This is the kind of instructional video I’ve been looking for. Very brief, informative and direct to the point. Thank you so much for giving me this weapon. More power to The Chemical Guys!
Growing up my Saturday chore every weekend was detailing my parents cars and my dad was as perfectionist as perfectionist gets. I feel as if I’ve used a majority of the products on the market. Now as I’ve grown up and can make some money on the side detailing I’m Always looking for better products, chemical guys has done nothing but impress me thus far . Great products, great informational videos on all the products. Love it.
I love to detail my car for hours and hours. I love using all this products and the next day looking at how beautiful my sport bike looks ! I even bought everything for my father to clean his car he loves washing
Nick, you are a excellent speaker! Thank you for simplifying the Chemical Guys line for us. Please do a series of videos of each of you telling how they came into detailing, favorite car kind of stuff. While they are telling about themselves have them demoing a Chemical Guys product. Thank you... :)
I just walked in from using trim cleaner followed by tire kicker on the faded plastic between the hood and windshield. It looks so good and it was easy to do. Plastic and rubber trim should be emphasized more often, CG has very good products for the job.
If you're borderline OCD, you need to start detailing. Takes me at minimum 5 hrs, but a few beers and good music, some nicotine and I'm all set. The prize is ever so rewarding. Figured I'd learn as one of my cars was ruined from auto washes and Florida sun and I never waxed or sealed, relying on the most expensive auto wash to protect my baby. Big mistake. So I learned my lesson and started detailing my newer vehicles myself. Turns out I enjoy doing it and looking to start a side gig. Everyone walking their dogs by my house stop and ask if I have a business! I do now. And here i was in a pinch needing extra income to help with a home purchase. Never would've thought. Thanks Chemical Guys. For real. I'd love to promote Chemical Guys. You all have any car decals or anything.?
Hey Marcus, that's awesome! Keep up the good work!! Check out our stickers. www.chemicalguys.com/round-decal-sticker/cg-decal.html?gtmListValue=Internal%20Search

Thanks for the great video ...... I have a question about HydroSlick and Jet Seal. Which layer helps me wash my car most easily? Which layer helps repel water, dirt better?
Great! Video thanks for the valuable information! My steps were: wash, clay, compund, polish and carnauba wax. But clearly I have been missing steps jaja. Again thanks for the info
This is super HELPFUL!!! Thanks for making the remark about if you just clay bar the vehicle and skip polishers and go straight to wax. In the beginning of the video, I was wondered I had to do the polishing stage instead of just being able to clay the car. Also is that detailer spray a good alternative to using the clay luber?
Love the video! Enjoyed the little clips between polishing examples wish there were more clips in between for the ceramic products and all the sealants and waxes
After applying “hydro charge” or “hydro slick” and buffing it off, is there any curing time I have to wait on before applying my sealant or wax, or can I apply that right after?
Hey Chemical Guys, appreciate the helpful video! Question. So, with my budget I recently purchased a Torq polisher as well as your P4 and C4 polishes, and your Wet Mirror Glaze. My plan is as follows: Soap down the car, hit it with a clay bar, polish it up with the P4 and C4 polishes and then finally finish off the car with the Wet Mirror Glaze. Is this a correct order and are there any other steps/products that I am forgetting? Thanks in advance!
I forgot to add that I also purchased the Hydroslick Ceramic coating. In your professional opinion where in my detailing process would applying ceramic coating best belong?
Hey! Thanks so much for your message. Sounds great, apply HydroSlick after polishing and before Wet Mirror Glaze for the longest lasting bond. - CG Nick

Hey Nick, great and very helpful video! Question, can I use the same or some of these products in the rims too? And with that specific order? If not, can you consider make a similar video to this only for the rims? Because we have also there, brake dust, dust, or other debris.
