces the old rockers. She has respect for rock and it shows in her rock songs and all the different times she's been together with the originals.

Def Leppard are legends. Still just as phenomenal as they were in the 80's. They still give a shit about playing Rock N Roll from their hearts and giving their fans an incredible show every time. Hats off to Miley Cyrus as well. She served the song perfectly.

One of the best sounding combinations of the night (IMHO). Rick Savage and Patrick Wilson (drums) provided an awesome bottom end groove. Joe and Miley did a great job and Phil Collen nailed it.

It's incredible to think, one of the greatest classic rock concert medleys in the last 10 years, and Taylor isn't jamming. Just very bittersweet for me. Outstanding concert/guests. Miley demonstrated early in the song that her vocal performance would blow away Joe Elliots and she essentially moved into a backing role. As a 57 year old, I was a big fan of Def Leppard when I was in high school, but his voice has seen better days. I'd dig hearing Miley fully cover the song one day.

I'm almost certainly one of "the old rock fans" you refer to. She did really, really great. I'm not going to spend money on her earlier releases. She, like I (and all of my friends and acquaintances) did not always make the wisest choices. She has improved her vocal technique and chosen a different genre. Miley singing classic rock is her sweet spot, she has the perfect voice for it.

It's incredible to think, one of the greatest classic rock concert medleys in the last 10 years, and Taylor isn't jamming. Just very bittersweet for me. Outstanding concert/guests. Danny Carey from TOOL playing YYZ with Rush was the bees knees lol..thanks Dave, so you know, we miss him too. good vibes out to you.. PS I hope this concert comes out on DVD.
This was great, I think Miley's contribution is both logical and insightful, i would actually like to hear her do a full on cover of the song. Taylor was a fan of ALL genres, and was a friend to and fan of miley, good stuff.
You can tell Joe Elliott was giving it his ALL with this performance. He’s been steering clear from using his old signature raspy falsetto/head voice for the past decade, but he really pushed it out here

Miley demonstrated early in the song that her vocal performance would blow away Joe Elliots and she essentially moved into a backing role. As a 57 year old, I was a big fan of Def Leppard when I was in high school, but his voice has seen better days. I'd dig hearing Miley fully cover the song one day.
I noticed that as well. I'm sure it aint easy when you have pipes like hers to just lay back and fill in when you know you could MURDER that song. In another life that girl could have been huge in just about ANY genre... including opera. I think she's the best overall musical artist in America right now. I'm almost certainly one of "the old rock fans" you refer to. She did really, really great. I'm not going to spend money on her earlier releases. She, like I (and all of my friends and acquaintances) did not always make the wisest choices. She has improved her vocal technique and chosen a different genre.
