4:07 I was 8 years old and watched that Clint Longley game with my family. We left my Grandma's house at halftime and watched the second half at home. I am a lifelong Vikings fan, but that was one time that I stood up and screamed for a team other than Minnesota. That comeback in the 4th quarter was one of the reasons I am a football fan for life. Incredible. And the Moss game in 1998 was one of my favorite moments ever.
Great video. The two moments I'll add to this as far as memorable as someone watching since 1985 was Darrin Nelson's GW TD for the Vikings in 1987. Great great Turkey Day game...44-38. Saved the season for Minnesota, who got hot and went to the NFC Championship Game. And the 1994 Detroit game where the Lions put the first nail in the coffin of the Bills dominance over the AFC. And it wasn't Barry Sanders, but DAVE KRIEG, who cooked the 4x defending AFC Champs. My pops, while making a peach cobbler just looked at me and said, "we finally won't have to see them get their butts kicked in the Super Bowl!"
Watching Barry Sanders growing up was like watching someone who had the real life codes installed. He was the reason I begged my mom to play football. Barry was so amazing his 7 yard losses were incredible to watch. If you just took away his minus yard attempts he would've broke the all time and single season rushing records.
if the lions won 79 games straight they still wouldn't make it to the super bowl because trey flowers would get flagged for roughing the pass and illegal use of hands
From 1967-69, back when the American Football League was a separate league (before completing their merger with the NFL in 1970), the AFL and the NFL both had Thanksgiving double-headers, not at the same time, but as a combined quadruple-header. That's right, four games on TV, one after the other.
Yeah, but they aren't religiously played every year and know who is in them. Thanksgiving started out as one game, went to two, then three and you know the lions and cowboys are in it every year. One of the best Thanksgiving plays that never gets mentioned is in Cowboys-Saints 2010. Late in the 4th, the Cowboys lead by 4. Cowboys throw a pass over the middle that goes for a lot of extra yardage but Malcolm Jenkins still wants to win so he just steals the ball from Roy Williams, takes it right out of his arm. Saints go on to score a touchdown and win the game. Great effort play that doesn't get the credit it deserves in this type of video because it didn't happen in the 80s.