Hi there! Most of these products can be used on gloss finish wheels as well but that is great topic for a video. Stay safe, happy detailing!! - CG Nick
Hi Nick, really liked this video very good explanation of the flow chart. Was thinking of buying some black light glaze to put on my truck, I know you said you can skip the polishing stage and apply this but could I still polish then apply the glaze then wax over that
@@ChemicalGuys Hi Nick, that blacklight glaze is amazing can not believe how it has transformed my black paint was thinking of trying some of the v7 liquid wax and v7 spray sealant is that ok to use over black light and in what order do I apply them. Hope you can help me out Thanks
Hi, very great video....Is it mandatory to use Chemical Guys products for polishing? Can I use polished products from other brands and then apply HydroSlick? I am in Vietnam and it is difficult to buy all your products (although I would love to), currently I only have HydroSlick
Hi there! Thanks so much for watching. Although it is recommended to use one brand for consistency it's perfectly fine to use other brands before applying HydroSlick. - CG Nick
Nick, This video is just what I needed since I'm overwhelmed by all the similar products that CGs offers. I'm surprised that you don't have an iron remover before the wash. If I wash my car, clay it, wash it again, skip the compound/polish since my paint is good, add Wet Mirror Finish, then Jet Seal, and finally Butter Wet Wax, would this be a good work flow? And, would it be safe for me to use all of these materials (less the compounds) on my ceramic coated vehicle? Thanks! 👍
Hey! Allow about thirty minutes in between coatings. HydroSpeed can be used at the end of the detail as well as in between car washes to maintain a clean finish.
I will be having my 5th gen Honda Prelude painted Black next month. This is what I plan on getting, please let me know if I am missing anything for a brand new paint job: 1. Light clay bar 4. Luber Spray 5. Dual action / random orbital buffer That seems to be it I think. I'll be able to wash, clay bar, seal, wax, and detail the vehicle?
Hey Andrew!! Apply Black Light either after polishing or directly after applying ceramic. Absolutely, Black Wax is a great choice for enhancing depth and a mirror like gloss. - CG Nick
for your detailing spray what is the best micro towel? And you are so good at explaining as you good thanks so much! Just got a new Silverado 1500 crew cab LTZ and want to start out right! Larry
Hi! Thanks so much for watching. I like to the Workhorse or Happy Ending Microfiber Towels with quick detail sprays to gently pick up debris and spent product. - CG Nick
@CG Nick. Great video as always. I wanted to ask you I have a 2019 RAV4 silver metallic which I bought back in 5/1/20. However, I never clayed it before which clay would you recommend? Also, would you recommend VSS or Jet seal. And as for wax what would you recommend white wax or butter wet wax. Also, since the car is a year old if I use the OG clay bar would it damage my paint, or it would damage it, since it hasn’t been clayed ever since I bought the car. Great video Nick!!
Hi there! Thanks so much for watching. An OG Clay Bar with plenty of Luber will be fine for your RAV4. If it has light scratches and swirls, you can polish using VSS or move straight to applying your favorite coatings. I highly recommend the combination of JetSeal and Butter Wet Wax. - CG Nick
Hi Chemical Guys! Been following you for a few months now, getting into detailing myself. I was about to place an 800 dollar order for everything last week, but your website kept saying it couldn't find what i was looking for when i went to the cart. It still isn't working, so ended up buying *some* of the stuff on amazon. Id like to buy directly from you, and I know I will be spending a few hundred a month likely, is this due to the covid 19? Or could I be doing something wrong? Love the videos! From what reviews I have watched, nobody beats your products and prices.
Do you guys make print outs of the flow chart? Have seen it on the Chem. Guys detailing facebook page and was wanting it in a nice card stock to put on the inside door of my detailing cabinet as a quick reference.
Is it clay bar instead of compound or should you compound then clay bar before polishing and moving on with the flow chart? Is it necessary for the average car care person to ceramic glaze and seal then wax or is it good enough to skip those three steps. and just wax it? Do you have recommendations for orbital car polisher? Thank you for the how to videos.
Hi Rebecca! Thanks for watching. It would be best to wash, clay bar and polish the vehicle before moving on to coatings. The TORQX is a great machine for honing polishing skills. It is completely fine to skip ceramic, glaze, and sealant but we recommend them because the more layers on the paint, the more gloss and protection it will provide. - CG Nick
Hello, everyone. A couple quick questions. How often, as a general rule, should you do all these steps as a whole on a yearly basis? And recommendations on waxes or sealants for white cars? Anything I can see when I wipe off. Thanks.
