Fun fact: All the bosses except the last one are transformed minions. For an instance the first one is a Goomba. How they were turned into Bowser clones is not explained. If you shoot them with fireballs the boss reverts to it's true form as it falls off screen. Except for the final one. For the final one if you defeat him with fireballs Bowser will just turn upside down and fall off screen showing that the one in 8-4 was the real Bowser and not a disguised minion like the others.
If you look in the game manual it says Bowser used his magic to turn them into King Koopa imposters.

I beat this original Mario in the early 90s. I dont think I beat Mario 2 or 3. Although I can't remember. I can remember it took forever to best this game. First video game I ever played. What a classic!

the ending makes WAY more sence then the anime because nintendo REJECTED mario when he is practicly their mascot and the mario series is their BEST SELLING game series and i`ve played many and i mean MANY MANY mario games and never seen a prince toadstool
