3:18 honestly the reaction of those cops in Far Cry 5 is probably the most realistic reaction that someone would have. Not panic or indifference but a 'is this for real?' look and feel. A nuke going off in the real world immediately triggers the seven stages of grief because of how destructive it is and how unbelievable it is that someone was actually insane enough to go through with launching the nuke. Most humans would go through the first two stages of grief of shock/disbelief and denial the moment the nuke went off
I'm pretty sure there are both conventional bombs in use today that are more potent than that, and no nuclear weapons impotent enough that you could survive being close enough to see the physical object itself landing.
I was just 7 or 8 years old when my dad bought me my first PC. The PC had Call of Duty 4 and all I can say is that I was really blown with that game. In that nuclear bomb scene, my kid heart couldn't handle the pain of my character dying. I remember crying. It was the first game I played, so that's that.
One thing most people don't realise is that almost all depictions of explosions in moves and games are wrong. The shockwave moves at the speed of sound, so, you hear nothing until the shockwave hits you. In most depictions you hear the blast instantly. But I find the realistic way far more scary especially in the case of a nuke. A blinding flash of light, silence the whole time, then a shock wave condensing the air into a cloud layer rushing towards you, then, *BOOM*.
Not first the Flashlight, then the Hotwaves who first burning All, Then the Boom and Then the Shockwave who destroy All ?? So first All Bio died, by burned from Hotflash and All Others destroy through Shockwafe.
@@cracker2016 That depends on distance. Further away the heat and radiation would have far less of an effect, however the shock wave would still have quite an impact until quite a ways out even beyond the flash zone. The "hot flash" is typical and more of a unique feature of nukes due to the incredible temperatures they produce. At closer range there will be a heat flash the second the nuke detonates as the heat moves at the speed of light.

Most of those explosions are slower than real life, and they're way less deadlier , compared to Beirut's explosion, a nuke should leave you blind and possibly deaf for hours if not days. Many of the explosions are kind of what's expected of a nuke not what a nuke actually is.. it's far worse than you'd expect.

Total Annihilation, a really early and amazing RTS game on PC from about 1996, had nukes. That game was so ahead of its time, real 3D models before 3D accelerators were really a thing, and 3D mapped terrain so the units moved realistically, texture mapping, shadows, etc. Even a top end PC of the day started to struggle once you had 100+ units on screen. They had to set the unit cap to just 200, and 250 in multiplayer games, otherwise it became a slideshow. I remember fighting my friend in a LAN, and I knew he was going air units and in 10 minutes he'd kill me cos I neglected anti-air. So I built a nuclear silo and a missle, and I launched it straight into the middle of his base. He didn't see it coming and the nuke crossed the map as he watched the blue dot approach his base in horror. As it landed, there was a great white flash and a huge sound before both of our PC's crashed and turned off. Nukes in Total Annihilation were so powerful, they crashed your gaming PC when they hit. We had to ban them in multiplayer games until we'd upgraded. Wasn't until we upgraded to Pentium III's, like YEARS later, that we could actually use nukes in that game. Brilliant.
@@marcusgardner7640 Awesome game, but ruined an MMX Pentium PC! XD I miss those days, when developers pushed the hardware to it's limits. What were they thinking? And worry about the minimum system requirements later....". I got a couple of 4K LG TV's a few years back, and still had a copy of TA installed with the 1500 unit limit patch. Telling you bro, playing TA in 2021, with a Ryzen 3700X and a 4K 43" LG Nanocell TV, in 1440p with a 1000 unit limit and the new enhanced AI (that builds like crazy) on the new map packs in an 8 player FFA, theres nothing like it! What's so incredibly scary about the Modern Warfare nuke scene is that even if the player somehow survived that nuke for a while, he will wish he hadn't.
There's an old, less known PS2 game called Heatseeker that had fantastic nuclear scenes. It was a fighter jet game and so far ahead of it's time, phenomenal game
That call of duty 4 nuke really fucked me up when I was young. Like, I understood enough of the world by that point to understand war wasn't just a TV show. Seeing the city burn like that really scared me and made me think in a way you'd not expect a video game to do.

People drops nukes in that game like child’s toy. And you can even select the place to drop that nuke. It can be your friend’s camp, any NPC or player or just drop it right on your head. Can you can do it as many times as you want. If there’s a game that allows you to abuse nuke, 76 it is.