Hey there! Thanks so much for reaching out. Yes, to maintain a flawless finish use this detailing regimen yearly. I recommend using JetSeal and Butter Wet Wax for a long lasting shine. - CG Nick
@@ChemicalGuys, after the full detail with all the products mentioned what is the proper way to maintain the vehicle? Other than the quick detailer can any of these products be reapplied say 3-6 months or do you have to strip it back down and run through the full lineup from scratch?
Hi there! Great question, I recommend applying dressings toward the end of the exterior detail. After coatings have been applied by before the fine wipe down using your favorite quick detail spray. This way any overspray on residue that gets on the paint can be easily wiped away and won't be forgotten. - CG Nick
Nick and Chem Guys fam. Could you guys do a feature on PINSTRIPE REMOTELY and POST PINSTRIPE PAINT CORRECTION. It’s a subject that isn’t really talked about. People show taking it off with the vinyl wheel but don’t cover paint correction for the giant difference in color. Thanks as always guys!
Hey Nicholas! Great suggestion, that's a topic I've wanted to cover for awhile now. Whenever removing decals, stripes or anything that covers the original paint you will usually see a difference without extensive polishing. Stay tuned! - CG Nick
Very good video I enjoyed the straight to the point but also detailed but I have one question for the hydro slick ceramic would I use it before or after jet seal ?
Great video, but I'm still a little confused. Do you use the ceramic hyperwax in conjunction with a normal wax such as Butter Wax? Or is the ceramic hyperwax okay on it's own?
Hi Cody! HydroCharge and HydroSlick can be used as a standalone layer of protection or for even more gloss and protection, use a combination or all three glaze, sealant and wax. - CG Nick
Awesome video! Question; My Truck is a 2016 and I have never clay bar'd it should I use a medium or a heavy for the first time? Also after this first clay treatment do you typically move to the OG for subsequent clay treatments? Also living in Florida we have tons of bugs! Can I clay my car if there is bug residue on the paint or should I use your tar remover to get that off first? Thanks so much for the awesome how-to videos!
Hey there! I would use a Medium Clay Bar with plenty of Luber to remove stains, contaminants and other stubborn grime. There's no need to move down in the levels of clay, the medium will do the job. - CG Nick
Love the information ! Quick question , say i wash my car with a hydro soap , than clay bar it , can i skip the polishing step and go into the process of applying hydro charge and hydro slick , a glaze , a sealant and wax ?
Hi. You guys are amazing. I really like details you put and show in yours videos. One quick question. If I am planning to put PPF on my car, after what stage you guys think is the best to put the film. Can I put the film on after applying hydro slick?? Thank you.
Hey there! Thanks so much for your message. After thoroughly cleaning/decontaminating and paint correction(if necessary) you can choose to apply HydroSlick then add PPF. To protect the vinyl, use JetSeal and/or Butter Wet Wax. HydroSlick is best suited for gloss painted surfaces. - CG Nick
If you skip the V-line of products because the paint is in good condition, are you going straight to the glaze or are you applying the ceramic products first?
Good question, following the flowchart you would just delete the polishing section and continue as normal by applying ceramic before glaze, sealant and/or wax. - CG Nick
Hey! After washing the vehicle with your favorite soap, use Bug & Tar Wash in the troublesome areas as well as DeCon to chemically decontaminate the surface before using a clay bar to extract the embedded filth. - CG Nick
Would these steps be applied to carbon fiber? I was thinking since I just ordered a bunch of these products, I was going to go in this order: white light glaze -> Jets eat -> hydroslick. Would this be incorrect? Not only for carbon fiber but for an entire white car such as mine?
What would you recommend for the maintenance and upkeep after stacking products? When, or what would I look for to eventually strip it all down and start from the beginning?
