- Our favorite goat, Luna, accidentally got pregnant last year. 5 months later, she delivered a ---- WHAT?
Our homestead has lots of baby goats right now, but this one definitely takes the cake!

Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Who else is here after watching today’s video when they announced their decision to let Stella go with her baby Astrid to a new home? She is going to be missed but i understand why they decided to let her go to a new home. Astrid and Stella are so closely bonded and going together will make the transition easier on both of them. I have never seen a goat mom that is as protective and dedicated to her baby as Stella.!I know they are going to really enjoy their new home and being able to stay together. The family who will be getting both of them are super lucky!’ They not only get the adorable and sweet baby Astrid but also the friendly and slightly silly Stella!!! That is quite the bonus!!

I would be curious to hear what the milk is like from the Nubian X Nigerian cross. You guys said that the Nigerian milk is better but the Nubian makes more milk. Maybe this baby will combine the best of both.

Really good! I did the same thing, crossed the two types of goat and the milk is good.
Heterosis or hybrid vigour is a real thing so you’d be correct
Nigerian milk averages 7 % butterfat while Nubian's averages 5%. Nigerians are about a third of Nubians but the milk output at peak lactation gets to about half of Nubian's. The other blogs are correct. When mated the kids have 'Hybrid vigor'. Smaller than Nubian but larger than Nigerian, hence "Mini Nubian" Most characteritics mostly Nigerian but the ears remain drooped. Recommend Nigerian Doe and Nubian Buck to lessen kidding complications of large kids.

I happened to actually catch the birth on live stream!!! I was so thrilled and I was thinking the same thing that she looks like a little lamb!! My three year old even was like awe a baby sheep.

I can understand the need in some situations to assist births, but I believe it's Most important for Mum and Baby to be given their own bonding time. And poor Luna was clearly stressed by so much handling of her baby so soon.

What a beautiful name! It reminds me, when I was about 8, a stray cat came to my backyard and meowed at me for food. It would come everyday and I would feed it. I named it Stella thinking it was a girl, but then the neighbors said it was a boy ( because it was there cat ) his real name was Shadow. Then I had to move away a year later, he was a big part of my life :’)
