    I'm convinced that Randy Moss had an affect on the Dallas Cowboys taking Cee Dee Lamb in this recent draft.
    Jerry Jones saw Lamb still on the board, and while WR wasn't necessarily a need for them, Jones was like, "I will not make this mistake twice"

    • @shrihithtalapaneni9227
      @shrihithtalapaneni9227 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Harry Engel What?? No.

    • @orangefox1231
      @orangefox1231 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well of course. But don't forget Dez Bryant ten years earlier. The Moss mistake is one that Jerry will never forgive himself for and rightfully so.

    • @orangefox1231
      @orangefox1231 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Harry Engel No. He fell because it was a receiver loaded draft, so teams in the top half of the draft then picked other premium positions like OT and defense because they felt like they could get a quality receiver in round 2. Raiders and Denver picked Alabama guys. Then right there was Dallas and Cee Dee Lamb was not going past them. But absolutely the miss on the Randy Moss pick made Jerry not pass up on another explosive wide receiver that fell into his lap.

    • @Gungho73
      @Gungho73 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's also why he threw that much money and capital at a guy like Detroits Roy Williams.

    • @tmap92
      @tmap92 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may not be a direct reaction to whiffing on Randy Moss, but there is a reason we have the saying "History repeats for those that do not learn from it." Of course, ironically trying to make up for a screw up turns to undermine any progress--so just learn feom it and move on. You fucked up when you made Jimmy Johnson leave, Jerrah. Maybe just be an owner, not trying to be a GM too--you obviously are not qualified enough for that.

    One interesting note I just discovered after doing some digging. Of all the teams to play on Thanksgiving in the Super Bowl era, only 14 have played on Thanksgiving and played in the SB in the same season.
    Of the 14, only 6 have won the Super Bowl (every Cowboys championship team except 1977, 1969 Chiefs, 1973 Dolphins). And 1969 was the only time you had both eventual SB teams playing on Thanksgiving (Chiefs, Vikings; they didn't play each other on Thanksgiving btw).

    • @BTLAGS
      @BTLAGS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The fact they limited to him to 3 catches and he still gained massive amount yards shows how explosive and deadly he could be even in small increments. Randy Moss only caught 100 balls only twice in his career while his former teammate wes welker caught over 100 balls 5 times in those time he caught 110 plus 3 times and catching 120 plus 2 times. Randy's strength was catching touchdowns,stretching the field, and gaining yards. 98 and 07 Randy are the most prolific and deadly versions of him.

A man who bounced around and never found a steady NFL career, Raising eyebrows from Cowboy nation on that amazing Thanksgiving comeback, had interesting conflicts with Staubach and later Fouts, no doubt. Tried to make it in Canada before returning to the Cardinals. The world needs to know more about this man and his story.

    What was so demoralizing about the Leon Lett loss was that Dallas was coming off a 27-14 stinker to the Falcons, which, when coupled with their opening season pair of losses, dropped them to 7-4, a record everyone knew was beneath them. They weren't in danger of missing the playoffs with this record, but they had to wait 10 days (!) to erase the stink of the Miami defeat and probably needed to run the table to take the division. I had to go for a walk after Lett's debacle.

      I remember that 87 game like it was yesterday and it absolutely broke my heart. Dallas wins that game and they get the last wild card spot and a a winning record in the regular season. I watched the first half at my grandmother's house but my mom insisted we had to drive home at half time and I missed the entire second half, except for OT. In fact I flipped the TV on just as poor Danny White chucked a wounded duck down field on a scramble that got intercepted. I wasn't even mad at him because I knew it was because of the wrist injury from the previous year that never really healed properly. Then Minnesota scores a touchdown with their first set of downs and that was it. I was too young to realize it but that was truly the end of an era as Danny White would never start another game and Coach Landry would never be within reach of a playoff berth again. I felt so awful for both of them that day and it was the beginning of a long nightmare that didn't really end until 91 in Jimmy's third season as coach.

      @@isaacgreen3273 Neither one. Take away the Lions' and Cowboys' Thanksgiving traditions, and goodbye NFL football. Cowboys are no. 2 in America alongside the Lions. Dallas is right up there with Detroit in celebration of America's greatest holiday pastimes Thanksgiving and football. Let's keep these traditions!

      Eh... Outside of Lions and Cowboys fans (and maybe some of the NFC North and East rivals), no one particularly likes having Detroit and Dallas on Thanksgiving - but also nobody really cares enough to stop it from happening.
      If the league saw a value in changing it up, they absolutely would - the NFL draft was a New York City staple since before the Super Bowl era (and before the Cowboys started playing Thanksgiving), but that tradition vanished when the owners realized how much money they could make auctioning the rights all around the country. They've already added a third primetime game since 2006.
      My idea would be to allow the Lions and Cowboys to keep playing on Thanksgiving ... BUT, they only get to be the home team IF they win the Thanksgiving game the prior year. If they lose, then they're playing away next season. That'll add some stakes to the game, and let some other teams get a shot at hosting. The tradition would be intact - we still get to watch the Lions and Cowboys on Thanksgiving. The tradition isn't about watching Ford Field and Jerry's World, after all.
      I think it would be fun. America's Team vs America, for the right to eat Thanksgiving turkey at home. Why should all the other teams be forced to spend Thanksgiving away from their families?

      @@isaacgreen3273 What should happen is this.
      A. Detroit and Dallas should rotate. Even years are Dallas cuz they go 8 - 8. Odd years in Detroit cuz it is odd for them to win.
      In 2020 The game would be DC at Dallas. That would be 1:00 EST. The 4:25 game would be Baltimore at Pitt. then, the final nightcap should always have the SB Champ. Luckily this year we have a good game for KC during Thanksgiving week. KC at Tampa should be the final one at 8: 20. The following year should be Detroit at home at 1, another division game at 4:25, and a nightcap featuring the incumbent champs.

      Yeah but even though Michael Irvin was getting on in years he was still playing. NOBODY knew that he would only make it in to the 5th game of the 99 season before he would be forced to retire. With Irvin gone there was nobody left to throw the ball too. Obviously not literally but it really put a hurt on the offense not to have that big play threat out there. Gotta think even if Randy Moss had gone bad it would have taken him a couple of years to do so and those years could have been critical to the team. Doesn't really matter since the team has been cursed ever since Jones so stupidly fired Jimmy.
