Can a yone help or advice. Set this up as directed in the box and it's primed and running right but the water isn't clear enough. It's bitty. Had a sponge filter in there before and tbh had crystal clear water then.
Where do you purchase the pre filter sponge? the one that stops babies getting sucked into the filter - I have this filter for 1yr & can't find them - Thanks 👍
Hi! I've got the same situation. Should I not leave both filters running for a while in the same time ? Is it enough just to put the old filter cartridge in the external filter ?
Hi, is the tank planted? How long has it been set up? If it is a well established tak then yes you can just move the cartridges over and maybe do an extra water change that week to be sure.
@@MB-pi3ep You actually dont need to change the media, the media is where a lot of the bacteria live. Just every few weeks take them out and swish them around inside a bucket of tank water to remove large debris and then put them back. Only replace them if they are falling apart or something. Same with bio-balls, dont replace them. I've had fish tanks for 10 years and the only time there is new media is when it comes with a new filter. The only media you should replace is "filter floss" if you use it, that white stuf that looks like cheap bedding filler material as that will disintegrate if left for too long, if you use that it does help clean your water as its very fine and catches and holds bits better, you can put that as the top layer then every few weeks replace it but you might not really need it or use it anyway.
Im working on it lol, cant find a good inline heater for me, so I am trying to think about how to get a cable out safely. Probably gonna try putting it under the bottom tray, drilling a small hole and patching it with silicone and 3d printed parts.
How has this been working? I've heard that when you do a clean, you need to take the outlet hose out of the water as there's no valve, is that correct?
Now see the way you ordered ot inside makes sense. We recently bought one and done it in order it states woth media balls at bottom and the plastic tray being at top which is nightmare and water isn't clear. Kept saying to my partner it doesn't make sense this way. Shown him this and gonna say it round to way you've done it.
I've got this filter 3 years ago for a 40 liter tank (10 Gallon). My own experience has been just great. But the media balls and ceramic tubes must be placed at the bottom of the canister since this model has the outlet at the bottom and the inlet dirty water at the top, contrary to other models. Many people complains is not easy to prime it. We just use the manual pump from the cleanig siphon and it's quickly and easy. We never had water leaks, nor is too noisy, although we made a rubber/ soft silicone mat with the 3d printer to avoid the little vibration noise sometimes you can hear if is placed in a hard wood surface (same with the air pump), I guess a mouse pad should work just fine. Our filter is placed at same level of the tank. Works fine. I bought a 80 liter tank and I'm thinking to buy same brand but next size filter. This model should be fine but I rather prefer has a bit more capacity filtering than be just bordering the limit. After 3 years my update and thoughts is a good filter, never had any problems.
I think you put the bio material on top so the beneficial bacteria that grows on it has first dibs on the undiluted dirty waste. and the rest of the set up filters then polishes the water. Correct me if I'm wrong?
I'm considering this for a 25litre planted shrimp tank. Would be keeping it on the countertop level with the tank. The spray bar doesn't look like it gives too powerful of a jet (for shrimp). What do you reckon?
Nice vid and great tank . I just don’t understand the way you are filling the canister . I suppose the water goes from bottom to top so why do you put first the finest media wich will be so directly full of mock. Wouldn’t it be better to put in the order coarse médium and then fine before your biological medias ? I would also add some more biological medias and throw away the plastic balls wich are no use at all in this canister 😉
Hey man was just wondering is the reason you put the black sponge around the filter on the left(where the water goes into the filter) because you don’t want small species (e.g fry) getting sucked in? Or is it a different reason
AquaViva Ah ok I was thinking that, this was a very helpful video by the way! Just one question do you think this filter would be suitable for a saltwater tank or just freshwater?
The intake filter is great for fry or shrimp not being sucked in, but also for fewer cleaning regimes of the canister filter, as most of the uneaten food or crap is not dragged through the impeller and into the canister. Your fish can even pick the bits of flake off the sponge.
hi great video I am buying this for my new fish tank could you please tell me the names of your plants especially the ones that are floating on top of the water thanks. Subbed.
Beautiful tank. Thought the bio balls go at the bottom though. I have a ef-250 in my 200 litre and it's great for a budget cannister

Is there any way to add a heater to the external filter?
There isn't, no. Although an in-line heater would work.

Ain’t this the wrong way round ? Should the balls and not be at the bottom with the fine media at the top ?
The water enters at the top and exits at the bottom in this canister
@@AquaViva1 you should finish up with the balls then. They shouldn’t be at the start of the filtration process.
Yeah, coarse/medium/fine sponge then biological. The last thing the water should hit it the biological media
Oh thanks guys 🙌

Is it running under your Aquarium? I mean under aquarium table ? Easily lifting water to Aquarium and sucking water from such height easily?
Yep, under the tank as seen in the thumbnail and it works great.
