I always thought she was a real trans woman. What an excelent actress! She deserved an Oscar nomination! Back then these types of roles were not really considered at all.

Excellent film.....leaves you devastated 15 minutes in, not at the 'end'. Then it gets amazing. Made for the big screen!!!
