Used the mascarpone filling recipe and it was great! Though for my personal liking i prefer it slightly less sweet. I added in abit of baileys which was the alcohol i used for the syrup too. Followed the video's step by step guide which was very helpful. Had used another recipe prior to this where I had to whip the cream to soft peaks first before beating in the mascarpone cheese which caused it to curdle/separate.

What does corn starch do to the cake?
It absorbs all excess moisture and allows you to bake an airy, loose and light biscuit