Hey! We recommend Mr. Pink, it is the perfect maintenance car wash shampoo that is tough on dirt, yet gentle on wax and sealant with slick lubricants that gently guide dirt and grime off the car for a scratch-free wash! www.chemicalguys.com/mr.-pink-super-suds-superior-surface-cleanser-car-wash-shampoo/mr-pink-shampoo.html
I've used the HyperSlick and put 2 complete coats on my car, what else can I do to pop the shine even more? What product would you recommend to use after HyperSlick or do I just keep adding more layers of HyperSlcik for more shine???? Let me know your thoughts?
Hey! Thanks so much for watching. You can layer glaze, sealant, and/or wax for added protection while enhancing gloss and shine. Wet Mirror Finish, JetSeal and Butter Wet Wax is a great combination. - CG Nick
Where would a real ceramic coating fit into this flow? after polish thats the only thing right? Then you would use the ceramic soap and spray to maintain it?
Hey there! Correct, ceramic coating would fall in line after polishing/paint correction. HydroSuds is a great way to boost and maintain coatings. - CG Nick
Fuckin finally. Got a new car and all these car pros just list a shitton of products but not the order in which to use them or which were best to use. So I chose one brand (Chemical) since it had pretty decent reviews and hoped they had how to guides. This is the first detailing video Ive seen where they give a clear flow as to which products to use and when. You dont know how life saving this is. I stood in the autozone car wash section for half an hour not knowing what to buy.
My car has glossy paint with matte black racing stripes. What product should I use to protect the stripes from fading but not making them look greasy or shiny?
Hey! Check out Meticlous Matte Spray Sealant to add protection without changing the sheen. - CG Nick www.chemicalguys.com/meticulous-matte-detailer-spray-and-sealant-for-crisp-satin-and-matte-finishes/meticulous-matte-detailer.html
Do i need to wait for a period of time after each step? Is there a cure time? For example how long after i apply the ceramic do i need to wait to apply the ket seal and wax?
Can you still use a machine (and it’s recommended speeds) on the glaze/sealant/wax steps if you’ve applied the Hydro ceramic products or does everything have to be by hand after applying Hydro ceramic products?
Hi Rob! Great question, once HydroCharge and HydroSlick have had a few moments it is perfectly fine to apply your favorite glaze, sealant, and wax using a soft finishing pad and the lowest speed setting. - CG Nick
Hi Justin! Glad you enjoyed the video! Typically a glaze will last a few months but you can add longevity by applying sealant and wax on top of it. - CG Nick
So now say I have done an entire detail from start to finish. And every 3 months I would like to touch up on my protectant layer. Do I wash, dry, and apply hydroslick and wax? Or do I need to do wash, clay bar, hydroslick, then wax? My truck is brand new as well. Thanks
So are you saying after a ceramic coating and ceramic wax you would recommend to put a wax/sealant??? If so, how long do you wait till after you put the hydro wax?
Hi Nick! Yes, ceramic can be layered with your favorite glaze sealant and wax. Allow at least an hour for the ceramic to bond before applying additional coatings.
Hey! One you should definitely check out is HydroSlick Ceramic Coating HyperWax! This will enhance a brilliant high shine and protect the fresh paint against the elements.
Hey there! Wipe Out removes oils and residues as well as glaze, sealant and wax to ensure that the surface is completely clean before the next step of the detailing process. Quick detailers gently remove dust and fingerprints to keep your ride clean in between washes. - CG Nick

Hey Andrew!! Apply Black Light either after polishing or directly after applying ceramic. Absolutely, Black Wax is a great choice for enhancing depth and a mirror like gloss.

for your detailing spray what is the best micro towel? And you are so good at explaining as you good thanks so much! Just got a new Silverado 1500 crew cab LTZ and want to start out right! Larry
Hi! Thanks so much for watching. I like to the Workhorse or Happy Ending Microfiber Towels with quick detail sprays to gently pick up debris and spent product.

Hey! Please contact our customer service department for further assistance. 866-822-3670
Do you guys make print outs of the flow chart? Have seen it on the Chem. Guys detailing facebook page and was wanting it in a nice card stock to put on the inside door of my detailing cabinet as a quick reference.
