I am in cyws and had the amazing opportunity to play with you and all the other trumpet players .. You are a very inspiring person and I'm so glad I had this one in a lifetime chance to play with you .. When you played this song I was crying . You have so much emotion the pours into the way you play and it inspires me to play like you one day . I am all about spreading music to everyone and that's why I joined cyws . I never thought I would get to play with you . Thank you so much and I'm so glad cancer blows 2016 was a success
As my father, with 50 + years in the music business having worked with greats such as Maurice Murphy said, "you won't hear it played better than that".
Difficult to achieve such a full, lyrical tone on a piccolo horn (appears to be a Yamaha). For those who knew Ryan, this will bring many tears. A very pure, soulful rendition. ... aside ... I note Cancer Blows features many musicians from the Canadian Brass.
To answer your question: ""Gabriel's Oboe" is the main theme for the 1986 film The Mission directed by Roland Joffé.[1] The theme was written by Italian composer Ennio Morricone, and has since been arranged and performed several times by artists such as Yo-Yo Ma,[2] Holly Gornik,[3] and Brynjar Hoff,[4] among others. The theme has been called "unforgettable"[5] and a "celebrated oboe melody".[6] Vocalist Sarah Brightman begged Morricone to allow her to put lyrics to the theme to create her own song, "Nella Fantasia".[7][8] In 2010, Morricone encouraged soprano Hayley Westenra to write English lyrics for "Gabriel's Oboe" in her album Paradiso[9]" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel's_Oboe).
TheJakeman789 lots of classical (baroque) concerto's ans solo pieces written for oboe are arranged by many composers for piccolo trumpet because it works so well. The sounds, register and clarity of both instruments have lots in common. Well done to play this piece on the piccolo trumpet!
jesus....this is heavenly music. Rest in peace Ryan.

Should've used an oboe, or muted the trumpet, because the trumpet is way over powering and harsh for this song

TheJakeman789 And what does this tiny trumpet overpower?? An over 600 pipes organ? 😉
The most beautiful sound I have heard on a piccolo trumpet. Ryan makes the sound sing. Great choice for this great song. lamerooliz
@@dirkt6921 Right?? Kudos to Ryan for overpowering an instrument the size of a building with a piccolo trumpet.
