Great video. Yeah, having two kids I just bought a Ebike, I can ride from home to trails almost as fast as loading the mtbike in the truck, driving and unloading it. I ride way more because of it.

I don't worry about my own opinions on e bikes, let alone the opinions of others and now ride happily in the middle of a pack of young and old riders and simply enjoy the day
I feel the new parent sleep struggle. She's 15 months now and it's definitely improved a lot (Except for uh... last night... and earlier this week... a couple times). Always love watching your laps Dave!
I used to ride dirt bikes in New Jersey. Then moved to Vermont and got into Mtb'n 1998. Then got an Ebike 2019. The best cross between the dirt bike and acoustic bike!!
I do like the narration while riding. I’ve seen it mentioned by another subscriber, obviously your little snickers and laughs are great! “Come on Dave” also let me know that you’re busting your ass! But like I say the calm narration is really a cool thing especially when you’re hitting that double black feature! I did ask on another video when you were on your Norco, rear wheel lifts, are they tougher, or are you just leaning into it a little more?
Definitely tougher to pivot. You need to be much more deliberate compared to a lighter bike. It's interesting though because it makes me find alternate lines and techniques to compensate.
Nice riding. I’ve got about 700 miles on my 52lb, 250W mid-drive hardtail (mostly on green and blue trails in CO). I’ve found the bike seems lighter the more I ride it. I leave it at 0 assist on downhills and relatively flat places. But I have also noted it is a bit harder to change lines (especially on climbs). Seems like once Im locked in a line, I’d better just ride it out.
It will get lighter as well! As the battery with a three to five year lifespan wears out, them price a new battery up! Where as My Scott Scale 710 hardtail purchased in 2018 next year is five years old, still as good as new!
We have the same bikes. Meta SX and meta SX ebike. I ride the ebike once a week and the acoustic version twice a week. Do the same trail (second trail) as in this video quite regularly. Some things are actually easier on the ebike. But certainly not as playful. But to be able to do a big lap in just over an hour is crazy. Up versus down ratio is about 1/1. 30 mins up give me 30 down.
Most people in the real world don’t ride double black on analogue or ebikes. Love my ebikes and regular ride black trails. But then again I just rode in Andorra on a Commencal SX and loved it. So I just bought a new Commencal Clash. This will be strictly for chair lifts and shuttles. I’m in it for going down, not riding up.
since switching to e-bikes I've found for dh double black etc it just takes getting used to the weight of it. You learn the sweet spot and handling characteristics of the heavier weight. We are just so used to using light bikes that it feels awkward at first. I grew up riding 45-50 pound dh bikes though so that may also be a factor. I still definitely prefer a regular bike for skinnies as it is just easier to maneuver. I'm hoping over time I get use to skinnies on it as well.
Hey Dave! So good to run into on the trails today! Hope my buddy Dave and I didn’t ruin you shoot with our rc crawl trucks on the trail. Keep up the all the great content.
Interesting thoughts on riding tech trails on an eMTB. I have been riding trails like these for many years on my acoustic bike and I ordered an eMTB as my ride after surgery. I figured it's better than no riding at all, and the advantages and disadvantages are pretty easy to figure out conceptually. I appreciate the "real world" commentary.
Such a fun trail, rode it Friday and man it is running mint, all time fall time finally showed up. On the kid sleep front it does get better (doesn't help to hear it I know haha). 4 year old and 20 month old at home, starting to see light at the end of the tunnel with #2 and the 4 year old has been fine for years now.
Question: what's your top tip for trackstands? I've just started practicing in the garage and have a theory about having my _outside foot forward_ seems to be a good theory, any tips?
Also pedaling backwards faster seems to help. I'm not on a flash bike at all just an old 10 speed hardtail with about 20 engagement points on the hub ha ha

Damn - pretty happy with that one. No doubt. I would have been walking 4 or 5 times already by that point. Also new with e-bike, I like the tech climbing (tech lite compared to this), but still don't have the confidence over my regular mtb on the descents. Crazy good riding.

Nyy it at throwing this out there. So what is the difference in a e bike and my cove peeler that weighed in just under 50lbs? People use to ride heavy bikes on trails before things got light weight oriented.
I have a norco sight vlt. The thing I like most is that I can just go faster up the mtn. I swear I actually work harder on the e-bike as I’m taking less breaks and more excited to keep my speed up. Majority of MTB will be e-bikes in 5-10 years. It’s just better.
Yo, what’s the rules for ebikes where you ride in BC? Where I ride in the ADKs ebikes are not allowed. Although I don’t ride one, I think it’s kinda silly they are not allowed.
The only time i start wishing i was on my normal bike compared to the eeb is when i come across a big drop i haven't done before, prefer to try it out on something i can move easier just incase i nose dive cos trying to pull up the front on the eeb when you are to nose heavy is pretty hard lol

I went from 165-160-155, and found 155 to be the sweet spot. I never thought 10mm would matter that much, but it really does. Pedal strikes are gone. I’m also in a better position while climbing… not sure if this’ll help ya, but worked for me. Be safe out there. 🤘🏼
I went mountain biking for the first time a few weeks ago with a group of beginners. I broke my tailbone on a green trail and now watching your videos is like watching a Saw movie. They used to be relaxing so I'm hoping they can get me to be less absolutely terrified to do it again.
This guy is master level. I've been riding all my life and I can't even do what he does.