Hey Jordan! Stay tuned, it is currently in the works. Happy detailing!
- CG Nick
Is it clay bar instead of compound or should you compound then clay bar before polishing and moving on with the flow chart?
Is it necessary for the average car care person
to ceramic glaze and seal then wax or is it good enough to skip those three steps.
and just wax it?
Do you have recommendations for
orbital car polisher?
Good vid, but quick question once you get to ceramic coating, glaze, sealant and wax. Is it a choice of one or all of them in that order?
Hey!! Good question, you can use one, all or a combination of them but this is all up to you.
- CG Nick
Was going to do Jetseal>Hydroslick. Should I do Hydroslick>Jetseal>Butterwet wax?
Hey there! Yes, for best results start with HydroSlick then apply JetSeal and finish with Butter Wet Wax.
- CG Nick
Great video. New to all of this. At what point do you clean (Nonsense) and dress (natural shine) the plastics? At the beginning or the end?
Stay tuned!
- CG Nick
Chemical Guys sounds great Nick. Looking forward too see it!!!
Very good video I enjoyed the straight to the point but also detailed but I have one question for the hydro slick ceramic would I use it before or after jet seal ?
Hello! Thanks so much for watching. Apply HydroSlick before adding JetSeal. Happy detailing!!
- CG Nick
But do you mix them together or one right after another one
You mix them together of course! You’ll want to get yourself a dedicated kitchen blender for detail work.
Between jet seal and wax, what should be applied first?
Should it be first jet seal then wax or first wax then jet seal?
Hey there! We recommend to apply JetSeal first then apply your favorite wax.
- CG Nick
After washing and flaying, This my thought process, can you verify? VSS, hydroslick, whitelight finish, jetseal, butter wax
Hi Chris! Thanks for tuning in. That's correct, ceramic, glaze, sealant and wax in that order.
- CG Nick
What if the vehicle paint is only neglected that the clears peeling off? What’s the best way to kind of bring that shine back?
Love the information ! Quick question , say i wash my car with a hydro soap , than clay bar it , can i skip the polishing step and go into the process of applying hydro charge and hydro slick , a glaze , a sealant and wax ?
Hey! For best results, we recommend polishing the vehicle(if necessary) before applying coatings.
great video and product review Nick.hope this finds u ,family,CG family are doing well. happy Easter
Heyy. Question. Which is first. Jet seal or butter wet wax? Thanks nick
Hey there! Thanks for watching. Apply sealant before wax.
- CG Nick
- CG Nick
Hey nick. What do you recommend to use to remove fall out and tar deposits? Thankd
Hey! After washing the vehicle with your favorite soap, use Bug & Tar Wash in the troublesome areas as well as DeCon to chemically decontaminate the surface before using a clay bar to extract the embedded filth.
- CG Nick
Blazing Banana is awesome stuff!
Great choice!!
Would these steps be applied to carbon fiber? I was thinking since I just ordered a bunch of these products, I was going to go in this order: white light glaze -> Jets eat -> hydroslick. Would this be incorrect? Not only for carbon fiber but for an entire white car such as mine?
Great video guys. Super informative and spoke well 🤙🏻
Hey Alex!! Really appreciate the incredible feedback, happy detailing!!
- CG Nick
What would you recommend for the maintenance and upkeep after stacking products? When, or what would I look for to eventually strip it all down and start from the beginning?
Hey! We recommend Mr. Pink, it is the perfect maintenance car wash shampoo that is tough on dirt, yet gentle on wax and sealant with slick lubricants that gently guide dirt and grime off the car for a scratch-free wash!
www.chemicalguys.com/mr.-pink-super-suds-superior-surface-cleanser-car-wash-shampoo/mr-pink-shampoo.html
How long is between should I apply these? Starting from Hydro Slick--Glaze--Jet seal-- and Butter?
Hey! That is the correct order of operations.
- CG Nick
Thank you for a great video!
1) Is it o.k. to use jet seal and after that using wax?
2) is it o.k. to use ceramic and then jet seal?
Thanks!