I remember playing Battlefield 3 for the first time and the chills that I got when the case was empty and they were tricked… one of the best on the list in my opinion story wise.
When I was younger firstly playing bf3 campaign I found it slow and boring but as I got older I appreciated it more. Compared to steaming turd that was BF4 campaign, BF3 was a masterpiece
@@mariolisa2832 In general it was a much better campaign, pacing and story wise. I mean, there's no emotions from me for Pac or Irish, we get just one mission where we go to Baku, get our squad leader killed and have our character become the squad leader. In Battlefield 3 we relive the events and the shock. The nuke scene was genius, the first time I played I was just as shocked as the marines, even more so when two are missing and we don't know where they are or who has them. It also puts the events out of order, so it's up to you to put the pieces back together and work everything out. However, I think the book (Battlefield 3: The Russian) was a much better story for Dima's side and explained a whole lot more in that timeline. (Spoilers for the BF3 book, skip it if you want to read it) It differs vastly to BF3 and explains how things got so fucked up before we even play. In the book, Dima works alongside Solomon in the GRU on an op, who is at the time his protégé, in 1991 to capture or kill a nuclear scientist named Khalaji, so instantly it flips the script. We thought Solomon was just someone Dima knew to be a terrorist but in the book its adds the sting as Dima fails to make Solomon a worthy protégé and he goes apeshit and goes on his own mission. It also explains how Kroll, Vladimir and Dima know eachother (spoiler: kroll dies instead of Vladimir to help Dima get the nuke) Solomon's backstory and reasoning, the story of the marine squad, why are the nukes gone, who has them and who's pulling the strings. End of spoilers I can't write about all of it because there's so much in depth lore to it that I'd be writing a thousand fucking paragraphs, but I highly recommend for anyone that loves BF3's story to read the book (It's written by Andy McNab, a former SAS Operative who also wrote Bravo Two Zero, a retelling of his mission and how he was captured and tortured, so you know the book is going to be exciting).
@@ThatTurboProbe more of the book being better I guess, its amazing how people can fanboy over a story that is so overly cliched just because it got a lot of hate.
The Far cry 5 explosion terrified me when i first played the game. I chose to resist, obviously, and how the moment he says "The wrath of god upon the earth" and the explosion right after makes it even more terrifing.
personally I've taken to interpreting that particular ending sequence as just being one gigantic acid trip after getting the bliss thrown in your face.
Something about the Far Cry 5 scene gets me. Even though I knew (in words) what was going to happen at the end, it was still such an utter shock to actually SEE that it was actually happening and hearing and feeling the reactions of the other characters, including Joseph, really sold it. And, if I’m not mistaken, Joseph or his cult didn’t have anything to do with actually launching the nukes, so everything that he saw in a prophecy or some such, actually came to pass. He was right the whole time.

The one from Arma 3 is by far the most accurate. Completely silent and bright enough to cause blindness in some cases without even looking directly at it.
Well it was from the beta, and even then the nukes in Fallout 76 are all in game and not part of a pre-rendered cutscene like all the other clips in the video. I personally feel like they shouldn’t included it though since it’s kinda unfair to compare a cutscene to an in game event.
I think visually FEAR 2 might in many way have been the most realistic thanks to the sheer scale of the explosion. It still misses the blinding light at the beginning, as well as having sounds from the explosion reaching the player before the actual shockwave
I don't know how you did not include one of the most chilling scenes, the one from the original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. The music, the scene, the silence, the vocals... terrifying and not glorified and doesn't feel like spectacle while being spectacular and haunting.

Totally agreed. Accurate depictions of nukes are far more terrifying than the Hollywood/Michael Bay versions.
I find not hearing the explosion immediately far scarier. The silence would be deafening.

Brilliant.

I remember playing Battlefield 3 for the first time and the chills that I got when the case was empty and they were tricked… one of the best on the list in my opinion story wise.
The voice acting when the Marines find the empty cases is really great too.
(Spoilers for the BF3 book, skip it if you want to read it)
It differs vastly to BF3 and explains how things got so fucked up before we even play.
End of spoilers
I can't write about all of it because there's so much in depth lore to it that I'd be writing a thousand fucking paragraphs, but I highly recommend for anyone that loves BF3's story to read the book (It's written by Andy McNab, a former SAS Operative who also wrote Bravo Two Zero, a retelling of his mission and how he was captured and tortured, so you know the book is going to be exciting).

Real smart of them to walk out of the plane as if a nuclear strike didn’t just happen exposing themselves to radiation.
6:07 - For a game that boasted "16 times the detail" that nuke explosion was lame.
Yes, the plants didn't even moved
Looked faked af and was small af
Fallout 3 had a better nuke and it was made in 2006
@@DiousVious so did Fallout 4
-_- I meant that fallout 76 looks like its nuke was made by 3 year olds and fallout 3 looks like its nuke was made by people 7-10 times the age
4:33 that part just make me very sad when hearing the desperation from the pilot
I don’t even know wht the fuck he is even sayin
Especially when it fades away cuz I’m pretty sure one was saying “I love you mama MAMAA
WeT nUgGeT I thought it was mama mama MAMAAA!!!
@@ZofasSofas he says "i dont wanna die!!! Mama i dont wanna die!!"
You should play the metro series. (Metro: 2033, Metro: Last light, Metro: Exodus) They're really good games. It's like a mix between a Survival, Horror, and FPS game.
2:39 Makarov: Do it.
Meanwhile... at 0:04
The same event, different games.
