No FOMO here. I pick a chair shaded under a palm tree, swim a bit, eat some lunch and then take a relaxing nap. Perfect day at the beach to me. I like that it can be low key and no real rush to be anywhere. Love PDCC ❤️🏝
I was on the Harmony last week, and spent the day at Coco Cay (they pronounce it "KAY," not "KEY," like Disney does, by the way). It was truly the perfect day. I did not do the Coco Beach Club, but the complementary food had in the regular area was spot-on delicious. I floated in and out of every beach, and also did the water park. I went here for the first time with my family on my first ever cruise in July. We were on Harmony of the Seas. My mom and I went on the waterslides, which were pretty scary ngl but they were fun! The rest of the day would've been awesome had I not gotten a huge sunburn.. yeah not fun :( but the rest of it was great! Also the food was so good! Gonna go for the first time in a couple of months with a group of 8… we’ll have two elderly folks, another person with mobility issues, and two kids aged 4 & 6, so getting a cabana was a no brainer. It looks amazing but is it just me, or do cruise lines seem to be looking for more and more ways to extract money? Cruising is great because you pay a fare (which can be quite high) and included in that fare you get a full vacation with everything included. But now they are adding more and more that you have to do - and private islands means that you miss real destinations and also the local economy of these places are going ot suffer.
I got a cabana for our group of 8 for all the reasons Matt mentioned (home base, service), but surprised that South Beach was $600 and Chill Beach was $1000. Are they really that different? I realize that SB is farther away from stuff, but still…

I just booked a cruise for May 2024. Excursion prices are: Beach Club overwater cabana - $3899, not over water $2499, Lagoon Cabana - $1399. Kind of crazy? no? I guess I will do the Thrill Park as those are only $160 pp. Even the South Beach Bed Rental is $329. Is it possible to not book an excursion, show up at South Beach and just rent loungers? Any idea what that would set me back??
My family and I have been here once and going back in February 2022. With kids the thrill side was amazing, we were there all day and the kids had to be dragged back to the boat. If it was I is adults going, defiantly going to the beach club!
It's nice but don't think they should charge so much for the water park and wave pool. Back in July we did a stop at Amber Cove. Their zip line was under 30 dollars for all day. When we stopped at Coco Cay I did some snorkeling on my own. We then ate at the free buffet. The food was good and there was plenty to choose from.