Hey! Yes, to both questions. Apply ceramic then if so desired layer on your favorite glaze, sealant, and/or wax.
- CG Nick
Question, should you wait for the HydroSlick to cure before using the glaze, or can it be applied immediately?
What's up Joseph! Allow about 10 minutes after wiping of HydroSlick before applying glaze and other coatings.
- CG Nick
Chemical Guys Thanks!
Awesome content and great to know the right process’s and what to use
Glad you enjoyed it!
We're so glad the video was helpful!!
Bro really said “lifesaving” talking about car soap. What is wrong with you
My car has glossy paint with matte black racing stripes. What product should I use to protect the stripes from fading but not making them look greasy or shiny?
Hey! Check out Meticlous Matte Spray Sealant to add protection without changing the sheen.

Very helpful thanks for the video, keep up the great work guys!
Glad you enjoyed the video!

What are some products you can recommend to use when living in very hot places like Phoenix, Arizona during the summer season?
Hey Benny! Applying HydroSlick and JetSeal will repel harsh elements and UV rays to protect your paintwork.
- CG Nick
@@ChemicalGuys Thank you, Nick! I love using Chemical Guys products and you're always fun to watch on TH-cam! Benny
- CG Nick
@@ChemicalGuys Awesome, thank you.
Hey!! My ques. Is can we apply ceramic coating after appplying wax or jetseal or sealants?
Hi! We recommend to apply ceramic coatings to bare paint for the longest lasting finish.
- CG Nick
Just after componding and polishing right?
Watch the video LOL
Great video. How long does a glaze usually last ?
Hi Justin! Glad you enjoyed the video! Typically a glaze will last a few months but you can add longevity by applying sealant and wax on top of it.
- CG Nick
Hydro slick is by far the best wax iv used.
Enjoy your detailing products!!
So now say I have done an entire detail from start to finish. And every 3 months I would like to touch up on my protectant layer. Do I wash, dry, and apply hydroslick and wax? Or do I need to do wash, clay bar, hydroslick, then wax?
My truck is brand new as well.
Thanks
The answer is feel your paint. If it needs to be clayed then do it
So are you saying after a ceramic coating and ceramic wax you would recommend to put a wax/sealant??? If so, how long do you wait till after you put the hydro wax?
Hi Nick! Yes, ceramic can be layered with your favorite glaze sealant and wax. Allow at least an hour for the ceramic to bond before applying additional coatings.
Should I add a carnauba wax after using hydro slick? If so, should i wait the 3 hrs before applying ?
Hey! Absolutely, adding wax will enhance gloss and provided protection. Yes, allow 3 hours before applying additional coats.
Great video. Which one of the products should I use for a newly painted orange car (painted +6 months now) ? Thanks in advance!
Hey! One you should definitely check out is HydroSlick Ceramic Coating HyperWax! This will enhance a brilliant high shine and protect the fresh paint against the elements.
@@ChemicalGuys thanks for the reply! should i use jet seal before applying HydroSlick or is HydroSlick enough?
I’ve been using ceramic spray after butter wax haven’t tried jet seal yet but when applying should Ceramic spray first?
Hey! For the longest lasting bond apply ceramic first and then JetSeal followed by Butter Wet Wax.
- CG Nick
@@ChemicalGuys thanks
Thank you !!! This was very helpful
Hey Tyler, happy detailing!!
- CG Nick
CG, THE BEST!
Glad to have you as part of the Chemical Guys family!
- CG Nick
question, Would it be okay to skip the polishing step and go from clay bar to applying hydroslick???
Hey there! That would be perfectly fine but for a flawless finish we recommend machine polishing prior to applying HydroSlick.
- CG Nick
Chemical Guys Thank you !
is it ok to do the jet seal after I applied the ceramic coating ?
Hey! Yes, that is correct. Thanks for watching and happy detailing!
What’s the difference between wipeout and the quick detail spray?
Hey there! Wipe Out removes oils and residues as well as glaze, sealant and wax to ensure that the surface is completely clean before the next step of the detailing process. Quick detailers gently remove dust and fingerprints to keep your ride clean in between washes.
